yellowss7
Hard to believe that this will be the 4th annual 7s Gathering at NJMP. We had 11 sevens on track together last year and for 2014 we hope to add to that total significantly based on responses from several who could not make it last year. For 2014 we are looking to expand the event to include 7 owners who would like to be part of the festivities but are not into tracking their cars. Croc (Mike), Blubarisax (Karl), JBH (Jeff) and I (Tom) are kicking around the possibility of adding activities for those who want to join in the fun and camaraderie. NJMP is Located in South Jersey, less than 60 miles from Philadelphia and about 45 miles from Atlantic City. There are plenty of lodging opportunities locally, including On Site rooms, Rental condos, and Camping. There are 3 or 4 hotels in close proximity as well accommodating all budgets. Trailers/vehicles can be left on site with 24hour security. Dining options are plentiful as well, including onsite restaurant and bar, catering, or BBQing. Off Site dining options are also plentiful. At this time the local track day companies have not posted their 2014 schedules but based on past history, we think the event will most likely end up around the 3rd or 4th weekend of June. Our thoughts for this event would be an arrival on Friday night with an informal cocktail party/gathering ahead of a dinner on site. Saturday would be a track day for those who chose that option or a group drive with a destination stop such as a local winery, museum, Jersey Shore beach or Atlantic City (To be determined). Possible Spa trip for the spouses/significant others??? Back at the track for cocktails and dinner. Possible activities before dinner such as parade laps on the track, Group Photo, etc. Sunday again the track option, or an autocross/go kart event for some and another group drive to Cape May with lunch. Before dinner we could have a concours over cocktails before heading offsite to one of the good local restaurants in the Millville area. Monday and Tuesday optional track days. Obviously this is in the rough planning stage and will require a lot more effort to finalize. We will need a few volunteers to help out with leading the drives. But we should be able to coordinate most of the details in advance to make it a smooth process. Feel free to chime in with suggestions or thoughts. I think almost all who have participated in the event over the last 3 years have had a good time and enjoyed the camaraderie. Our feeling is more 7s equal more fun. Looking forward to seeing more of you and your 7s. Tom, Mike, Karl and Jeff.
blubarisax
Tom, Thanks for the post. I have to say that this weekend is my favorite event of the year and I am very much looking forward to it. For those who have joined us in the past you know that the track is great, but the friendships developed are even better. I strongly anyone east of the Mississippi plan to attend. Plan your vacations for August, you don't want to miss this event! Klasik-69
Sounds like a plan to me. I like the idea of mixing things up so everyone has equal enjoyment. I'm setting aside about 10 days in June for this, assuming you allow rednecks from Florida to join in. If we could get 3 days of track time, I'd be one happy camper. yellowss7
Looks like we have at least one empty chair and room for plenty more.
Croc
assuming you allow rednecks from Florida to join in. Of course they will. Hell, they even let me, a truly redneck southerner, get involved. Us southerners should stick together and show these yankees how to drive - not too difficult actually!:cooldude:

Show them how to drive......................I'll hold off on that one until we meet. I'm usually good at letting my mouth (keyboard in this case) overload my ass. In 2005, we flew to JFK to go to Kerbecks and pick up our brand new C6 Corvette. Paid $140 for a one way out-of-state car rental from Hertz (ouch) then drove to Atlantic City (a few wrong turns here and there, a few illegal U-turns too). Got our car, drove straight over to the Atlantic City airport to drop off the rental car. Stayed at the Hilton casino hotel in Atlantic City for a mere $70/nite and celebrated with a nice dinner in their restaurant at a cost of $200. Got up the next morning (with a hangover of course) and the fob wouldn't open the C6, and the key wouldn't go into the emergency trunk release..........discovered I had dropped off the Corvette key to Hertz. Oh Crap, drove like an idiot back to the airport after using our second set of keys to get the car running. Got to the airport and the Hertz counter was all smiles when they saw me (actually laughing). They said they never rented out a Malibu and got a Vette in return. Yeah, yeah, real funny. I had already purchased online a ticket on the Cape May ferry for a 10 am run. All of this started at 8:30 am. I may have broken a couple of speed limits along the way but we came screaming into the port at 10:01 am and actually drove clean through the ticket taker since I couldn't stop in time. Now had to back up, kind of looking like a idiot again, and begged the ticket guy to let us on the ferry even though they had closed the gates. You see, I'm not about to say I'm going to show anybody up when I pull stuff like that. Mike
