MightyMike
Here's a prototype that I saw at SEMA this past November... http://i43.tinypic.com/2mrfz7m.jpg Buttons on a steering wheel are nothing new, but this product eliminates cords and transmits signals wirelessly. Sure makes things easier for those of us with quick release steering wheels. Personally, I would love to have my turn-signal and horn switches up on the steering wheel. The guy I spoke with at SEMA said they hope to get the product on the market sometime this year. Depending on price and reviews, I may get it. lucky dawg
Wow, a horn button in the correct location that I could actually find when needed.
JohnCh
Curious what this will cost. Cartek makes an 8-channel wireless system that is available through Pegasus Auto Racing, but it's over $1k. Pretty sure you can get them in the UK for quite a bit less, but it will still be pricey. If you are only looking to avoid a separate connector for a detachable wheel, Spa Design makes 8 and 12 pin quick release hubs that might be worth looking into. You still need to deal with wires to the base of the hub though, which the wireless system avoids. My wheel isn't detachable, so I've opted to stay old school with a coiled cord feeding the buttons through the hub. And yes, having the horn button in the right place is nice http://www.throttle-steer.com/uploads/1/1/0/8/11083275/1334551_orig.jpg -John
timax
Imagine how that would be with interference . Mobile phones , Those huge electricity towers and even the radio. I recon your horn would beep every time you got a text message. Wireless is great in theory but id rather trust a coily cable.
MightyMike
Wireless is pretty reliable; especially if the receiver and transmitter are paired with Bluetooth. I am willing to live with my horn going off unexpectedly. Mouth and middle finger go off without warning all the time.
Mondo
I think it would be pretty unlikely to run into accidental interference problems. I'm kind of surprised no unscrupulous team/fan hasn't hacked an F1 car and changed it's settings while it's racing.
