  1. well crap. 1st autox is already shot wife is working and son has baseball on both days. looks like no other schedule conflicts at this point until August.
  2. well, i got RA-1s on my magnesium wheels. plan is to get the A6's on the Z06 wheels - BUT, IRS will take several years' worth of autox tires out of my pocket tomorrow, so that will have to wait. :leaving:
  3. Well, I never said I actually tell my passengers that... I just think it's a good idea. I hand my passenger a fire extinguisher before I fire up and tell them "you're in charge of that!" the look is priceless
  4. Good idea. I forgot all about that.
  5. So, I set out to align my car. I was expecting my alignment to be way off, since I had done it just with a level last year, and never had bothered to look at the alignment on the rear. I was pretty shocked to find things were actually really close. The rear was perfectly straight... using lasers on the rear wheels to point to the front of the car, I measured from the frame out - amazingly less than 1/16" difference at about 95" away - so the rear was pointed straight. Moving to the front, I knew camber was off, and I thought toe was off too. As it turns out, Toe was pretty much zero (about 1/32", but that's pretty much the limit of my measurment accuracy). Camber was -1.3 on the right, -1.9 on the left. I will set both to about -1.3. For caster, I had to do a little more work, but my caster setting from side to side was perfect - 3.05 degrees to 3.06 degrees. While I was at it, I made a spreadsheet for calculating caster based on this article: http://www.hunter.com/pub/undercar/2573T/index.htm Here is the spreadsheet: http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/caster.xls
  6. If you are hitting on both sides, you can't make any lateral adjustments to help that. also, I don't see a panhard rod in the pics. One option you have is to stiffen up the suspension. Another one would be to use a small spacer on the wheels.
  7. He has mentioned hunting, but at this point is just super excited about target practice. I don't hunt, but both my brothers are avid hunters. I told him the day he is ready to skin and gut his victim, he's ready to hunt. If he's expecting to shoot something and have someone else do the dirty work, that's a no-go. He loves nature and is not afraid of animals, insects, etc... not sure how he would handle a wounded animal, or having to clean one up.
  8. My first ride in a seven was in Micheal D's seven at an autox event. When I got in, he said to crisscross my arms and grab the shoulder belts. That, along with spreading my legs to brace my knees against the sides was more than enough to lock me in place.
  9. Here he is with my brother watching over his shoulder. So far he can hit the target sheet from 20 yards out. No bullseyes, but shot 3 out of last 10 were within 4" of bullseye
  10. Skip, are you thinking of a handle for helping people get in and out?
  11. This is intentional. It keeps a new user from logging in and spamming everyone rapidly.

    DashDaq

I believe that feature is there under "Global logging and monitoring", but have not had a chance to play with it. The idea is to raise an alarm on a signal that's NOT being displayed. I would use that feature too

With my car on the road now, I finally get to use the gauge unit for real. Here is my experience so far: 1- it's only a 4" display - very small. I have one of the Beta units. New units are now 4.3" - similar to the typical GPS units. 2- the standard skins, while useful for diagnostics, were too hard to read as the primary gauge in an open top car. 3- I had some troubles with my unit (understandable since it was Beta). They provided excellent service, and the unit is running flawlessly. 4- It's amazing how much of a punch this unit packs: Excellent scanner, including manufacturer specific PIDs, MP3 player, data logger (including interfacing with external stand=alone signals such as temp, pressure, accelerometer, etc..., GPS module (extra $), etc... 5- The touch screen is top notch. 6- Its interface is customizable. Right now I'm running a skin one of the users posted that's inspired by the S2000 Here is a closeup of my dash now: You can toggle between 3 different main gauge views... I have setup 2 so far: 1st one... most of it is self explanatory. PMDR is batt, VSPR is miles since last clearing of engine codes (I do not have an odometer) 2nd one... 4 gauges: top 2 are short term fuel trim for left and right bank. bottom 2 are long term fuel trim readings in the middle are o2 sensor readings, spark advance and manifold pressure. Each gauge is customizable. It can also do histograms and log data to a SD card in a few different formats. All this by just connecting to the OBDII connector - not even a seperate power wire. Single cable for gauges.

    Driving roads

I think part of the route we took to Snowshoe a couple of years ago was listed on that site.
  16. yes, they have everything, and ship FAST. Prices are not the best though. You can also try Fastenal - they have stores too.
  17. how much is it per pound?
  18. If they can drop the nonsense and produce a decent reverse trike that can actually sell, i'll be paying attention.
  19. not packing a spare car... just a couple of spare engines and a few spare contact patches
  20. ... and the hanging chads.
  21. hmmm... good point. I *have* been watching my figure But that's not right. I think with clothes on, I'm close to 190. Interesting...
  22. Mobile1 5w30... just the manufacturer's recommended oil.
  23. Rob, yes, my old axle is still at Dennis' shop.
  24. yes, standard LS1 stuff... hose goes from one cover to the other, T's into another hose that goes to a metal valve before dumping in the intake. maybe the valve is a blocked orifice.
  25. nice ride. And I love the Elvis reference.
