  1. Sold the Caterham, she will have a new home in Preoria, IL.
  2. I think you will find those figures were good a year ago, it is running quite a bit less right now, partic if it is a long run, ie 2000 miles plus.
  3. $1000 is nuts,a friend with an Elise removed his due to problems with it. How much can it be to just replace the nose and bonnet with new if needed?
  4. Good Luck with your new car. They are now sold via Aries in the UK : http://www.tin-rat.rapidial.co.uk/Aries/home%20button.htm Here are some other snips for ya : http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/list.asp?s=441 http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C61969 PS, looks like I have my 7 sold today, bit sad really.
  5. I wants em too, I have a sore bum, will pay what you want plus a free years supply of Preperation H from me, email me on davidpbowes@yahoo.com.
  6. Yeah, I hear all of your points, thanks again. Anyway I drove an Elise, this one had performance and handling mods plus nitrous, VERY quick car, and to be honest an absolute bitch to get in and then roll out of with the top in place, lol. I think I am going to have to give this more thought. Even the owner told me that on a Portland to Seattle run he started to hate the car, and he is 29 and fit. I am going to look at the Boxster S and a Honda s2000 too; at this rate I will probably end up with a Rav4.
  7. I thought with a 7 you just drive under the barrier??????
  8. " the minor grinding tween 2nd and 3rd gears may need an oil change" is now missing; I would have thought he would have got the "Pro-Carb-Tune" done at the same time. I think Krobar is a Dipstick Jimmy.
  9. I do love the 7, but it can be hard love.Sadly I have limited funds so I have my old Ford beater and the 7, I just think that if I had something a wee bit more practical (only an Elise could be termed that next to a rollerskate) I would get more use out of it.As I said I have never even been in an Elise but have a friend of a friend letting me drive his Sat morning, so I guess i will see. The earlier multi car road tests posted earlier on this thread coincide with my own thoughts and options too.
  10. Insane ! But the Elise has to be a better day to day car right?
  11. Thanks to all for the input. Here were my thoughts on a 7 v Elise..., I have a really nice 85 Cat 7, love it, but I live on the Oregon coast and I feel like I can only drive so far from home due to being on a elastic band,"and. these ramblings.....>>> 1: zero wet/security protection..(yes, I do have every wet and cold weather option available for this car , so I have the right to stand by that). 2: I smile for the first 15 mins then start to grin and bare it. 3: I have grit in my hair. 4:my ass hurts 5:worry about where I can park it 6:am I really getting this old? 7:"Good evening Officer" 8:not a chick magnet for me (but this may be due to item 6). 9: my ass hurts 10:I am getting rosey cheeks from driving in the cold and I have lost 3 hats in 2 months. Damn I will miss the sound and smell of the old Xflow in the morning, throbs like a Spitire(not the Triumphant one either) So, this is the basic Elise, it has to be more liveable than an 85 7 with bench seats right???
  12. Pros and cons with the Elise?, any problems, likes , dislikes.. etc? Thanks.
  13. I have had my 7 for a while and have had an offer(from some miles away) to trade even out on an 06 Elise(4 k miles and with all options incl traction),I have never driven an Elise and am looking for input from those that have driven both cars. Note: I know these are dif cars and I am not looking to stir the pros and cons of either, I am just at a situation where I might just do it, cuz "a change is as good as a rest". Thanks
  14. Tab, what are your feelings re: reg cat 7 v sv, Regards
  15. Tom, Yup I was right, 2007 in Automoble mag, (good article too) again that was the factrory rep but I am guessing it had to be @ 30 then... the clip and the link to the article... (which is good to read anyway).... http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/convertibles/0603_caterham_csr260/index.html "Caterham builds 500 cars a year, and thirty to fifty make it to the States in left-hand-drive form. Customers can choose from three chassis: the entry-level Series 3 faithfully replicates the dimensions of the Lotus Seven; the SV is 4.3 inches wider and 3.2 inches longer; and the CSR is a beefed-up SV. Each chassis can be customized with a mind-boggling array of options. Further complicating matters, cars are also sold in kit form and as racing models". ps, I had no idea this web site exsisted , (untill after I had bought the car), for some reason this site does does not show up with a typical googley search , untill a friend told me; so maybe there are many more owners out there in the void.
  16. Tom, I heard a few years ago that in a typical year it was 30 to 50 for USA, sounds about right for then, who knows this year.
  17. I think you wil find that the police are normally pretty easy to deal with (in this context at least)my experiences, and a couple of my friends have been that they are mainly concerned with seeing if anything is stolen on the car and doing a pretty rudimentary and basic check of the car being "street legal", partic if you get a cop that likes cars.
  18. Yes, I think it's fishy too,if you look at the first time it was listed and "sold", the buyer said the seller would not show the title and the deal fell thru, with bad feedback posted. I asked the Krobar guy for info and he said I was a "suspicious buyer" and would not talk to me...lol. Yeah if it does not sell keep raising the price?
  19. Email is not the fastest at Dave Bean, I would call them on 209-754-5802 . Dick Brink is another good option. I do not think you should have too much of a problem getting what you need.
  20. DB6

    F 1

So I can find it after a few brews......
  21. Glen, Was it like these? http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/list.asp?s=441 "Locosaki"....lol.
  22. My Dad had one. It was basically a Ford Cortina GT, with upgraded handling, beefier brakes and the Lotus 1558 cc Twin Cam engine.
  23. DB6

    surging brakes

Martin, how do you adjust front to rear bias ?
  24. so, you have to do that every year or just once???
  25. DB6

    F 1

I know this might be a bit off topic, but...my God I love F 1, can the nose of a car get any smaller? (or move any faster) ?
