I went to change the oil in my s2k and there is no oil drain plug. The pan seems to be welded around the edges. There is a bolt with a wire on the rear drivers side that I think is oil pressure sensor. Where do I drain it from. I'll post pictures later.

If someone shortened the pan (probably because of damage) and didn't add a boss for the plug you can probably get the oil out by modifying a "dip stick" type oil removal tool. The S2000 motor only has a very small dip stick hole so it's going to be slow going. Better have the motor hot so the oil flows easier and find the thinnest wall metal tube that will fit down the hole.

Sounds more like you need to drop the pan and have a boss installed as a more permanent solution and also to check how the oil pick up was modified and how well it was engineered. After track crashes the second most expensive item is oil starvation.

The bolt with the wire might be the drain plug - I have the oil temp sensor in the drain plug of my car.

wcmgoldie,

After looking at the photos, I second jimrankin's motion; pull the pan and check the oil pickup. As for draining the oil initially, you should be able to simply drain it through the sensor hole. But, I have to ask (admittedly, not the least bit familiar with the Honda engine), could the sensor possibly be an oil temp sensor rather than an oil pressure sensor? It's the location of the sensor (in the pan) that has me curious.

The plug with a wire looks like a standard threaded sensor+drain plug to me (pic of mine below). The position is definitely not stock (should be at the right front of the car) but it should work to drain the oil just fine. You could help it drain better by jacking up the opposite corner of the car as well.

Thanks for the feedback. I forgot I have oil temp because it is in the same gauge as water temp and a switch changes between them. I always keep it on water temp. It must be the drain plug it just had me confused since it's not in an original location and the pan is all welded up. I thought id check with you guys before I mess something up.

Take good care of Goldie. I have a found memory of driving her (briefly) in the rain when she was almost new. If you pull the pan and check the sump, let all know what you find.

That is a shortened oil pan. Remember that Goldie was originally built as a track only car. It originally had about 1.5 ground clearance with the 15" slicks. The sensor on the pan is oil temp. Just pull the sensor and drain the oil. Remember that the oil volume has changed due to the pan shortening. The dip stick should have been modified as well. Br sure to fill it to the top of the hatch pattern on the stick.

Thanks Louren I'll give it a try. I was pretty sure that's what I had to do but I just wanted to make sure. I figured it only held 3qt of oil or so. I tend to break a lot of things working in my cars so I always like to do my research first.
