Hi Gang, Have a favor to ask. Am interested in the blue 2004 Birkin for sale in Michigan, and was wondering if someone could take a look at it for me. Will pay for your time and travel. Long story short. Got hit with cancer. Finishing off 6 weeks of radiation treatments. Want the car to go autocrossing, car events with my two kids, and teach them about mechanics. The three of us have been trying to decide what fun car to get and we all agreed on a se7en. Would normally fly out myself but right now that is difficult. Thanks Scot

Had a caterham with a rotary. When I first got it the motor and trany were placed too far forward. Difficult to get any rear grip. Once taken care of was a great car. Rotary motors lack torque which was not an issue with such a light car. The smoothness, HP, and willingness to rev made it a good fit for a 7. I really liked the smoothness. Also if you have every rebuilt a rotary you will appreciate how simple a job it is. Negatives were it was thirsty, did not sound quite right, and as stated above the motor is small and dense so placement is more critical. This seems like a really good buy

The Kawasaki license plate is cool. They are supposed to turn them in but you may be able to talk them into sending them along with the car.

Never seen it, don't know it, will pray for who buys it. Looks fun http://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/1401381436.html

Here is a link to a website that lists a lot of cars for sale in Japan. If you can read some Japanese it is helpful but not necessary. http://www.gooworld.jp/php/search/bodytype_search.php Here is one that I found interesting. Look at the car behind the lotus http://www.gooworld.jp/usedcar/spread/goow/14/903009082709030475672.html It is amazing what you can find in little corner shops in Japan.

Hi there, I moved from Tokyo last year after living there for four years. There are a number of different brands of 7s in Japan. One that I ran across often was a copy of an S3 built in Canada and exported to Japan. They were built with Toyota motors. Cannot seem to recall the name right now. Decide on what you want. In Japan the range of setup on the cars is amazing. You will find everything from traditional 950cc motored cars to ones with so many electronic gadgets you can measure the number of g's you are pulling while you adjust your fuel curve. Look for references on the shipper and it will be painless bringing the car over

No longer American made. FN (Fabrique Nationale) and HK make them now. Colt holds the name only. The AK 47 is a good gun and the 74 is even better.

Once again Darwin's theory is supported

Thanks for the link. Though I am left with more questions. 60Kw motor + Battery + controllers = 20kg now that would be amazing. The amount of power that those cables and controllers would have to handle, getting batteries to discharge that fast and not burn up ....

82 hp boost to the car from the stored energy, how?

Thanks for posting this. I signed the letter. I understand the idea behind the basic law. It was written to keep young children safe from lead and one other toxic chemical that I cannot recall. This is a great example of a poorly written law with good intentions being perverted.

I believe that the Bosch units are the same ones that came in Ford Escorts and Fiestas

That may be the best way to show your car, it is more than just four wheels and a seat to move you from place to place!

Here is a video showing a child's motorcycle seat on the same bike I had in Japan. They work very well -
Looks like an impressive system. A number of people I knew and I tried brewing our own Bio D six years ago. It was sort of fun going from a car that stunk people out of the way to one that smelled like french fries. Could have been because we made our own systems and the formulas were not yet stable. We all ran into motor problems. They ranged from fuel pump failures due to lack of lubrication to burned valves and pistons. Later on I found a Redline additive that lubes the fuel pump, and the motor failure were due to formulation. Looking forward to reading your success stories because there are a lot of advantages to home brew. Have a look at your oil the next time it is run only with Bio-D. You will be amazed at how long it stays clear and clean.

Thanks, that is just what I was looking for. Scot

Looking for a comparison between these two engines. Anyone know of a good resource? Thanks Scot

The current owner is Francis Fullam. The car was built by Toby Horrocks. Does anyone know this car?
-
Yea that was what I was thinking. Seems like a good price, wondering though about Vtec Vs Zetec and Honda Vs. Ford and Nitrous. does this person really know what they have? Anyone know this car?

"2.0 liter doc Ford Vetec" . Sorry I have been away from the states for a while. What is a Ford Vetec?
-
That car was from where I just moved from, Shinagawa outside of Tokyo. The voiceover is keeping with the "Busa" rule. He is speaking in pure Se7en which is as English as you can get What he says is that the car and engine is small, the Super 7 has a larger engine, it was designed as a club racer "backyard racer". If you are really interested in knowing what he is saying in detail I can translate if for you. Scot

Some ideas for the name of the news letter: - I am not a number - Adding lightness - Unitarian 7

Not a Se7en owner yet. I plan on buying one soon after I return to the States. I have been mulling over some of the same questions you have for the past 4 years while in Japan. The kind people on this forum have helped me a great deal decide on what I will be purchasing. The cars you listed plus some of the other Se7ens out there all have advantages, it really depends upon what you want the car for. I want a hobby car to spend time with my daughter. It has to have the ability to scare the snot out of me, either with too much motor such as a Woody Birkin or enough frame flex and weak brakes such as a Lotus Seven S2. Personal comments on the cars you listed: 1. DBR motor has the most bragging rights, except for Al’s Orange. 2. 2007 Westfield: Beautiful car and probably the requiring the least amount of tinkering 3. 2004 Birkin: My personal favorite will require sorting which is fun and the builder has a long history with Lotus’ and Se7ens. 4/5 Superformance S1: Everyone I talk with that has owned one loves them. Pictures do not do the fit and finish justice. 6. Stalker: Simple, well engineered and manufactured car. Man are they something on a race track 7. Lotus 7: The most fun of the bunch, limited by how numb your butt gets and about 50 miles.
