Donnie Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007  Anyone found a small battery that works well in the Caterham. Currently using a Lawn & Garden which works well but needs trickle charge for extended down times. Mine is mounted under the Webers so size is a major consideration.
stevet Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I know Odyssey will be the predictable answer, but they do work. I have the 680MJ - very happy with it
RDROCKT Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Take a look at the personal watercraft batteries. Prices are reasonable and they seem to last as long as the Odyssey in my Se7en.

11Budlite Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Another vote for the Odyssey 680MJ. Small in size, lightweight, and it seems like it's got enough cranking power. Bruce

Is there a reason you do not like trickle charging? I have 6 batteries which have extended down time and all have trickle chargers- Battery Tender model. Bruce
WestTexasS2K Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I used a Braille battery in the Ultralite. They are small and powerful and expensive. The Odyssey is good if not better and half the price but the Braille is smaller. http://http://www.brailleauto.com/
slomove Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Odyssey PC625 (PWC format) is a quite a bit cheaper for some reasons than the other models. Although the cranking amps are lower than PC680 I believe the actual AmpHour capacity is even higher. Mine has been in the car for 5 years, no trickle charger needed. Starts up after a few months of storage no prob.
Donnie Posted July 9, 2007 Author Posted July 9, 2007 Thanks to all who responded. Bought an Odyssey 680, although didn't get it mounted in time for the Tail of the Dragon trip last weekend. Incredible weekend. Already looking forward to next year. Maybe the two pounds I save on the Odyssey will make me competitive in the autocross.
