It looks from the pictures that there are two different sizes in diameter and the text suggests that there are two different bolt circles.

I saw the wrecked car at RMSC also. It was yellow and Ben said it came from Seattle. That's why I asked the question.

Forum member Bruce Bowker's beautiful 1964 Jaguar E-type coupe is featured in the current issue of Hagerty Magazine. It is in the Your Turn section with before and after pictures of the 10 year restoration project. Congrats Bruce. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/October%202011/DSC00944_edited-1.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/October%202011/DSC00940_edited-1.jpg

What is meant by reassembled? Is this the CSR that was wrecked and required a new frame?

That was in 2008. It now has a twin turbo V8 based on the Chrysler hemi.

A very expensive hillclimb. Turn your speakers up for best effect.

Lots of CARnage on that hill. -
Single piston engine, wheel driven: http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/blog/from_the_marbles/post/You-want-a-fast-car-How-does-462-mph-suit-you-?urn=nascar-wp5428

Jack and his "Seven in disguise" visited us during the Black Hills Tour last summer in Deadwood, SD. When he left the parking lot under full throttle it sounded like a sports car and he managed to get rubber in second gear, on 32 HP! IIRC he was averaging 90+ mpg on this trip running on Diesel rather than fryer oil.

The magazine article on that wind tunnel test is posted at http://usa7s.com/vb/showpost.php?p=42611&postcount=32 Unfortunately the text is too small for my eyes. I have jpg's of the article that can be read if anyone is interested. Three pages of about 2.3 mb each.

I have a deposit on the second of the batch of five cars. I'm torn between the classic BRG with a yellow stripe and clamshells and making it look like my Caterham with Laguna Seca blue color and cycle fenders. Upgradeitis has already set in and I'm scheming on finding a way to fit a larger motorcycle engine with a gearbox. Space is limited since the engine is in the boot and your legs go where the engine would normally be.

A fellow in Colorado Springs builds them from scratch. The frame is built on a jig and the craftsmanship is very good. There are at least two more available as he is making a run of five. There will be a new thread with more info and pictures in a day or two.

My big ticket gift for myself won't be delivered until after Christmas but I put down a deposit on a gas powered 5/8 scale Se7en. It will be similar to this one. http://usa7s.com/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=2820&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1298937824 Sure makes my Caterham look huge.

It has a Suzuki GSXR-750 motor. Found it near the bottom here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=590000&showall=1 Lots of other great pictures from the opening event of the year.

Thank you to all who have served their country in the armed forces. I was in the Navy during the Vietnam war but I was fortunate enough to never be sent there. Today I drove the Caterham in a Local Veterans Day Parade. I was invited by the Geezers (mentioned in another thread) to drive with their Corvette group. About 40 Corvettes, with a Kirkham Cobra and my Caterham bringing up the rear. As I drove onto the parade route a woman handed me two small American flags. I wedged one between the windshield and wind wing and kept the other to wave. There was a very enthusiastic crowd, sometimes four deep along the route. Every time I would wave my flag, dozens of people would wave theirs, give me the thumbs up or shout "Thank You" I was wearing my leather Snoopy hat and that got a lot of "I like your hat" comments. At one point there were hundreds of school kids lined up and as I came along side they started yelling and screaming and waving their flags. About 50 of them stepped out and we did high fives as I motored by. It was a feel good time. When I got out of the Navy in '68 it was better to not mention you were in the armed forces or you risked rude comments and being spit upon. Certainly no one back then ever thanked me for putting in years of my life for my country. The pictures were taken by John Brumder, owner of the Cobra who also owns a Caterham SV. The pictures are used with his permission.

We are a hearty bunch. I drove the Caterham up to Mead for a breakfast meeting with the Geezers club. It was 21F when I left home and a balmy 49F when I got back.

The winch didn't come from Harbor Freight. The smallest they had was about twice the size and weight of this one. I found it on Amazon.com. It is made by Neiko.

In the billiard room at the bowling alley where I worked during high school and early college years: Plod: Why did you outrun me last night? Me: Huh? Plod: You ran the light making a left turn at Center and Main. Me: It was after one AM and the lights had changed to flashing yellow. I didn't know you were back there, let alone chasing me. The guys around the pool table: Laughing their asses off. Plod, turning on his heel and walking away: I'll get you next time.

The winch had a shipping weight of 17 lb. I removed 25' of steel cable and the hook. The rope, pulleys and seat probably add 3 - 5 lb. I don't think it has much effect on the car's power to weight ratio but it certainly affects my fun to non-fun ratio.

Having two severed rotator cuffs, each with a couple of detached muscles makes getting out of a Se7en a difficult and painful ordeal. I decided to see if I could come up with something to help me raise my butt enough to get out of the car without using my shoulders. The first iteration used a hand winch with the crank handle removed and a cut down Makita drill motor to drive it. The first tests showed that the Makita didn't have enough power even when driving it with 12 volts rather than the 9.6 it was designed for. I replaced the Makita and hand winch with a small 12v winch designed for ATVs. Now there was enough power but between the grippiness of the cloth Caterham seats and the angle of lift with the pulleys attached to the roll bar it was uncomfortable being pulled up and back into the seat. I found that if I had my heels on the frame cross bar and leaned forward a bit I could ride up to the level of the door opening and step out from there. The sling type seat is made of denim with steel bar inserts in each end to spread the load. The rope is mountain climbing rope. There are still a few things to tidy up but I think this is going to make driving the Se7en much more tolerable.
