  1. I love the useless information category! It's all the great background stories that make this stuff fun. I worked for Dave Bean for a little while in the late 80s, and one day I was rummaging through an old filing cabinet buried in storage and came a cross a drawer full of large drawings, neatly folded and labeled. Much to my delight, hey were chassis plans for a 20, 22, 23, 7, and a few others. I had them spread out on a table when Dave showed up and asked what the hell I thought I was doing. I told him I was just trying to immerse myself in Lotus knowledge, or some other nervous BS. He winked and said, "Okay, just make sure they don't go missing, I'm going to check." Maybe the shop still has them, who knows?
  2. Cool! My life is complete. Well, at least my drawing set is.
  3. I've also seen this set before, but it always seems to missing Sheet 2. Has anyone seen it, or is it classified...?
  4. Good info, thanks! I'm about two years away from registering (I hope...). Did you end up at that DMV by luck, or did someone refer you there?
  5. California. For a moment, I forgot everyone doesn't live here! Even though it seems like it sometimes.
  6. http://queens-english.org/ There's usually a pretty good general Lotus turnout at this show along with a few 7s. Woodley Park in Van Nuys, near the 405 and 101 junction.
  7. Maybe a tight fit, but I notice everyone still has the proper facial expression!
  8. I think this is one of the key takeaways: A modern car needs wires to run almost everything, including the headlights... A little wisdom for anyone building a car. DON'T FORGET THE WIRES!
  9. I recently bought a T9 shifter from Retroford. Received it in less than a week, but did have to pay a fairly hefty fee to UPS upon receipt.
  10. From the pic it looks like the mounting points are close and the standard Lotus or Caterham type mounts would work. I'd mock it up to be sure. MV8 mentioned the XKE mounts, you can find them at most Jag/British parts suppliers: https://bpnorthwest.com/jaguar/mount-engine-jaguar-to-1971/?srsltid=AfmBOoqDKjDGDW_xK-NKfiNC1KEGSeQ9LjDxc2DI0gqZhte16fSMHKLQ Not sure if the FF mounts will help or not, but they may be a starting point.
  11. The mounting bosses on the left side of the 711M block are about 3/8" thicker than other ford blocks, but they are often milled down to match earlier blocks if an engine is being replaced. Just make sure you double check if using other mounts or engines for reference.
  12. I've used this at Send Cut Send, it's not dimensioned but I was happy with the fit. The bolt holes are 11/32 for 5/16 bolts. I'd print one on paper and cut it out to test fit before you commit to steel. Illustrator file and pdf. Motor Mount Side Plate.ai Motor Mount Side Plate.pdf
  13. I can also confirm it's a real deal. (Mine are also still sitting in a box! )
  14. Starting at @ 0:55 is about how my wife describes my project to her friends. (she's a good sport) Now jump to 2:17 and I just remind her, "But look how much fun we'll have...!"
