  1. You may remember three on the tree column shifters but I doubt you've seen on like this before. Anyone recognize the car? (bsimon and Alaskossie can't play as they already know)
  2. Congrats! Now comes the fun part, building and driving.
  3. That's a different muffler and not available with the 3" inlet and outlet I need for my system. I tried the original part number on the flowmaster site and got nothing. The one pictured above looks perfect for my car, right diameter and length.
  4. I'd like to lower the sound level on my Caterham as well. I went to the Hushpower website and cannot find that muffler by searching on the part number nor "slimline". A Google search didn't yield any results either. Any further info? Where did you buy it?

  6. I've seen the VINs in several different places on Caterhams. Mine is on the back of the pedal box at the rear with a cutout in the ali pedal box cover to let it show through. Some are on the upper frame tube on the passenger side of the engine compartment about a foot forward of the firewall. I suspect there are more places as well.
  7. My '04 Caterham has a VIN from the factory in the correct format and 17 digits. However, the Colorado DMV's computer didn't recognize it as a legitimate VIN so they required that a DMV assigned VIN plate be attached by the highway patrol. The officer managed to install it slightly less than horizontal. :ack: The Colorado VIN is not in the standard format and is much less than 17 digits. It did not show up on the title or registration but the Caterham assigned 17 digit VIN did. Go figure. :willy_nilly:
  8. Sorry, they're not on there yet. :( The resolution is to finally get them finished and on the car. I will post pictures when it happens. I've only had them for two years but haven't got around to finishing off the area where we had to add the extra four inches on the strap across the scuttle. I have to figure out some way to fill some gouges where the welder got carried away with his grinder on the ali and then polish it out.
  9. Robert, Good luck with the DMV.
  10. Finally get the Brooklands screens on the Se7en. Lose 10 more lb. Get the Italia on the road. Have more fun than last year. Happy New Year to all, have a great 2010. Wow, saying twenty ten sure sounds weird, more so than two thousand did. I was OK with '01, '02 and such but to just call a car a '10 also seems weird.
  11. http://laist.com/2009/12/29/video_jay_leno_races_through_los_an.php There is a second video follows automatically after this one that is the Making Of Jay Leno Races Through L.A.'s Hidden Urban Race Track.
  12. There is a show on Speed Channel's Dangerous Drives series this evening at 8 PM Mountain time and repeating at 12:30 about highway 550 in western Colorado. This is the (in)famous Durango to Ouray road that is such a treat to drive in a sports car or a motorcycle. Both the road and the scenery are truly awesome. Much of this road is carved out of cliff faces and has no room for guardrails with sheer drops of up to 800' if you go over the edge. Real men don't need guardrails.

  17. http://www.wonderhowto.com/wonderment/ex-dentist-crafts-insanely-anal-model-airplanes-0113703/ This may have been posted here before but I couldn't find it with a search. It's worth a second look anyway.
  18. Sounds like a pretty good description of a Se7en.
  19. Yep, Hank is at it again. Right now, Miatas outnumber Sevens in my shop 4 to 1. I love them all and none of the four Miata's parts are destined for a Se7en although I do have a spare Miata engine and transmission tucked away in the shop for the Caterham should I ever need it.
  20. Let me add my wishes for all to have a very merry holiday season. Special thanks to Mazda for maintaining this forum and to all the club officers past and present for their efforts to make this a great club and forum.
  21. The pictures don't show it well but the carbon fiber transmission tunnel is work of art. The engine is a Duratec with hot cams. Want to elaborate on the engine Goat? I'd be up for a gathering of Se7ens here in Colorado. We have some fantastic roads here. I could see a week of making a loop around western Colorado hitting many scenic and twisty passes, none of them twice. Maybe even a track day at our new local track. The question is, will the East Coast contingent be up for that long a trip to get here and back? Maybe we could do this to coincide with Alaskossie's trip to California and beyone.
  22. You might remember The Goat from his posts on selling his Elise (or was it an Exige?) and buying a Birkin kit. We are not too distant neighbors and I stopped by today to have a look at his progress and took some pictures. With his permission I am posting them here for your viewing pleasure.
  23. Not necessarily, my Caterham SV came with a nose badge that says Super 7 on it and many S3 type Caterhams are labeled Super 7s. The picture below shows the car with the bonnet and nosecone removed and that is certainly not a Suzuki engine in the car. Yes, there is a Canadian Caterham with the Suzuki engine and called a Super 7 but not all Super 7s come from that company.
  24. http://www.tamsoldracecarsite.net/TomP0000USGrandPrix64Homepage.html Compare the pictures with what you see on F1 broadcasts of this year's races. Unpaved paddocks, mechanics driving the cars to the starting grid, etc. When you hit the end of the slide show there is a link at the bottom that will take you to pictures of the Texas CanAM race of 1969. There is also a link that will take you to the home page where many other old race car photos are posted.
  25. A friend sent me this link on the global warming issue: http://www.kusi.com/home/78477082.html?video=pop&t=a
