Jon, I actually started with the proverbial left testicle. But didn't find many takers. -

Who the heck are all these new people?!?!

Damn, and I had always thought we were a friendly lot.... -
Even with a full windshield, I use MOTORCYCLE helmet on highway to minimize wind wear & tear on my face/ears. However, I've found that I've gotten acclimated to driving seven around town without even glasses...no more tearing up.... For passengers, I have some wiley-esque shatterproofs that I got at a motorcycle store...

It's true. I'm putting my beloved Orange Caterham Superlight R up for sale. Don't worry, I'm not selling the trailer, though...because I'm sure it's just a matter of time before I'm back in the Se7en saddle. Probably in an S2... For details on the car, see this thread: Al N.'s Orange Superlight R For more pix, visit: www.gardenstatesevens.org It's got the Zetec with ITBs and 6 speed...full windshield and ATL 55 liter Fuel Cell, 195/45-15s all around. Carbon front and rear fenders & dash. Painted carbon nosecone. Composite (not Kevlar/carbon) seats. I have a Caged FIA rollbar and the original "r500" style one that is on the car. I am the first and only owner. Built by Rex M. of Speed Classics in AZ. Approx 4000 miles (and only one, slightly damp Auto-X!) It's registered in NJ as a collector car (reconstructed title), and uses the Pectel standalone ECU...check the titling/registration/emission laws in your state if interested. Prospective buyers should email me: al at mintadv dot com. Put "Orange" in subject line. Condolences not necessary. You can also reach me at 908-399-1226. Replacement value close to $70k. A fast and clean Caterham from a known seller.

Folks- I'm crossposting here to catch as many eyeballs as possible. In the National Events section, I've just posted two threads regarding the two top candidates for the next national meet, scheduled for Summer 2009. This is the Ozarks thread This is the Wyoming/Montana thread Please take a moment to cast a vote for one or both of the proposed meet sites. A downloadable PDF that summarizes each location is available in the first post of either thread. Thanks advance for your participation in these polls and threads. Al Navarro USA7s Club Secretary

Here is the file with the descriptions of both destinations: /Users/alnavarro/Desktop/ Car Stuff/2009 USA7s National Proposal.doc

This is the thread for the Ozarks site under consideration for the 2009 National Meet. Our goal is to have a more central location so that people from more parts of the country can participate. Note that we are looking into transportation from the coasts to make it easier to plan the trip (by shipping your car, you won't have to take into account the days it takes to drive to the meet site). I will be posting a document here that briefly describes both locations and provides route maps and possible host hotels. Note that voting here does not obligate you — we're just trying to get a better read on levels of commitment/interest. Al Navarro USA7s Club Secretary

Okay folks, thanks to Gert B. & Jerry E., we have some additional detail on the two leading national meet destinations for 2009. I will be creating two new threads in this section, one for Wyoming/MT and one for the Ozarks. This will allow people to comment on both independently and also to vote independently (it's not an "or" situation...some of us -- myself included -- might be up for either). In my first post for each, there will be a downloadable document that contains info and route maps for both destinations. Note that we are looking into transportation from the coasts to make it easier to plan the trip (by shipping your car, you won't have to take into account the days it takes to drive to the meet site). Is it Spring yet? -Al

Please introduce yourself here: The "Tell us a little about yourselves" thread Oh, and welcome to the USA7s Forum!

Hmm..I'll just say this...is there any reason the 15" CSR wheels won't fit a narrow car with some modification? They are 9" wide at the rear. (No, I am not the person trying this. I'm sure he or she will report how it words when the time is right. I think I'd get the Rial wheels at Fluke if I were to upgrade.)
-
Actually, there is another configuration being tried by a lister who shall go unnamed that I am even more curious about....
-
To recreate now with a Zetec running ITBs? Over $60k built, I think...throw in some upgrades like a Fuel Cell, and you'd be close to $70k. Is that Rich Kamp's outfit?
-
I gave Kevin my own personal USA7s banner! As for the stickers, we're working on it, people...

550 HP factory Caterham-all right then!

You know what I don't like about this car? The headlights...the smaller multi-pod ones just don't do it for me. -
Harold, you may want to consider coating that little bolt on the top of the fuel pressure regulator with some sort of sealer...I've driven my car in the rain and it's one of only items in the engine compartment that I see with any oxidation on it. -Al

Frank- Welcome aboard. You certainly live in a place where a Se7en could see lots of use...right now in NJ I'm looking at 5-8 inches of snow followed by sleet/freezing rain. If you're in AZ, you might as well look up Rex M. of Speed Classics if you want to go the Caterham route. Rex built my car and did an excellent job.
-
They came with my car and everyone knows I hardly drive it , so I still have the originals. You can get them through the Caterham network and a few specialty dealers...like this one: AIM Tire They're about $200 a pop. I've got a little over 3,000 miles on them with lots of tread left. Keep in mind I don't auto-x (okay, I did it once in the pouring rain):ack: Oh, and that should have said Avon CR500. ---- Skip - My other cars/daily drivers are all 4WD, so the staggered fitment isn't an option there. I don't know of any issues with RWD cars, but wonder if sidewall bulge would be appreciably different. I guess I always think of wider tire = wider rim.
-
So you use the same rim width but different tire sizes...is this common on Se7ens? (It's definitely not for street cars, in my experience.) FWIW, my Cat came with 195s all around on same width rims.

I second John T's WTG cable info. I have a Raceline water rail now, but recall that both the ECU sensor and gauge sensor plugged into the black plastic housing at the driver side rear of the engine...the ECU vertically from the top and the WTG horizontally from the rear (?).
