Spring has sprung

well in Southern Ontario, Canada it has because I took the Seven for a quick blat. A hair above freezing but sunny. A little chilly around the lug oles, I got showered in sand and gravel and the rear end was a little lively but I'm not complaining. Man that first run feels so good, I fell in love all over again.

Here's to another 7 months of fun! :driving:

Andy, way to kick off another good year. Any interest in a trip to watkins glen in early Sept for the annual historic races? Just planting the seed while you are thinking about the season ahead. I plan on heading down in my seven with Brian who brought his Cobra to the club fall run

Thanks for the thought. I try not to make plans too far in advance when it comes to my Seven. A 38 year old car with a 50 year old drive train tends to make up it's own mind when and where we go. If the old bucket of bolts is running well I would be interested as I like the old time tracks.

Not sure where "Blat" originated but it's the kind of sound that ricochets back at you during a spirited drive down a tight country lane particularly in the UK, must be the embankments and hedgerows :)

Even after the seemingly skyhigh snowbanks finally disappear after our worst winter in many decades...which could be June at the rate we're going...there are truly massive amounts of road salt residue left on the roads and shoulders that will need a lot of rain to wash away.

Am afraid the blats will have to wait, will be quite a while til conditions are good enough around here!

You are correct Paul I won't argue the point. However I'm 64 now and there's a good chance getting in & out of my Seven will prove difficult in another 10 to 15 years so a little bit of salt dust is not going to affect my enjoyment now. Add that to the fact 30+ years of my TwinCam perspiring oil most of which is spread finely through the frame and underside is added protection. :)

So when the sun shines it's Blat time!

Well, spring may be here (says the calendar), but we just got 22 inches of new snow last Saturday. It will be awhile before we see clear, dry roads (though we're gaining daylight at the rate of almost 6 minutes per day).

Meanwhile, I'm drawing up the initial outline of the itinerary for the Polar Bear Blat 2015, from Vancouver BC to Alaska and return.....August 2015 -- mark your calendars.

Would like to report that I took my Stalker out for a brisk, brief BLAT after diner this evening and it was a blast!....Stones were flying...hair was blowing and what looked like a grin on my face was really my teeth chattering....living the life.

These winters are pretty rough down here in Florida. A month or so ago we had temps drop down to about 52 degrees for a couple of days, and it got really yucky with a few clouds. Made me kind of depressed :smilielol5: So, don't move down here, it's really unbearable................they're even talking about some day having an income tax. The beaches aren't really all that nice and some weekends are so windy you don't want to take the 7 out for fear of a bad-hair day. We had several weekends that were so awful we could only play one round of golf. You are much better off with the more consistent weather you have up north......................-28 degrees, 42 inches of snow, 82 mph wind. And if you live in NY City, Del Wazzio is going to help you out financially by taking all your money, I mean your worries off your mind.

Thanks guys, you make the 6" of snow in tonight/tomorrow's forecast so much more bearable, especially after sunny and 40 this afternoon.

Sure has me looking forward to our upcoming trip to southern California!

Our long range forecast is talking temps well below normal for at least another month. Sounds like it might be a short summer....

Yes we too got more of the white stuff last night but the 14 day forecast says 50ºF by April 1, or am I a fool to believe?

Andy

You might consider....

The people offering up that forecast are the only group I know of that get paid even though they seem to be wrong 90% of the time!

Presently 3" of nice new white stuff on the ground, falling hard enough to not be able to see across the road here...

Spring huh?
