  1. Updated with a few build pics through 6-18-08, and on display at the Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Open House. The Planet Color paint in the sun is amazing. http://www.marshsite.com/s2k.htm Loren, more pedal box and steering shaft detail pics here: http://www.marshsite.com/pb.htm I had to extend the upper mounting tab to get the gigantic heim to clear the frame tube so I could get the steering shaft down close to the tube.
  2. That looked very fast, and very fun. It did seem like the Radical was walking away from you early on though, and then slowed way down? Still if you are chasing down GT3's you're bookin' Busa, do you ever come down to Pacific Raceways in WA?
  3. Mondo - Nope, that's just my fuel-pump mounting bracket that secures it into the surge box that goes inside the FuelSafe Cell. Did you get your front fenders mounted? You can see mine are on now, let me know if you have any questions. Nevermind, I just saw the pic of your car at Buttonwillow, with fenders! WestTexasS2K - Some pics emailed, I'll get more once it's mounted again.
  4. Thanks all. So I do have the whole pedal assembly sorted out, as far as spacing, clearance and overall positioning. I am 5'9", and I think I like the pedals closer to me than the average driver. Right now the pedal assembly is mounted on the included slides, which are then mounted on 1" square aluminum tubes, which are on 1/4" aluminum angle or flat stock. This seems like it might put the pedals way high off the floor, but actually they are only about 1/2" higher than the brake pedal in my M3, and that's before carpet or anything on the floor of the Ultralite. You saw where I lowered the front mount for the steering column using a pice of 5/8"-18 allthread and a coupling nut, plus the rear mount at the dash is about a gnat's eyelash above the dash frame tube. All of those added together allow the pedals to slide close enough before the 90 deg SS brake line end bumps into the oversize steering shaft. Thanks on the center console, it was a huge PITA, probably my least favorite part of the whole build... still not 100% sorted out. The wheels are SSR GT-10's, 18x8's 35mm offset front and rear. Tires are 235/40-18 PS2's.
  5. :leaving: Rolling under my own power: http://www.marshsite.com/s2k.htm updated 6-08-08
  6. Great stuff Kevin, I can't wait to get mine finished and on the track. I've added you to my list of heroes along with Spider-man and Iron Man.
  7. I figure my IRS Economic Stimulus payment :flag: buys me about 350-400 gallons of fuel... Paid $4.99 for deisel in the Excursion :ack:, was a good deal when I bought it at $2.99/gal and 18mpg, now it's about a wash with a gas-powered equivalent. :nopity: Oh well I still have my torque!
  8. Updates from 05-12 and 05-24: http://www.marshsite.com/s2k.htm
  9. Some of you have seen my setup in the Youtube videos: Obviously Youtube reduces video quality when you upload your video. (especially the still snapshots!) and The cameras are 520-line resolution bullet cams with Sony CCD imagers, the DVR will record 640x480@30fps or 720x480@17fps. The system for sale is basically this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290049337243 with a third camera ($165), plus a 4GB SD card (which holds over 4 hours of video), plus some additional lenses (for different fields of view), spare li-ion battery for DVR , and various other bits. About $1200 invested, used one season, asking $1000. Installation assistance available if needed. Chad (206)396-2661
  10. Not to detract from Kevin and Michelle's most amazing and historical accomplishments (and I'm obviously an Ultralite fan), but one correction there, in the 2006 One Lap the Microsoft Xbox Project Gotham Racing team had Art Director Kiki Wolfkill and Game Design Director Chris Novak finish in 10th place overall in their Noble M400. Kiki is a woman and was co-driver. There was some television show about it on at some point, if anyone recalls what it was or where to get a copy please post. It seems like the One Lap could sure use more television or video coverage of some form.
  11. I tried them both ways, the standard way just seemed to have them hanging out too far, and visibility is still good with them tucked in close.
  12. Thanks Bruce. I think end of July might be a realistic estimate at this point.
  13. Is it Green? No Is it Supercharged? No Is it currently racing across America? No, but it dreams about these things... http://www.marshsite.com/s2k.htm
  14. No bids either, seems like a good price: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Brunton-Stalker-V6-FUN-FAST_W0QQitemZ230190508709 and will fit the bigger drivers.
  15. Kyle, there is an Ultralite S2K at Park Place, a dealer in Bellevue, WA that you could probably try on for size: http://www.parkplaceltd.com/vehicle.aspx?s=lotus-used&year=2004&make=Lotus&modelSuper%20Seven%20S2%20Replica&inv=304&vin=1W9PAR2A04R389045&pos=7&current=1&size=50 Mine will be here for Thanksgiving, but only just arrived, and I won't have seats or pedal box or anything installed yet...
  16. I don't know, I think I am that audience, although I don't typically fall into the 'a lot of folks' type groups, so you may be right. I had an Evo 8, now have an M3, both are spectacular cars with similar performance characteristics. Out of the box I would give the edge to the Evo on steering and suspension, the M3 on all other aspects, including overall fun factor. The Evo is definitely the more 'boy racer' type of the two, popular with the younger crowd, probably due to the enormous wing and the lower cost. I remember driving it by high schools and being seriously gawked at.
  17. Apologies if it's been posted previously, but it's worth watching again... (and again)
  18. Ok, my turn. I'm 38, married with a 6 yr old daughter and a 4 yr old son (handfuls). I'm a technology consultant by trade, focusing primarily on business networks and voice over IP technologies. For fun, I've done quite a lot of woodworking (mostly in the past but still have all the tools) http://www.marshsite.com, whitewater kayaking/rafting, and more recently metalworking (took a class, bought a TIG welder, built a go-cart) http://www.marshsite.com/cart1.htm As you can see from that last picture, I really need to get the shop cleaned up before my Ultralite S2K kit gets here! http://www.marshsite.com/chadscar2.jpg I've been taking my M3 to track events for about a year and a half, and am looking forward to taking it to the next level. I'm about 45 minutes from Seattle and 10 minutes from Pacific Raceways, which is where I have most of my fun. Any other Seven owners in the Seattle area? Glad to be here. Regards,
