I notice those RCB Sevens have the rear up higher. They bring it up higher than the windshield body area. This is something Brunton did with the M-spec rear (bring it higher).

This RCB looks so much better than the typical low rear end. I have heard the term bobble-head when describing what the people look like from the rear in a Seven :)

The way my silver car is now I am setting almost straight up. There is not enough room to get me into a semi reclining position. This results in tall roll bars and the big bird affect, or possibly no problem if you are short. The XL allowes you to recline the seat making it way more comfortable for long runs and a lot less damaging to your back when you hit a bad road. It's like setting in a recliner......very comfortable. This also allowes you to shorten the roll bars, which makes the car look lower and wider. I like that. I also like the 3" diam. Roll bars. The problem is getting the rear end higher on the bottom side like an ultra light or a RCB. On a classic it's easy just cut the lower non structural frame work away and weld up a more tilted up floor. This will require a different fuel cell and will cause more of the differential to be visible like an ultralight. On the MSPEC XL it doesn't look to be quite as easy.....due to the IRS structural frame components but it is doable.

This makes me wonder if I should have ordered their fuel cell (which I did)? I did notice there is a sump section hanging down in that picture I saw. Might have to just come up with something different to make it look better....

That reminds me, I need to make sure to ask them if they have a fuel level sensor in there.

The fuel sensor usually is specific to the gauge.

That brings up another issue....placement of the fuel cell. In a seven there is not a lot of choice but I would like to get a bit more distance between the back of the car and the fuel cell. I like the removable storage trunk between the fuel cell and the back of the car like Westfield. In an M XL This would put the fuel cell above the rear end and most likely would require three ( custom ) oddly shaped tanks. With the reclining seats however there may be room behind the seats like Corvette, GTM, etc.

If it is like the tank I received from them, you will get an aftermarket universal sending unit.

I would like to build a larger tank with a factory style in tank pump.

Was the tank they made better than a plastic fuel cell? How does it fill?

A Jaz fuel cell with sending unit already installed, foam and remote neck would cheaper, but I am guessing there is not one that would fit right.

I am still waiting for a picture. It's nice if you can fill from the outside, but not sure if it will matter on this car.

Jevs, (Sorry don't know your name) Have you looked at the Stalker picture gallery site and seen where others put their fuel fills? You have options, since you are building it, to put it where you want it.

Hide it, back, front, side, top exterior fill. If there was room in the tunnel you could fill it like an old VW bug and gain a few gallon capacity.

The beauty of building is whatever you can think of goes to fit the allowed spaces.

I bought both my Stalker V6 and Birkin S3, so I only get to modify a little from that -- or tear it apart and begin new myself. But why?? It is already the greatest little British car. Colin Chapman would again die to see what his little car has evolved into. And, no, I don't need a dragstrip hotrod type engine. Dang!! My little Lotus Europa has maybe 85hp but it will beat a lot of cars on the autocross circuit if properly set up. My lowly 3.4na V6 usually beats the Corvettes locally and Jack Banker's little 2.8 V6 set FTD's.

I watched John Meyers, when he had his Stalker V8, at Cresson. If he hadn't of had the dirt-track wing holding him on the pavement, Pete Challinor's 4 cylinder Caterham might have out run him except on the straights. Pete was always catching him at the corners. It was neat to watch them. They had a lot of fun that day.

Others opinions are free to disagree.

So, build it, enjoy it, and live the seven life style for a while. Great cars, great folks and families to go with it. A very nice community to live in.

Congratulations!

Thanks for that side shot. My classic hood doesn't have the cut out for the suspension push rods, and I was wondering how that was addressed.

Good choice on going classic rear. I went hybrid in that I did the classic nose, but newer M-spec rear. I wish I had went your way now. I may go custom on that down the road.
