Car was running fine over the winter when it had a couple of runs but the battery needed placing. Last ran the car in Feb and drove ~20 miles with the old battery but the car hasn’t been driven much in the last year so I played it safe and replaced the battery today with the same Odessey that was in there before. The car started and then died 10 seconds later. Multiple retries and nothing. Went for lunch. Tried a few more times. It started and immediately died. 2005 Cat with SVT Focus (2003) engine any ideas ? video with sound is here: https://share.icloud.com/photos/0fdMJB-HVP6bSr0nZHIHtxhrw key photo is here. Any chance of this being an immobilizer issue ? (I don’t think so but i’m not experienced enough)

Does anyone have any full and / or half doors they are looking to sell? S3 standard chassis.
-
Thanks. I thought that it would be odd in the lower wb!
-
Thanks @Vovchandr. Can you elaborate on drilling a new hole (sp?) in the lower wishbone. Is that to run the wires?

has anyone had any issues using the newer design Caterham headlight brackets? Personally I think the cars look much better with the 5-3/4” headlights and having them further forward and lower Vs the higher 7-1/2”. I’m a bit surprised I see so many older cars with the larger and higher lights so that’s why I figured I’d ask. From what I can tell it will just leave the small cutout in the nose cone empty where the current bracket goes through. https://caterhamparts.co.uk/brackets/7049-headlamp-bracket-rh-metric.html?search_query=Headlight+bracket&results=235 Car is 2005 Imperial chassis. even though these brackets say ‘metric’ will they fit ? photos for reference

An Annoying 'Feature' On My Seven's Zetec SVT Engine

isn't the Duratec an aluminum block vs Zetec is cast iron? If so, then they definitely aren't the same @Nick OTeen did you have your headers ceramic coated? -

Thanks gents. It definitely seems like more then I want to tackle at the moment and has the potential to be a big rabbit hole I don't want to go down (aka - i'd rather drive it)

Thanks for the help on the ITB question earlier. I'm hoping this one is a bit simpler but also looking for guidance. Car will be ~ 75% road / 25% track laps (not racing at this point) and AutoX. I'm pretty sure it doesn't NEED it. However it would help it sit a bit lower and I'm not a fan of how far the current pan sits below. And I like projects The engine bay is pretty tight and I think the only spot is here shown in green as in the current setup. Looks like some harness/wire migration/moving might need to happen, as well it looks like there is some kind of aluminum "shelf" there. I'm not at the car but will be later this week and will look in more detail.

I'm interested in installing a set of ITB's on a SVT Zetec (car is 2005 - but engine is from 2003). From the notes I have in the car files it's the stock Ford ECU. This is something completely new to me so my questions: would these be plug and play or would I need a new ECU or just a retune (I'm assuming a retune)? What about the harness? Anything else to be concerned about? Thanks!

Is there anybody here in LA or OC who has a 7 SV????

The car today was bought by Wob - a dealer. Was your friend using a dealer to buy the car? And wow - what a price difference between the April 2022 sale and today! -
That’s a BEAST. I love it. Amazing!

The Regular Summary of Classified Ads of Se7ens Found For Sale

So the last 5 cars on BaT have all gone ‘Reserve not met’. Slowing market ? Selling in winter ? Unrealistic Reserves ? although I’d guess winter was a good time so people can work on them before spring? -
Here is an interesting solution, especially for those with small garages. I just spoke with the owner of SuperLifts in Canada. Their lift is designed for ATVs, side by sides etc however those are very similar in size (and sometimes even heavier) than a 7. They are targeting the 2000 Max model for spring 2023. There is also a wall model. https://superlifts.net/2000-max/

yup, i wonder what the reserve was. my guess it still had a long way to go!

I wonder if this one ^^ will also go RNM like the yellow 310 from yesterday. Keep in mind that if you brought a complete car over from the UK or Europe it would probably cost you ~$8-10k just to put it in a 20ft container plus import duty. Roll on Roll off shipping is cheaper but I don't know if you'd really want to do RoRo shipping with a 7 considering they can sit outside at the ports for days (or even weeks?) waiting. @smithengineered Just make sure you are the high bidder even if it does get to RNM since the high bidder gets first bids on striking a deal with the seller. I would also recommend hitting Contact Seller before the auction ends so that you have their contact info, in the event you aren't the high bidder you can at least contact them in case the high bidder doesn't strike a deal. You can't contact them through BaT after the auction has ended. Good luck. This looks like a great car. Basically brand new!

is anyone is brave enough for this project ???!!! https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1004289110261248/ -
It’s probably better to look on the continent and find an LHD car this website is a decent , but not foolproof, aggregator. You can filter by country and then click the original post. However it’s not always easy buying a car overseas if you don’t have someone you trust there to look at it and help with the process https://www.theparking.ca/used-cars/caterham.html but dont forget shipping costs right now aren’t cheap and you’ll pay duty as well there is a nice looking one on BaT right now. I’d go for that and save all the hassle!!
-
So this isn’t technically a lift but this is looks like a pretty neat contraption. Has anyone seen these before or are they custom made ?
-
I’ve been looking into lifts as well. Since a Cat isn’t big , or heavy, this looks like a good option for a small garage (no affiliation) https://www.advantagelifts.com/products/advantage-ml-2000-single-post

@Taber10 excellent. Thanks. Yes removing the air intake pipe was what I meant (not just the filter). That should give me access to find the wire… I suspect. fun times!
-
@MV8 do you mean the white connector on the last photo that isn’t plugged into anything ?
-
@MV8 thanks. That’s what I was hoping to hear that the wires would be coming out there (which makes sense) but I didn’t see them. The car is still several hours away from me so I haven’t had much chance to have access to it. Next time I’m there I’ll make sure to bring tools to take the air filter off since it’s too tight to get in there with it on. I've seen some Caterhams where the washer bottle sits much further forward but with this zetec there isn’t room up there so I wasn’t entirely sure where the wires would be located.

Thanks. The wipers are on and functional. This is about showing that the washer fluid sprayer is working
