  1. I'm telling ya, I'll likely never order a brand new car again. It's the first time I've ever done so. Been an experience, to say the least. Be very, very happy to get my lil machine. 😈πŸ’ͺ😜
  2. Thanks John. Very, very hopeful that after all the sideways delays, the stops and starts, then the backing up and starting again that Caterham and everyone else involved makes this bit of the process as smooth as possible. In my head I'm now plotting a freezing Christmas blat for myself. Lol.
  3. Allegedly my car will be ready to be picked up from Caterham Cars October 10th. Of course as usual not entirely sure if that means October 10th of *this year* or some unknown year in the future lol. Β―\_(ツ)_/Β― From then I guess it wanders to the coast, gets packed on to a barge, them starts wandering westwards towards the east coast here. My best guess is I'll either be in it for cold mountain blats by Christmas or my future grandchildren will stand around it long after I'm gone wondering why I bought a car so violently purple. Either way, I'm crazy excited.
  4. Lol good. I do like standing out.
  5. Yeah here's the thing. Factory has only painted 2 this color thus far. Press car in England and mine (US bound eventually maybe perhaps). Here's the other thing:. I'm never, ever gonna roll up to a stoplight in the same exact car as anyone. Ever. Maybe my mommy didn't hug me enough lol. Plus I love the color.
  6. Thanks @Croc. Bruce has been pretty great thru this whole (incredibly murky and messy) process. I guess one shouldn't expect German precision when ordering a car (Jeremy Clarkson voice) "built in a shed in Kent". I'm anxious to get this car. Even by pandemic Caterham standards, it's been a verrrrry long process. (Wifey says we're not doing this again, says next time I want a fast car I'll just point to a color and get a new 911 out of a vending machine rather than her having to live with me thru this again). Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―
  7. Lol thanks. Santa gonna be pretty good to me this year. Let's be honest, I'm Santa and I am pretty good to me every year! (And to everyone else!)
  8. Wow. Wow. That's pretty good time on the water. You must me AMPED! Hell I'm AMPED for you. Lol
  9. And it will be going to the port of Charleston, then quickly to a flat bed owned by a buddy.
  10. @JohnCh that's great news for you! I'm excited to hear it's two weeks on the water. I was under the impression it would be a good deal longer.
  11. Update: (likely the last one till I see the car in person) I *think* my car is kinda done. I *think* it's maybe making it's way to shipping out of England. I *know* I only think these things. I *know* none of this for sure. Very happy with how it looks in photos. Be happier when it's under my butt. Until then, here ya go. @UglyFast everywhere
  12. Lil different tho. I'd talk to a reputable broker once you're ready ready. UK configurator fun to play with, but there are options not on the menu, vis a vis cars, chassis, etc. And it's not a straight conversion pounds to dollars based on googling on a given day. You also buy the intangibles. The expertise and feedback during the optioning process offered by your broker, their import and transport expertise and other things. Bruce Beachman at Beachman Racing has been incredible. Incredible. I also kinda know Josh at Rocky Mountain Caterham and he's a great guy, and though I've never bought thru him (yet) his customers speak very highly of him as well. His family have been involved in 7's a long time. Although I'm on the east coast, for all of the above reasons, I am using Beachman on the west coast. I suppose you could try and import a CKD on your own, but I don't think Caterham Cars will sell a kit outside of their dealer network outside of the EU. I could be wrong. For reference, my guy. He'll never say this, but he's great and he's race car famous. http://www.beachmanracing.com Having said all that, if you wanna save money and a LOT of time and just wanna get in a car, you can wait a bit and usually a good one will pop up here for sale. Could always do that WHILE you wait for your factory CKD. You can always get your money back out of a good 7 is what I'm told. That's what I should've done. Live and learn. @Alex-Ks1
  13. I forgot to mention, these cars are so light already, every ounce of carbon you add to lighten then further basically adds a grand lol. Jk. But not really.
