  1. Might be wrong but, seem to recall that the BDR was simply a head conversion kit for the X/Flow with Caterham as the customer with 170 bhp on a soft bottom end. Hardly in the league of a true full race 1600 BDA or 2L BDG
  2. I would fall into the "con" category, which maybe old school. I4's at 200 brake best suited to Se7ens and megabrake V8's belong in Cobras/Ultimas. In the 70's one of the first V8 se7ens was born as the "Kiki" - it looked positively dangerous, but sure the application has improved since then. While some often enjoy bragging rights when supposedly embarrassing a Porsche at the track, I have often seen the smile disappear when a shifter Kart does the same the se7en at the same track. I guess it's a case of different strokes....
  3. As I recall, excluding the moderns such the Éclat, Elise etc, up to 1973, the +2 was the only non-kit Lotus - so we are playing with kitcars
  4. +1 Stock 2.3 with 2.0l pistons and ITB's should be good for 195 give or take. Main cost issue is the reliable and effective oil supply - maybe the accusump as noted previously is the optimal price solution.....?
  5. +1 got to agree with the Cats more in line with tradition - as said before, take the negine and tranny out of a Cat and it's worth frankly about $15K as a roller, give or take
  6. Wow, $67K for a Caterham? You would be better off with a Boxster S. If you take the engine and transmission out of a Caterham or worse still the original S3, you have a very basic roller with nominal value really. Of them all options probably Birkin meets the original's driving enjoyment criteria the best
  7. Dean has it - webers must be soft mounted to operate correctly i.e.with the O-ring spacers as you have, and using nylocs with thackery washers (or volvo style using sandwiched rubber between two steel cup washers). IMHO it is a must......
  8. Still can't bring myself to use the word - never liked it, just sounds too "blah". Seven needs something more descriptive........?
  9. Fusion, MIlan, Mazda3
  10. No comment on reserve but......30k ouch. I sold mine to California in 1973 for $800 - the buyer wanted it so he could join the half-time show which I understood included a parade of sevens around the football field at a big game - 49ers??. It does have the S3 GT features of hood scoop for down draft weber, no louvers, wheels, recess/dimple for front lower A-arm etc even the tires look like the original dunlops
  11. Couldn't find the price but it looks like a genuine 1970 S3 1600 GT as was my third seven. Whether it has been restored to different colors and all is another topic.
