  1. Leaps and bounds? We're nearing 700 forum members. As my friend from NZ says, "Good on you." fellows.
  2. Guys, I just got back to the office, and from what I can see...Kevin and Michelle are in 3rd OVERALL!!! Not just 3rd in an event. Wow.
  3. Aww, I'm getting all misty.
  4. Pretty sure that Frank F. in ohio has a 2007 CSR 260...though i think he built it.
  5. May 17th Carlisle Dinner Poll Thread Crossposting here for max visibility....if you are going to Carlisle and want to dine and dish with fellow seveners, please chime in over there. Thanks in advance. -Al
  6. Fellow Seveners... Did you know that it's Dickinson College graduation the weekend of May 17th?!? This limits our dining options (and as you may have already realized, your housing options). However, there are 2 places that have openings for us (and are willing to take a reservation) after the show on Saturday May 17th: Chilis of Carlisle Yes, the chain. The nice thing is that they are willing to take a reservation for a group. Parts of parking lot are well in view of dining room...perhaps if we commit they can reserve those areas for us. Price: figure $20 per person (no alcohol) IIRC, this is very close to 81 entrance ramp. Allenberry Resort Buffet Allenberry is a charming (or dated, depending on who you ask) little resort in nearby Boiling Springs. They have a buffet there for $28.95 plus tax and gratuity...figure $36/person. We can get a private room if enough people commit soon enough. Parking lot is well obscured from main road. Allenberry website DINNER WILL BE AT 7 PM As for the group drive, I will put together a route based on some local info (my brother lives there), but I will not be taking part...as my current car will be going to its new owner very shortly. I will also have my 2 kids (but no wife...she's working) that day/night. Note that we will have some stickers and info to hand out. As for Club memberships, we were thinking of having an open enrollment period from June 7 to Aug 7 to simply matters for the officers, but will be open to taking checks and info sheets at the Carlisle event. I'm going to set up a poll to see where people would rather eat. If you are committed to dining with us, please post the number in your part in this thread. See you all soon. -Al P.S. It's only starting to dawn on me that I'm going to be "out of the saddle" soon...
  7. I think we're up to 16 committed cars (weather permitted, of course!)

    Walrus' ride

Walrus, welcome! Take a sec to introduce yourself (if you haven't already) over at the "Tell us a little about yourself" section...and no worries, we like long stories when they have to do with Se7ens!
  9. Like I said, there's some debate...what are those exhaust valve measurements again? Also, there's no denying that the Cosworth head uses a recon'd head as a starting, as opposed to the FR head, which is new stock.
  10. Jeff, do you have the SVT or the regular Zetec motor? I forget...though I think it's the latter. There is some debate over the Ford Racing head vs. the Focus Sport/Cosworth head in terms of flow...but I was swayed to the side of the FR piece...it's new, for starters (as opposed to a donor-reconditioned piece by Cosworth)...it also comes with large valves in and out. If I were to do it, I'd use this outfit up near Carlisle...I have their info at my desk at work, will post on monday. They tune "all motor" zetecs for drag, so know a thing or two about optimization.
  11. Hey, at least my speedo/odo works! (I'm looking at you, SnakeBit.) :jester: As for mods, besides getting some 13 x8" wheels and slicks...I've already told Morgan that he should find about $2K for the Ford Racing head, porting and polishing, and some even hotter cams. I know a few people who would be interested in the existing head, so he can sell it to offset the new new head.
  12. Actually guys, I think Orange's goodbye party is the Carlisle meet...mebbe we should all sign the inside of the bonnet?!? FYI...I called of Broadway Blat on May 10th...need to get Orange home in one piece! See some of you on the 17th. And please don't tease or cajole Morgan about/into auto-xing as much as you have me! --- Not entirely joking, this could be a nice tradition at meets.
  13. I can vouch for the dealer...Peter Sweeny, the proprietor, is a very reputable exotics (mostly V-8 Ferraris) guy up in our area. I'd buy a car from him (though perhaps not this particular one, too many odd details for my taste...like the double fuel filler)...
  14. Anyone else interested in coming along? I have a film crew who might be interested in filming it...but we'd have to get a critical mass of cars... If not, I will probably just drive straight home since the car will be changing hands very soon... Please chime in ASAP if interested.
  15. John-I will be at Carlisle with the car...new owner has given me a pass for that one! Actually, I may ship it from there...will send you an email to see if you know anything about the transit companies offering deals from the show. -Al
  16. Jeff U.'s R-1 Locost...
  17. Martin...the LSiS descriptor came out of an article a few years back (forget if it was Kit Car or Grassroots Motorsports) that referred to the many variants of Se7ens as "Lotus Seven-inspired Sportscars". The USA7s forum (and the club behind it) is meant to be a resource for all marques and models of LSiS vehicles. We foster friendly relationships between all the brands and owners...with as little hierarchical thinking as possible. This means we generally don't call non-Lotus cars "clones" or speak of them in "less than genuine" terms. There are plenty of elitist/exclusionary sites out there...this forum was not intended to be (and in my experience has not been) one of them. One thing I'll say is that I've met some fast cars and fast drivers through my involvement in the club, in all sorts of cars. Arguably one of the most coveted/respected cars here is Jeff U.'s R-1 powered Locost...which has a fit and finish better than some production cars.
  18. You should try and road trip with the forum member from your area...look in the "So tell us a little about yourself" section...I think his name is Martin.
  19. Alas, after very few miles, and very many smiles, my custodianship of the Se7en known as Orange will be coming to an end shortly. This is a very sappy way of letting everyone know that I accepted an offer from a buyer this AM. Best part of the morning? Upon hearing the news, Laura said to me "Now we just have to keep working until we get another one...." Amen to that. Thanks everyone!
  20. Ed, I'm surprised that showing them that you were a bona fide Seven owner didn't seal the deal...and also that they don't offer an r500 for those customers who are used to a certain power to weight ratio!
  21. Martin- Welcome aboard...there are a few Se7eners in the ATL area, check out the Frappr map: USA7s Frappr Map There is a very nice Westfield with Miata drivetrain for sale in NC, at a very good price..check out the listing in the "For Sale" section... -Al BTW, how did you finally find this site?
  22. Link to Jalopnik.com post on ThoRR Electric Seven
  23. How does Frank like the CSR? And did Pat take over the old crossflow?
  24. Dave, I think a Series 2 weighs in at about 1080 lbs. And Ted Wenz sez 150 hp is pretty easily reachable....