  14. Lol no idea. Lot of factors. What model, what options, shipping, exchange rate. I think between about $50-70k is a safe bet. Others can please chime in. My car, factory built add a lil, CSR model add a bit, sequential add a bit, paint and other tidbits, add a bit, etc. But if my wife or her lawyers ask, my car was $12,995 plus tax out the door lol Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―
  15. @Alex-Ks1 Lol not sure how ready to roll it is at the moment, as I'm barely clinging to the hope that I'll see it in my natural lifetime. But yeah, CSRs are factory built, and when it gets to me it will be a complete roller, waiting for engine and transmission (which'll arrive with the roller).
  16. Instagram link Update to the updated update: Reskinned. Repainted. Resplendent. https://www.instagram.com/reel/ChpxthbJiMY/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
  17. If I ever get a car from Caterham, I'll be all over the BRP... I might come anyway, in a loping old Toyota lol.
  18. Update without saying much: My car has returned from being re-skinned and is headed to paint (again) and final assembly (again). All I can do is lol. I'll be very happy to have my lil machine. Eventually. Ish. Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―
  19. They disclosed. Via my broker. I don’t wanna say too much but it’s a seemingly small error that requires a big fix. They’re trying to make it right. I think. I haven’t had a firm plan to fix or implement imparted to me, nor an exact time frame. I did get a nice a call from the CEO Bob. He did say they were very sorry. He’s a very nice, very astute and talented car guy. Unfortunately he does not have a Time Machine. I guess these are the things one should expect when buying a very bespoke race car toy from Jolly Old England. I believe they will make it right and I will get a beautiful, fast, unique car. It’s just become clear that due to lots of things I won’t get it in anything close to the timeframe first laid out. Again, I’m fully aware real people have real problems but also this isn’t a shortage, or anything like, it's an build error, so it’s ADDITIONAL added time waiting. I'll tell you all about it once it's fixed and the car is in my grubby lil hands. I'm still very excited for my eventual 7. What are you gonna do, cancel the order and buy a Corvette? Hardly. I'm not ready for adult diapers yet. Lol. (Apologize to Corvette folks! Inside joke)
  20. Lil kinda ugly update: Last Friday Broker Bruce called. There's a *big thing* wrong with my car I've ordered. It went to final assembly and QA and seemed so close to getting put on a ship and heading in my general direction. It is estimated it will add 4-5 weeks to the time at the factory. I'm very, very not happy about this, and in all candidness had it been noticed during the 3+ months wait for a differential, it would have been easily remedied with no ADDED delay. Mistakes happen, I make plenty, but I wish this one had been caught while my car was sitting so long... You all may or may not remember that I *doubled* my initial budget to get a factory built car (week 8) faster than a kit (week 27). My wife the mathematician certainly remembers lol. I'm currently waiting with the standard radio silence on what's going on. Β―\_(ツ)_/Β― The other delays I was a lil meh about, cause parts delays/pandemic/etc. And also not having this toy car is not a REAL problem, and very real people have very real problems and at every turn once said I know Caterham are working very hard. But, this is an error that, like I said, could have easily been remedied in that wait time, had it just been caught. Or better yet, not made at all... But also this car has already cost more than my first home... Waiting to see how it is ultimately handled. They've been nice about it, but now big radio silence. Big question is when/if I will get this car. I now think I may get my 2022 CSR in 2023... Thank you for coming to my (extended) pity party. Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―
  21. Lol nooooooooo. hahahaha
  22. lol lil update. Final assembly, drivetrain sitting in front of my car. I think it’s awfully close to shipping out. Dunno. Then… (pic from a buddy on the internet, a fellow 7-er)
  23. Yeah the One is β€œfor her”, but I’m quite excited about it as well. I like the look of it and the functionality of a medium SUV works very well for us. Hard to pack up a whole family, 2 dogs and all our gear for a beach week in a 7!
  24. lol no idea. Whatever Caterham and Bruce put on the paperwork. I know it comes with an MSO (manufacturers statement of origin). After that the paperwork is kinda a mystery to me.
