Blinker pods need to be cut at the back to adjust for these mounts. Some OEM comes with the cutout. Some aftermarket don't. I cut my CF ones.

One word of concern is that historic often comes with limitations either by registry or insurance company (such as not allowed to daily drive, drive to work or use for chores and miles limit). Your results will very depending where you are and who you use. Just a word of caution.

That blog post is extremely useful and what I used. I do remember some finagling with the wires to figure out what's what. 3 to the beam. 1 if extra if it had a parking lamp. Struggle I had was having blinker pods on as day lights without main headlight being on. On top of that since headlights have a DRL beam that also had to be connected to same power source. I did utilize the headlight as part of blinker where DRL turns amber, I left that feature off. Seemed redundant with pods. If I wanted to not use pods, it's a perfect feature I have some pictures but it's hard to tell at what part of the process they were taken. Power probe made things ALOT easier

With the other "entertainment" thread dead time to go back to regularly scheduled programming. I think I've crossed the line and gone too far.. got a new lanyard for my work. It's actually VERY well made which is surprising. Heavy metals, CF accents and good silky material Unfortunately the Mrs can't take me seriously anymore, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make

It's funny you say that. Way too often the "people in power" when it comes to apologize, say "I'm sorry if you were offended" or the like. .... That's not an apology for what you've done/said and I think your guy's discussion is at the core of the issue. There are people who don't think they should apologize for anything they do or say if the negative intent wasn't there and there are people who don't care what the intent was if it hurt/offended them. Which is kind of where we are with the thread and Bruce. At first he said he shouldn't apologize for anything he says because his intent was good. Then he changed the tune (I dont think he ever apologized for anything?) and relented that he should compare Croc to somebody else (I don't think a different person was given) Then without a hint of irony he became offended at my compliment when my intent was to compliment and not hurt. So he tried to have his cake and eat it too. -
Just dropped it off at a rebuilt place. About $140 for a rebuild of the original. I was impressed because the guy instantly knew what motor it was from upon seeing it.
-
Not a bad idea. I completely forgot that there is a local place that does rebuilds that I used to send people to back in the day when I worked in autoparts. Not sure what their price would be. Maybe I'll rebuild the original as a backup

Finally got around to testing my replacement alternator that got me stranded. It also came up dead in bench testing even though I tested it before I put it in. Returned it and ordered a brand new unit instead of remanufactured this time. Lady behind the counter felt bad for me and gave me a 35% discount to make the new unit just over $200 instead of $100 for old unit. Rockauto would likely be cheaper but with things that might need return it's much easier to deal with a boxstore. Currently pending arrival and install. Glad this didn't happen at NJMP...

Wow, I'd never thought I'd witness "racism doesn't exist, I have a black friend" in person. You remind me of the saying "When you're accustomed to privilege equality feels like oppression." -

If praising Saddam for anything is a such a foul redline for you, you might want to reconsider who you praise “You know what he did well? He killed terrorists. He did that so good,” Trump said at a Tuesday night stop in North Carolina. “They didn’t read ’em the rights, they didn’t talk. They were a terrorist, it was over.” “He killed terrorists. He would shoot terrorists in the street. There were no terrorists.” “They had very few terrorists, because he didn’t want terrorists in Iraq, and he killed terrorists.” “Hussein throws a little gas, everyone goes crazy, ‘oh, he’s using gas.’ They go back, forth, it’s the same. And they were stabilized." Trump -

Very well said. I don't have time to go deep into this but I really appreciate your perspective onto the matter. I would like to quickly say one thing where you ask what drove this whole discussion. If you go back to the source of all this you will see a slight nudge towards Bruce to reconsider bringing politics and controversial figures as a means of praise towards beloved Croc on the side of caution by multiple people. He double and tripled down, including bringing "freedom of speech" as defense of his clearly considered "right" to say whatever he wanted. His lack of nuance, misunderstanding of the 2nd amendment and the determination to double down has brought fourth the discussion that followed. -

You keep stating it as a fact that I "attacked you" and how deeply offended you are. I've said it over and over again, that it was a compliment only. They might not have been the best chosen candidates I admit for my compliment but they had their strong points if you don't get too political. One was a proven strong leader and the other was very passionate towards his hobbies. There it no I'll intent as you keep insinuating wrongly and this compliment also caused you to attack me (attacking the man not the issue) by saying I have thin skin. As far as other "bad faith argument practices" it's amazing how many you've broken so far in this "constructive discussion" as a "champion debater". strawman slippery slope special pleading black or white false cause begging the question tu quoque the texas sharpshooter ambiguity For starters. -

To be fair this is the first post in about 6 years to get Political (in the politics subjection) and I think the first mention of Trump in about 4 years. Ironically it came from a guy who "didn't want to get political" -

A large portion of life is entertainment. Watching mental gymnastics is my form of entertainment. So far @Bruce K is getting 10/10/9 out of judges for the moves he's executing. -

Don't try to rewrite history. First comment in regards to "thin skin" is written by you on Monday "Respondents like Vovchandr better stay away from paper and other sharp objects, given the thinness of their skin." In regards to "pretentiousness" I have never said those were your comments, but the fact that you assigned that to yourself is telling on your end. So be careful throwing stones from your glass house. -

That is because for 3 pages now he's been stating that my well intented compliment is an attack on him, and is playing a victim to a ... Compliment. Hence the "unappreciated compliment" thread title. In the meantime I'm recovering from a hangover for playing a drinking game and taking a shot every time I read something that is pretentious in this thread. Still not sure how my compliment to him was by extension one to Trump? Do we have Mr Trump himself on the forum or do we just like putting words in other people's mouth while in the meantime not being accountable to our own? -

I don't expect a single person here to dedicate time to watch these videos (also available in a podcast) but the The Carmudgeon Show touches on these keen points of what the new/next generations phase as car enthusiasts I enjoy listening to Jason (long time esteemed journalist) and Derek (long time certified older car expert) discuss such matters

I wouldn't be in a Caterham if not for good fortune in a few areas, but I knew I wanted a 7 type car for so long that I started with a Locost build over 15 years ago when I certainly was in no position to buy a Caterham. Most of the Z generation and millennials non car people, one of biggest factors for car purchase is how big screen is and whether it has Android Auto/carplay. Out of the enthusiast spectrum most don't want such a bare bones car with no safety or can't justify a spare toy car even if desire is there. Out of bikers like myself, it's a downgrade in many factors: slower, harder to store, can't lean, more expensive etc. For me, the car is a perfect match for my ethos of driving. My first car was a CRX and I love my NA Miatas, so a light weight bare bones car is right up my alley. @Croc who knows who will be picking up the mantle for all the relic cars that are supported now by older generations. Pre war cars, carburated muscle cars, early 90s cars etc. There will be far more survivor cars being passed down than there is interest and skill set to keep them going. Not to mention millennials and gen Zs in general would struggle to afford keeping a relic going even if they have interest. With house buying being lower even less people can maintain them on the cheap themselves and labor rates are insane to do work on an "extra" car.
