What you wish you knew before ordering your car?
Vovchandr replied to Exarkun1178's topic in General Sevens Discussion
DemonTweeks and Westermann are your options I'd have to dig into receipts to see who I ordered from as I had orders from both By the pictures on their sites now, DemonTweeks also appears to be 0 degree (I thought I bought from them) https://www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/caterham-carbon-fibre-indicator-mounts-241853/ Westermann appears to be 45 degree (very pricy but I needed to order other stuff anyway so I did one big bulk order back in the day) https://westermann-motorsport.com/en/produkte/indicator-pod-carbon -

Opt in for the CF pods. Minimal cost and much better experience and product. With that said I think 3rd party pods were better and I ended up ordering both and using 3rd party ones that were cheaper Caterham switched to vertical pattern on almost all of its CF products which I personally hate 45 degree CF weave is much better looking and matches the rest of my parts -

Caterham Doors in trim color other than black
Vovchandr replied to Exarkun1178's topic in General Sevens Discussion
A shop can likely dye it/paint it or otherwise it was offered in "CF vinyl" which is still black but gives it some visual texture. but yes all i've seen was black as well. Are you trying to have one color matched? Might look odd around black windshield and a black roll bar. -
A lot of numbers use sticky material thats reusable but does get dirty and lose tack Otherwise if you're using a panel that you can reach from the inside you can place counter magnets for the magnetic sticks on the other side of the panel.

Hello. I do not think you will find struggle to find somebody to meet up with but just in case you do you can join the gathering of 7's at NJMP in the fall where many will be available along with a good crowd of people. You will want a model with a removable steering wheel for ease of egress and they do require upper body strength to get yourself elevated but otherwise it should work. There was even a member with a medical condition (can't recall the name) that created a "butt extractor" to help with the lifting and he had a seat pad of sorts rigged up to the roll cage that would help him get the initial lift going.

Help picking a tow vehicle and trailer for my Caterham
Vovchandr replied to savagete2860's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Solid advice. Mine still gets caught now. I strategically place pieces of wood under front tires as it goes in and out right now until I diy my own ramp extensions. Winch is always useful for sure -
I also removed all my evap system. If I recall it was just in place to begin with but not connected, but memory is vague at this point.

Help picking a tow vehicle and trailer for my Caterham
Vovchandr replied to savagete2860's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Re: weight distributing hitch (WDH). I own an equializer and but dont use it on the regular for a few reasons even though I'm close to the upper max of towing capacity (5k) on mysetup. 1) You're not supposed to use it on aluminum trailers as the material doesn't transfer the tension load correctly and tends to bend rather than transfer. I have it as a backup or emergency and owned it before this towing setup but so far has not needed it. 2) If you're using it is as intended they are great. They serve multiple functions such as keeping the load and truck level giving you proper traction for steering and maneuvering and secondary depending on the model they can greatly help with sway control of a trailer which is one of the biggest risks in towing especially on enclosed trailers and wind forces. What are you looking for when you're asking for Hitch recommendations? Brands of hitches or general advice? Many people here use prodigy RF for break controller including myself. My SUV even though its a 7 pin round plug doesn't have any brake controlling functions/signal from the vehicle in the harness so that was peculiar. I know you're still on the fence about open vs enclosed and cost is always an issue but seeing that you have a Cat with an aero screen having an enclosed trailer gives it an extra safe home without having to worry about theft of weather even at your own house if you happen to need to the garage space where it is for something else (more of a serious concern for me with a single bay garage where it has to stay in there which creates a conflict if I need the bay for other work). -
Blanket tariffs especially that end up covering things that cannot be produced, sourced or grown in the United States do nothing to solve competition, in those situations it's just a tax on people.

Just like one needed nuance before AI in parsing suggestions from strangers on the Internet to your problem one also has to parse what AI suggests but it's much easier to instantly work and adjust AI list then it is to deal with one way communication of 7 year old forum thread. It certainly is the best person to talk about Pectel information as resources for that are pretty much non existent.

AI is very good at deciphering and summarizing large texts. AI is also very good at parsing the internet for all solutions that people have used to resolve a problem in the past. Same thing most of us used to do by browsing 8 different forums with 15 different search queries and dozens of pages of people coming up with possible solutions. I use it frequently and its great at letting me skip the leg work of parsing for solutions from other people and just bringing them front and center. It poses a great threat for forums and Facebook sections where people look for technical answers.

Can't tell you about lowered floor advantages but as a 5ft7 man on a good day, In Tillet seats I feel I'm almost too low in standard s3 with aero screen. -
Oh My God!! Caterham 7 Front LED light ... we all need one!
Vovchandr replied to pickles's topic in General Tech
That looks really good to my eye, maybe partially due to it being dark but either way. The sizing looks right. Is this question for both sizes or only questionable for bigger? Smaller looks great as is and I can only assume is not in question. -

Without seeing this live, logically I'd say most of us aren't looking for brightness beyond typical LED brightness and would rather have something that fits the ratios even if dimmer. Which one do you have in the example video a few posts above? -

It's a California buyer and this was California pre approved which makes it very desirable for those living there. Lack of heater and windshield also makes it a SoCal perfect car. Overall very nice car that's going to need new tires and likely a number of rubber items replaced but should be good. I still believe the 200+ HP numbers are a bit optimistic especially with acceleration video not being impressive but it's not my monkey and not my circus. Healthy value for a nice car. Wouldn't be surprised if reserve was closer to $50k before they came to agreement. -

Uh. I don't think that's 310hp per 500lbs. Wonder what the reserve on BaT one was. -
General Zetec powered Caterhams/7's discussion
Vovchandr replied to Vovchandr's topic in General Tech
176hp or so ITB Zetec The build consisted of cylinder head modifications, increased compression, porting and polishing, valve train conversion, competition valve springs, Kent FZ2002 camshafts (power band on these are 2,500-7,000 rpm), and Esslinger Engineering adjustable cam pulleys (very good, lets you easily fine tune the cam timing). Manifolds were ported and polished. New exhaust headers. The bottom end modifications consisted of balanced crankshaft, piston rods and pistons, ARP rod bolts, new bearings and rings, and a modified and baffled oil pan, new oil pump, and new water pump. In addition a lightened and balanced fly wheel with a heavy duty clutch assembly was installed. And I need to add the TWM fuel injection and Electromotive TEC2 engine management, all very good. The engine is very tractable with a wide power band. The shift light (orange light in Photo 81) is currently set at 7,250 rpm which is a little high (I normally shift around max torque which is at 6,250 rpm). Rev limiter is set at 7,500 rpm. -
Number of questions about this car but its certainly pretty good looking and a good build. @Croc Correct me if I'm wrong but thats not an FIA bar without a petty bar or cross bracing? Pretty sure its a US SLR as he even calls it in the video but R300 label is strange
