  2. why did your welder friend not feel comfortable welding the Supra rear?
  3. here are the scale results...
  4. A while back, I put on a thread for everyone to guess the weight of my car. I believe the contest was for 1 lap in an autox for the person who has the closest guess on weight, and one that has the closest guess on weight distibution. Some people guessed with just the car, others included my weight. I have measured both. This measurement was with approximately 5 gallons of fuel in the tank, as well as a small fire extinguisher and my helmet, gloves, and a couple of spanner wrenches in the car (forgot to take those out). on with the data... I will not have the car in Birmingham this year. I will arrange with the winners about the autox drives
  5. Good point Martin
  6. nope. 17s are the smallest that fit over the brakes. that's a project for next year...
  7. Jeff, is there a significant difference between DOT slicks like the A6 and slicks that don't have to meet DOT standards?
  8. I don't think they make the R25B in my sizes
  9. I don't think babying it is my problem don't get me wrong - she runs strong. no problems with that. I've just not seen condensation inside the cap before. I will take your advice on tomorrow's trip though
  10. well, got home, pretty much said hello and ran in the garage to see how bad a shape I'm in. Hooked everything up, pumped it up and watched as the damn needle slowly sank down again. I figured I might as well look for leaks, and found a few very small ones... each time I would pump it up and watch it come back down ever so slowly - like it was mocking me. Finally pumped it back up after finding yet another super small leak (just enough to damp your finger under pressure). Went in for dinner, came back out, and NO PRESSURE LOSS Held the same exact pressure for 15 minutes. While I was at it, pulled the plugs and looked at them to make sure nothing funky is going on, and all is good. Buttoned everything back up and took her for a spin. Tomorrow is the big weigh in. I still have no idea the condensation came from. After I pulled in tonight, I removed the oil cap to let any water vapor out. Tomorrow I have a couple of one hour drives, so we'll see how it goes.
  11. congrats! We started a newsletter here - meant to be quarterly - but have not had enough interest from contributors.
  12. LOL. that was great. I can picture it in my head.
  13. and WWII leather helmet and pipe too
  14. where did you get those rear fenders? Look awesome.
  15. I believe I may have developed some engine problems I noticed some condensation inside my oil fill cap. Initially thought it was strange, but possibly from just short startups... well, after my half hour drive last weekend, I saw some more condensation when I looked last night. The oil on the dip stick looks perfectly normal (not dirty or sludgy (is that a word?)). I'm running water only (With water wetter) I was low on coolant, but I thought that was due to a leak that I had fixed before. So, tonight I'm going to hook up a pressure tester to the cooling system and find the bad news. I'm hoping it's something simple, but can't see what it would be. if it's not something super simple, hopefully it's just a head gasket and not a more expensive metal part.
  16. hmmm. I think that depends on your pdf application. I wonder if I can convert this to a word doc, or put it online to make it easier. Let me have the weekend to look at it...
  17. We haven't made it easy to find... that's for sure If you have not filled one out, here is the link. Please email to Al. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetForum/upload/20991.USA7sMemberData.pdf
  18. did you have it on the windshield? maybe the orientation was too vertical
  19. I'm getting the car ready for the autox season. My current wheels are 10.5" wide in the rear and 9.5" in the front (18" and 17" diameter). I just scored a 2nd set of wheels that are 1" narrower, and magnesium instead of aluminum. Each wheel is just over 2 lbs lighter. The last autox I went to, my current tires did not even feel warm after a run. So I'm wondering if I should run the lighter/ narrower set for autox. On the other hand, I can use all the traction I can get for acceleration. Thoughts?
  20. Do it yourself. These don't cover caster if you want to change that, but caster can be measured by turning the wheel and measuring camber change, then using a formula
  21. you're on the forum again, but not on IM

  22. You'll still have to play with Matchbox cars
  23. I've sent in my season pass for the Cumberland series. Jeff and Gary can now kick my behind all season.
  24. Hard to tell. couldn''t really open it up. I can tell you she slides the tail out just as nicely now as she did before . I need to invest in some new tires
  25. today is my 40th birthday, and my goal was to get everything together enough to enjoy the car today. well, I stayed up late all week and did my part, but it has rained here the last few days, and it was supposed to do the same for today and the next few days. But magically the sun came out for a few hours and dried the roads. So I got a half hour country road drive in before black clouds rolled in again, and yes, it was glorious. Sorry, no pics from the drive.
