  1. 60 and sunshine!! YIPEEEEeeee :7fume: wave to us today we are out on a BLAT! 330-714-3740 if you are local near Akron and want to meet up!
  2. Well we might be biased...our freinds used to run the one lap..so yah...we enjoyed the video..makes US want to play!! oh...nice rig and the crew is a perfect touch!...you GO girls and guys!:7fume:
  3. Does someone have a phone # for Woody? We will call him. thank you.
  4. Got my copy last night after the post here... Folis congrads! can i get a signature on my magazine? have to look you up if we are ever in your area. nice car by the way. further..i saw a few more se7ens in the magazine as well. a locost and a hillclimb picture. Very cool!
  5. the video right next to it...with the se7en on the wall...is about as bad...i hope it's not the same guy!:_deadhorse:
  6. Dave, who did you use for a supplier? what model # springs? (anyone is free to answer this query) There seems to be ALLOT of cornfusion on the birkin yahoo group over all this. people bending A arms with the wrong spring-shock combo?...but it seems very few correct answers mostly wrong ones.
  7. 8" oh cripes. .I measured mine at about 9 1/4" between the top & bottom shock collars with the car on jacks. it's probably a bit longer free length. The bottom arm angles UP to the body at about 5 degrees. sooo,,uhhh....it came with the wrong springs?...oh great.:banghead: what rate-length should i have on this thing wth the 1600 x-flow in it?. Who is a good source for the correct springs? the rears seems to be in spec with the manual from what i see for collar height.
  8. The ride height of our se7en has seemed a little high...Ok so i took off the front AVO shock to measure it eye-to-eye and i got a dimension of 328mm, The printable manual says 294. I am guessing this is supposed to be the unladen free length. We can see that the collar will set the ride height but it is already "unscrewed" as far as it will go and still have full thread engagement on the shock. So at this point is spring length the limiting factor at lowering the car so it doesnt look like we are doing a baja run? The suspension simply looks way too high. As far as we know these are all stock parts -springs-shocks but the assembled parts wont give the stock dimension we are looking at in the manual. what am i missing here?http://usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/817045054_shock2.jpghttp://usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1643005117_shock1.jpg
  9. all input is greatly appreciated..and yes i will try this. I have the BIG weber book and the jets i have are very close to what a 1600 for x-flow is listed for. What i need a copy of is the theory book. Thanks though we are a sponge soaking up all the info we can.
  10. This is my first set of webers... we always ran S.U.'s forever. (The ginetta isnt really running yet..) Weber 40 dcoe carbs on a 1600 x-flow. mains 125, airs 180 idles 50f9's. nice headers and free muffler. engine is rather plain besides. ok the exhaust pipe is way too black and you can smell the fumes on your jacket after a run. ((yes i know the exhaust outlet on the birkin needs to be moved from the rear to the side)). starts and warms up ok, with a bit of pedal till it's warm no big deal. so we seem to be running rich on the top end a bit..but might wait till warmer weather to make sure. the idle ...start of idle progression is whats confusing. mid throttle thru full seems to be fine. But at idle she farts and backfires more than i would expect. and it has a little hesitation when we first start to open up the butterflies...which would indicate to lean idle jets right?....but... when we shut the car off...about 1/4 second then...BANG..we get a massive backfire out the exhaust, which is like i used to get in the old mazda rx7 rotary!//like it's dumping raw fuel into the exhaust? uhhh... steep weber learning curve here... cant possibly afford ITB system for the x-flow. any suggestions? or is this more normal than i am thinking?
  11. We think it must also depend on what the surface texture is of the material. you can have concrete to almost a polished level. or it can be finished like velcro. the grippiest surface we ever auto-x'd on was a freshly dried concrete at an airport..you could literally see the dust chaff off the tires. I dont think anyone spun the whole day but we had allot of 3 wheeled corners that day. The worst surface we ever ran on was also concrete that had been pounded and polished by a couple years worth of racing tires..it was like glass. new asphalt with the surface weeping it's oil..YIKES!... i would guess these surfaces tested are labratory?..not real world.
  12. Yes thank you for all the hard work making this site great for us all. We appreciate the ability to have a choice thats great. I think we will select the asphalt dark background with white text ,,,,,It makes me go faster..but each to his own,,,sorta like our cars eh? :7drive:
  13. Drove it to work today (32 mi) brrrrrr...fun! I wanted to try out the new clear wind wings i made. The smoked plex ones that came with the car were too dark to use the side mirrors. New clear ones cost 125$ :ack: So 13$ lexan sheet at lowes i cut and bent myself look stock and work fine. cold tires are slippery..hehehe. oh. fwiw the starter on mine has to be the loudest starter i have ever heard. well...besides the starter on my other 711 block ginetta which is just as loud. whats with the starters on these small block fords? cripes.
  14. I like the change....it gives the site a more unique classy look. good shades.
  15. We have used the chalk method for many moons, learned it at our first autocross and it works reasonably well.
  16. Kitcat, summit racing doesnt have much on display. (i stop there about once every couple weeks living only 15 minutes away)If you go with a kirkey it's best to go through their website to see whats available. Then you can perhaps pick it up at summit on the way to save shipping. We used a set of kirkey seats in the ginetta and cut down the sides to have a more vintage look. You'll need the most narrow seats they make. And the kirkeys are better than any fiberglass ones we have seen. We would suggest a bit of repadding or take them to your local re-upholster to have them look like you spent what you will spend. when budget permits we will be putting a set of them in. unless i tig up a set ourselves first. We repadded our stock birkin's to make them a tad more comfy but they have NO support at all! say hello next time you drive by.

  18. Gentlemen...we put on a few more smiles-miles this weekend. Found out some vital things too. The 1600 Xflow is a wonderful little engine,,but sadly underpowered. The car struggles to get much past 100mph at the moment. Confirmed webers are runing a bit rich on the top but lean at idle...uhhh, i think maybe? they backfire a bit on idle. They surely are not S.U's. Also whoever told me that the car would be smeared with oil down the side behind the webers,,,ok you win. But waxing is more theraputic than reading a good book. People will follow you places, just to ask you about the car, and we had 1/2 dozen cell phone pictures taken of us around town while driving. must be the yellow. Needs better brake pads. This car is a complete pleasure! How fun!! Yeah we need to change the avatar,,the wheels will stay as is.((maybe someday pansports)).. The Falkens are the ZIEX style with huge raingroove in the center. i think i will use them for my boat trailer when i change over.
  19. But...could you auto-x it? wouldnt it just blow over the cones when you got close to them?:jonautox:
  20. are you selling the jets seperatly? it might be nice to have a few to try and see if i can get these webers running a little more efficiently.
  21. Thanks for the compliments, we are just trying to bring it up to the level we know most of you se7en'rs keep their cars. We hope it will earn it's repolished patina as time goes on. The trunk was a result of our expectations to do a bit of touring. With the existing "trunk" full of the top and side curtians there wont be much room left, and add a tent and couple sleeping bags...We are really surprized we havnt seen this allot before. trying to keep weight and durability both in mind It's a simple Harley hard leather sissy bar bag we got inexpensivly, and we tig'd up an aluminium frame for it. we could even go larger if we wanted but this fit pretty well. toyo's sound great, these falkens slip around like they are made of bakalite. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1192144356_Picture 001.jpg
  22. easter run, took the family out for some frozen bunny rides this weekend..36 miles worth. The general comment was that everyone was surprised how well behaved the car was for something so small.:7fume: Oh..heres some pics from easter run, with the latest changes-updates: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/494703379_Picture 003.jpghttp://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/561162009_Picture 002.jpg
