First Track Day

Certified Lotus

Recommended Posts

My seventeen year old son has been karting for the last two years and driving on the road for one year. Figured it was time he had a proper track day in the Lotus. So off to our track where we are members (NJMP) and spent a really great father/son day together.

Shot some video and caught a little event while he was on the track with an instructor.......

Second part is of me driving trying like hell to catch Tom......he let me finally get him

So, that's what a bright orange Cayman looks like leaving the track!

Some very good drivers on this forum (Kitcat, Sabbot, Blubarisax, errr....me... many times) have got that corner wrong in the past :o:rofl:

So it understandable and perfectly acceptable :D

Still I was surprised to see it happen in the introductory group? That is a first for me to see.

Yeah, while you have been off playing go karts, the little yellow devil has got rather quick over the last year with his fresh 20 inch wide slicks and lots of Caterhams to give him a little competition to improve. :seeya:

Top video as always! One of these days I will get you to give me a lesson in your editing skills!

Croc, I have seen many cars go off in the green group. I have even seen cars wrecked badly in the green group. Always happens in the afternoon run groups when everyone's level of "expertise" is way up.

Tom has gotten quite fast in his yellow beast. Seat time will do that. Although it was only a matter of time of keeping the pressure on that I wore him out and finally caught him ;-) excellent driving Tom!

Your videos are getting more interesting Croc. I liked the latest one with the beep beeps. Your more focused on recording the driving style, I'm more playful with the movement, framing and editing to music. I do get critiqued for drowning out the engine sounds........oh well, it's my video ;-)

Looking forward to my next track day with the Seven's gang. Do I get an invite?

Very interesting way of describing. I am not artistic so I do not think that way. I am trying to record a time for memory for a group of people to show the fun we had. Given not all like music but everyone likes seeing themselves and my music tastes are rather eclectic then the safe way is with engine noise with a theme to make it fun. Italian Job (original 70s version) was an inspired choice in hindsight.

Glen - you would always be welcome. If we forget to invite then jog Tom or I and we will include you. Carolyn is keen for us to do something with a members day - possibly the open wheeler group. We like the idea of going back to SCDA as they ran a better event than Trackdaze but need to accommodate those who can only reliably escape weekends. The debate for next year has started. I may even have a clubhouse by then!

By the way - thumbs up for being a top dad with your son and making a day like this!
