  1. I second these. Got them at a nearby Puma Outlet store for less than $50 last spring.
  2. Harnesses are Schroth Profi II-FE ASM, good until 2023. Doesn't leak. Battery secure and terminal covered. Tires, brakes, and bearings good. Need a helmet but that's easy. Of more concern, need a taller roll bar which is slightly complicated because the previous owner mounted a radiator and tank in the rear for the intercooler. Probably can overcome this provided the roll bar doesn't need to be certified but it would be built to some standard. Also would need arm restraints, how does that work? I have years of experience on track, riding a motorcycle! Happy to drive in the novice group though, it makes sense, also I understand and enjoy that a trackday is not a race. Hopefully it's not too much work to make it happen, any help is greatly appreciated. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=15161&stc=1
  3. Working on it. Just refreshed the suspension. What are the car and driver requirements for this event? http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=15160&stc=1
  4. The wishbone will move freely forward and back, limited though since it's still held captive at the front. Was thinking about getting a sawzall blade in-between the frame and wishbone and cutting the bolt since the bolt is only frozen to the bushing.
  5. Hi All, Need some help removing a stuck lower wishbone bolt, it's the one in the rear. Passenger side came off easy. Driver's side looks to be rusted in the bushing. What can I do? Tried soaking it in PB Blaster, no luck.
  6. Wanted to buy: Fuel tank for my older Caterham. Thanks, Drew
  7. That's what I was thinking, will have to check it out.
  8. Tried to go for a drive today but about 10 minutes in the engine stopped. For some reason I had low to no fuel pressure but was able to limp it home. Disassembled the fuel filter and found a mess inside, no idea what it is, kind of looks like peeled paint. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=14739&stc=1
  9. Looking to do some refurbishment and maintenance on my Caterham's suspension system. It is a live axle car. Bushings are cracked and rotted. Springs and dampers are of an unknown age and service history. The rear A-frame bushing is the spherical type and looks to be in good condition. Front wishbones, top links, and roll bar look undamaged but have surface corrosion and show their age. Same with rear. Looking for recommendations on where to buy parts, what must be replaced (bushings), and what can be cleaned up (wishbones). Want to be smart with my money while bringing everything up to a high standard. Thanks
  10. Ended up solving this problem a while back by machining the mounting plate so that I could move the pinion gear into a better position with the ring gear.
  11. Got out for a great drive yesterday. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=14344&stc=1
  12. The Caterham that I recently became the owner of has an issue where the starter pinion gear doesn't mesh well with the ring gear and the car won't start. Currently when the starter engages it doesn't spin the ring gear, it looks like it just stripped the outer part of the ring gear teeth. It looks like the center of the pinion gear needs to shift closer to the center of the ring gear. Pinion gear is 9 teeth, 110 tooth flywheel. Any advice on how to fix this?
  13. Interested. I'll shoot you a text.
  14. Thanks for the invite to the event at NJMP. I'll do my best to make it. Car will be used more for go than show. Also, planning to meet the engine builder tomorrow to get educated on what's under the hood.

  18. I am located in Central Massachusetts. I'll follow up with turbo pics soon.
  19. The bare aluminum body definitely makes an already unusual car to see on the roads around here stand out even more.
  20. Hi Everybody, I am the new owner of a 1978 Caterham. Not necessarily the Caterham I envisioned myself driving but since it was currently registered and inspected in Massachusetts I couldn't resist. Plus the previous owner and shop that has worked on the car are nearby. Supposedly the short history of the car from the previous owner is that he purchased it off the floor of the NY Auto Show in the 70's as it was being built, brother who lived in Long Island at the time picked it up for him but raced it locally instead of delivering it to the owner in Massachusetts, he eventually acquired it many years later, fixed it up a bit as well as adding a turbocharged motor, and ultimately sold it to me. Looking forward to lots of great miles ahead. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=13968&stc=1 http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=13970&stc=1 http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=13969&stc=1
  21. Aspiring 7 owner here. Always read this thread. Holding out for a car I can register in Massachusetts so it may be forever. Previously titled Virgina cars will likely also work.
