  3. Hmmm, so I thought today was gonna be the day that I got my Birkin fired up for the first time.... No. The problem.. the engine will not turn over...( with the plugs in).... it turns over easily with the plugs removed...but the starter just seems to jam when the plugs are in?? I have tried different batteries including one brand new one.. I can turn over the engine with the plugs in by using a wrench on the crank bolt.... so why won’t the starter spin the engine with the plugs installed.... has me beat....
  4. Wow! Impressed. That’s a slick set up.
  5. I’m curious how this turned out?
  6. I have started thinking of how I want my finished Birkin to look.... and was wondering if it is worth wrapping it instead of painting it... on the assumption that it will be cheaper.... and the aluminum would still be there in case I want that back at some stage?..... has anybody done this with a Seven?..... would it stand up to the heat around the Collector pipes exiting the engine compartment? any thoughts welcome:) Clark
  7. Thanks guys.. I DO need the support.... isn’t car building UP there with the loneliest jobs in the world:)
  8. Hi, In Kelowna BC Canada... also known as Napa North;-) ... I just popped back in to the house to say “problem solved”... my issue was not the “earthing of the turn signal lamp” that I had read about........ it was much stupider than!!!!!... I had misunderstood slomove earlier wiring diagram and had grounded one of the indicator lamps..... and attached a wire from both RHS AND LHS to the other wire.... in effect joining all four flashers together..... oh dear!!!! Anyway... despite feeling stupid... I am Sooooo pleased that I have it solved.... it was literally keeping me up at night:) Now.... what is next on the agenda:)
  9. My current challenge in my Birkin build... Painless/Slomove wiring.... I have checked and double checked and “think” I have it wired correctly.. .. the Hazards work fine..... but unfortunately the turn indicators also activate all the flashers too.... I have checked fuses etc... Anybody have any thoughts....? I have spent hours/ days on this one and am no further ahead... I’m not actually sure how to Troubleshoot this... .. I would rather see no light and have to troubleshoot that than light everywhere:) clark
  10. Thanks John.. I will do.
  11. I am new to the Forum. i am in the process of building a Birkin S3..... BIY 1902.... which fellow Birkin owners may recognize as being an OLD car... yup... circa 2003.... 17 years old...and hasn’t been on the road yet! I am the third owner.. with each having done a little and then let it gather dust. I am at least partly responsible for that, as I have had it gathering dust for 5 years in my garage... BUT no more!.... I am now retired and essentially working on it full time. mechanically it is pretty much together... just in the process of installing a painless wiring system to hook up all the sparky bits. Does anyone know if Slomove still reads the forum? Or how I would get gold of him to ask him some questions about his wiring diagram? There is an anomaly between his fuse layout and his wiring diagram re headlights? the one I am looking at is circa 2004... as the yahoo Birkin group seems to have disappeared with all knowledge gone, I wonder if anyone has any other info with regard to this wiring? thank you muchly in advance for any help getting this baby fired up:)
