Don How about a Westfield Mazda Sport ? The Miata drivetrain is retained but you end up with a car that weighs about 1320 lbs (with some nice comfort options) I ran mine at VIR and it makes fools out of many more expensive cars. Sorry for the late reply to this one. Wow, that clearance was asking for trouble. The oil pan is a low point on the car but I checked and we have at least 3 inches with driver in car. I have been over regular speed bumps without a problem.

GUYS !!!! Thanks for all of the compliments. The exact weight of the car as shown, with screens fitted is 1341 lbs. Weight distribution is 49.5% to the rear with a perfect 50% cross with 220 lbs in drivers seat. I just set it up last week. The motor is a stock 1.6 running without a Catalyst and with a free flowing intake system. Stock hp is about 120 so I imagine about 125 but I have not had it on a rolling road.This motor is known for being a screamer though. The rear end is from a 92 and is not LSD. - Non torsen LSD's are not that reliable and also can create some "push". The torsens are very reliable but behave much like an open diff until things get really bad. I can tell you that the car will put 2 x black streaks down (tried on old tires) and seems to have no problem in keeping power to both wheels on the track, the light weight helps this. FYI - Lotus advise against fitting a LSD to the elise due to "push" problems. I have access to Mazdaspeed rebuilt diffs if any buyer wanted to upgrade, cost would be $980.00 and free installation. The parts cost of $980.00 is open to all members, not just the new owner of this car. I think the price is good too. The upgrades were not cheap due to the exchange rate and the fact that they are genuine Westfield parts. The whole car is now for sale at less than the parts only cost to build this car.

Autopro have been busy doing some upgrades on the Westy. The upgrades are completed and the car is ready for a new owner. This is the second Mazda Sport to enter the USA and also the car that prompted Jonny Lieberman from www.Jalopnik.com to state that a Lotus Elise now feels like a "fat sloppy pig" and this very Westfield was "the car he would take home" . Upgrades include powder coated chassis and suspension, race seats on slide mounts, 5 point 3 inch harnesses, removable steering wheel, quick steering rack, nylon suspension bushings , heated windshield, long range fuel tank, Westfield shift knob, trunk tonneau cover and removable rear fenders , Just added - *** New Kosei 15" wheels and tires, side screens and Westfield RAC approved roll bar*** The following new parts fitted to the Miata donor components include - Slotted and cross drilled brake rotors, new brake pads, water pump, timing belt and tensioner, plug wires, spark plugs, front and rear crank seals, transmission input and output seals, clutch, clutch slave cylinder, shift lever seal, valve cover gasket, synthetic fluids, thermostat, oxygen sensor, exhaust header gaskets and all filters. All donor components were painted/reconditioned and look better than new. A North Carolina title will be supplied to the new owner of this fantastic car. Westfield owner and size 14 feet , 6ft 6ins high. I like to drive in Sparco shoes but I can drive with regular running shoes without problem.

OK guys !! Upgrades are ordered. They include 15" Wheels and tires, side screens , RAC roll bar and more. I will post pics as they are fitted. We are also going to be moving into a 5000 sq ft workshop in North Raleigh and will be along side a very successful spec miata team so lots to see. This will be occuring within 2 weeks and anyone wishing to visit will be more than welcome. I will keep you all posted.

OK - Parts are ordered !!! RAC bar , side screens and we will also be adding a half hood. Thankyou to everyone so far for suggestions and please keep them coming. Next question - Who wants to buy it then ?

I will not be there unfortunately. I do some work for a Grand Am team but we run in the "koni" challenge. The cars in Birmingham will be the Rolex cars only. We are very close to Raleigh Durham airport (about 5 mins) so if you ever wanted to fly in and take a look , I could pick you up .

We run this car at VIR on club days and have been very impressed with the performance . Will it take a Porsche 911 GT3 ? no , of course not but it will suprise them in the corners . We regularly outperform boxter , mini cooper , spec miata, mustang and RX8 owners to name a few.This car was always intended to be ultra reliable on cruises , in traffic and on the track. This is a car you can drive to and on the track aswell as back home again and we often do just that ! I had the car tested by a company that instructs in a similar design car and he freely admitted that the Westfield handled far better and was actually the most neutral handling car he had ever driven. Another vote for the RAC bar.

The full cage will be fitted onto the next car as this will be aimed directly at the track enthusiast but I aimed this car for the road and track so a full cage may be a little extreme. The full cage does complement the aeroscreen very well though.

Please do send some pics of your boot box , my email is doug@autopro-motorsport.com I have fitted the roll bar to several cars in the UK at our other facility but will check out WSCC as I am always open to new ideas. I agree about the Miata drivetrain and with so many donor components , if you can work on a Miata , you can fix this too , it just has about half the wiring !! The car did get great reviews and thankyou for reading them. This really is a great car and as the dollar is so weak vs the GBP , it is getting a bigger bargain as time goes on. I would love to keep the car for my son but as he is only 3 months old and we are a Westfield dealer , I really think that I should do my duty and carry on trying to populate the USA with these fantastic cars. So far the full weather gear seems to be out although side screens may be in. The roll bar seems to be 100%.
