  1. I have recently started ordering parts for my CSR from Bruce and the interactions and service have been great. He has given me advice and gone way beyond just taking my order. As far as the price points go I believe my 260 engine and 6 speed went for about $20K in 2007. Because my engine a bit larger in displacement than the current 2 liter (and its associated 240 hp) I would suspect very similar components to generate close BMEP. Additionally it appears to me as the cost is not far out of line with what we had before the new arrangement Superformance. I do believe that Croc got a much better deal when exchange rates were quite favorable though. The sequential and 310 HP engine… thats a lot of cash :-) but no one on your block will have one.
  2. Just plain murder. I used to train some cops in grappling techniques. Of the 10 or so I got to know i trusted 1. I've talked to my son about this, never trust them but do as they ask regardless of how unjust it seems at the time.

  6. Nicemd's CSR blog has a link to piston damage description for many difference failures. http://www.boosttown.com/engine/piston_damage.pdf Lots of useful information at his site (http://csr200.blogspot.com/) I find it of great help.
  7. Wow, fantastic! Please keep a log with pictures as someday I would like to add one to my Cat. Take care and good luck. Paul

  9. First go round has F = 1/2 rho * v2*A*Cd Don't know A but Cd ~ 0.7.. so rather, use car specs to calculate A*Cd and assume that 260 HP = 155 mph Using this.. I find that to get to 200 mph you need about 430 hp.
  10. Thanks for all the comments. Paul
  11. I just bought a 2007 CSR and the seat position doesn't work for me. I'm relatively short (5'8") and when I move the seat position as far forward as the rail allows its still a problem. The seat actually slides forward enough but it won't lock into the track. I thought there was a problem with the catching mechanism but when i took the seat and rails out it simply travels farther than there are track slots. It seems to me that I have 3 options, 1.) Take the track apart and mill additional slots into the track. 2.) Drill new holes into the floor and reposition the tracks. 3.) buy the adjustable pedals from Caterham Any suggestions? Thanks Paul
  12. thanks Hank, Do you know if a 7 cover fits a CSR? Thanks Paul

  16. Hi Glenn, wow, your probably 10 minutes from my place. I look forward to meeting you sometime. I can't believe I haven't seen you driving around sometime in your Caterham. Croc and Kit.. Well, I hope i'm closer to 15 K than 1K but either way i'm sure i'll have a blast. Thanks Paul PS Its supposed to get picked up at 10 am PST today but I'll wait for the driver info to celebrate. I paid for all the shipping so maybe this will help.
  17. Great info Kitcat and look forward to seeing you at the track. I've only run at Nelson, Mid-Ohio and Beaver Run. Thanks for the info about the shipping. They told me to expect a call today but I'll be more attentive thanks to your comments. Paul
  18. Thanks all. Really can't wait to drive the car. I live about 20 minutes west of Cleveland Ohio in a city called Westlake. My first day at the track was about 7 years ago when I went down to Mid-Ohio for one of their Acura experience days. What a blast. Shortly after that I bought a Mazda RX-8 with the idea that I could both track and drive the car daily. My reasoning behind getting the RX-8 was that it was reasonably light weight and my consumables should be low (tires, brakes etc.). Big modern cars fly around the track with their big (expensive tires) and large displacement engines. Well, track cars are for the track and street cars are for the street and as i'm sure as many of you know it can get quite expensive. So.... i'm watching Top Gear and they are reviewing the R500... I got obsessed by the notion of a truly light weight car thats very fast. I'm hoping that my consumables will be low and my wife and I can enjoy going to the various tracks in our area. I'm sure some of you all will dispell my fantasy about this being cheap :flag: Some of my friends tried to talk me out of the Caterham as its a "toy" but in my mind how is it any different than a Porsche, Corvette, Lotus etc. which are going to be used with the same regularity as my new "toy". Croc, thanks so much for the link to the CSR website. I didn't know it existed and one of my big concerns was that tech questions that I might come would be difficult to find answers to. Its being shipped today and I should have it in 7 to 10 days. Cheers and happy driving Paul
  19. Well I'm the new owner of this CSR. I've never driven one but after reading all your comments I can't wait to start. Please be gentle when I ask stupid questions. Paul
  20. Really appreciate the information. Paul
  21. I want a an excellent paint job with it looking just as if it had ordered at the Caterham shop (or if that is normally crappy.. better than that :-)). Thanks a bunch for your feedback. I'm happy to hear not $5000. Paul.
  22. Are the 7's body/fender parts easy to take off or do you just take the entire car up to the shop? Thanks again. Paul
  23. Hi all New to the whole 7 world and was wondering if its practical (from a cost/time perspective) to paint a 7 a completely new color. Is it a few $1000, $5000, etc? Thanks Paul
