  1. Any time, my friend.
  2. W00T! More pictures at www.hals7.com. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/631439910_InteriorAndDash.JPG
  3. Today is my last day as a non-Seven owner. (The kit arrives tomorrow.) It has been lots of fun waiting for the big day, researching the build, and meeting Seven owners. Now a few loose ends before I get started. Maybe you can help with one of these? 1. Copper Greese. The build manual calls for copper grease on any bolts that do not need loc-tite. Some have even suggested putting copper grease on all electrical connections. Problem is, I cannot find copper grease in the US. Any alternatives or should I order this from the UK? 2. Torque Wrench. My two torque wrenches have been well cared for. Is it necessary to take these somewhere to have them calibrated? Should I calibrate them myself or don't worry about it? 3. Fuel Cell. Despite some opposition from experts on this forum, I ordered the fuel cell. Any tips for installing it or keeping it working? I would like to put a glass filter in-line somewhere that I can inspect periodically for debris. Any tips for which filter to get and where to install it? 4. Attaching Wings. The front cycle wings call for drilling holes in the fibreglass. One Seven owner recommended bonding fasteners to the wings and attaching them to the braces using cable ties. Problem is I have not been able to locate the fasteners. There is a British fastener called "BigHead" that looks perfect, but I cannot find it in the US. Thanks!
  4. Nice write-ups. Thanks for posting!!!
  5. Try the link again: www.hals7.com I was told the main image was broken. :banghead: :_deadhorse:
  6. :hurray: :hurray: :hurray:
  7. Sort of duplicate post. :banghead: But the write up on Jalopnik by Navarro is worth a read. The other thread is http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=1753
  8. Nice job! :hurray: http://jalopnik.com/cars/al-navarro-does-detroit/al-navarro-does-detroit-what-kind-of-commercial-does-three%20and%20a%20half-enzos-buy-you-327336.php?autoplay=true
  9. Hello USA7s! Name is Harold, age 41, Maryland software consultant doing mostly Java server applications. Ordered a Caterham kit a few months back and expect it to arrive any day now. Going mad waiting. :banghead: Enjoyed a blat with some local sevens this year. Also got first actual ride in a seven this year--ordered mine shortly after that experience. :flag: Decided to blog about the journey at www.hals7.com. Check it out. More content soon! Thanks to everyone who has been so helpful so far. --Harold
  10. Okay, okay, okay...the Corvette. W/E  I am still watching. If I see somebody breaking into your garage, should I dial 911, or just post a reply here. (Figure the latter is faster.)
  11. I feel lonelier now that I am there. Do you have mice in your garage? Can you please put a Seven sticker on the Firebird or something? I'd rather watch your garden hose drip.
  12. One piece of advice given to me was to NOT put slicks on these cars. If the car sticks too well during a side impact, then the car tries to stand still while the driver takes the impact. On normal tires, the car should be propelled sideways leaving the driver with a chance to survive.
  13. This could be the source of this urban legend...EDIT!...Doh! This post refers to the fuel pump. :banghead:  http://www.californiacaterhamclub.com/chat/showthread.php?t=301
  14. www.RonPaul2008.com  I actually put a sign in the front yard and a bumper sticker on the Elise. At 41 years of age, I am a longtime Libertarian. Very much influenced by Ayn Rand in my 20s. Anyone else?
  15. Estimated four (4) weeks delivery. Purchased through this dealer. http://www.hrpworld.com/index.cfm?form_prod_id=875,100,50_649&action=product Spoke with the manufacturer, FuelSafe, and they explained that the tank has an opening, around the filler, that can be unscrewed to replace the foam. Overall the manufacturer was very helpful in explaining this. I encourage you to call them yourself. As far as "bolts right in", it should. FuelSafe cannot vouche for any design changes in the seven you are looking at. They suggest measuring the dimensions of the original tank that you are replacing. I took a chance and ordered the tank (still waiting on the car kit), because I believe the dimensions have not changed. FuelSafe has two options: ordering their Lotus cell (the link above) or sending your tank to them for conversion. The first option is cheaper, and that is the one I went with. If you are worried about fit, then you could send your tank to them. Also, I am thinking of adding a clear in-line fuel filter between the tank and the pump as others have done. My rationale is that I want to see if any particles from the foam enter the fuel line, 1-3 years down the road. BTW, I have about two more weeks to wait for the car kit! The wait is killing me!
  16. FWIW, I just got the FuelSafe 7 gal. tank for under $1300. The tank does not need to be replaced, but the foam filling does every 2-3 years. And it does not require returning the tank to the manufacturer.
  17. I'm under the impression that it reduces capacity, but not by 1/3. The foam content must be replaced, but not the whole unit. I have heard of trouble starting/running if the valves are not open correctly, but I will take my chance. If it works, it could save a trip to the burn unit. If not, I can revert to the stock tank. Thanks for the input.
  18. :banghead: I stand corrected.
  19. Does anyone else wonder why Caterham (or Birkin, or Westfield, etc.) does not offer a kit car as an expression of a different early Lotus model? Wouldn't a Caterham 11 or 12 be sweet?!? It seems like a logical extension of their very successful product lines. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1726560868_LotusEleven.jpg
  20. Ordering one of these! http://www.hrpworld.com/index.cfm?form_prod_id=875,100,50_649&action=product
  21. First bolts of the project, got the bell housing attached to the gearbox! :hurray: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/32693320_2007-10-21-GearboxBellHousingD.JPG
  22. Welcome aboard. I'm very new at this too, with a kit on the way. But I'm going the 4-cylinder route. Cheers!
  23. The beginning of the end of the "blat" as we know it.
  24. The beginning of the end of the "blat" as we know it.
