  1. Corners are too sharp for the Autobahn I think. Tom
  2. Sunday at about 9:30ish. Breakfast in Carefree and then wander around looking for mischief, er I mean adventure. Tom
  3. Kevin, If you don't find a friendly garage, you might think about a small storage locker at U-Haul or similar place. They have great security, usually one power outlet to plug your battery tender into and good lighting. Room enough for a set of tools, fluids, California Duster, and cot and sleeping bag for when the kiddoes get to be too much. You can usually negotiate a better price when you are talking longer term contracts. Tom
  4. Had a great drive! Tom
  5. Speedy recovery, Stewart. Tom
  6. Heading out from Carefree area in the morning. Probably do New River Rd, Crefree Hy, Sun Valley Parkway. Whatever suits our fancy. Tom
  7. Hahaha, aint that the truth!
  8. Damn, another Arizona Seven leaves the state. Is it because we run over our protestors? We can stop that if you don't like it. (swerve....thump thump) Tom
  9. I have pretty much been a conservative ever since I moved out of my parent's place but if he is selected, I will vote for anybody else. I am so embarrased by him and his diatribes. Tom
  10. I don't think that tool is for crank timing. There isn't any crank timing to speak of. You time your cams to the crank AFTER that crank bolt is tightened. If you can immobilize your crank with that tool in the link, you can use a cheater bar to get the required torque on the crank bolt. But when doing this, think of the hands of a clock, with that tool as the hour hand resting on a frame member at about 3 O'Clock and your cheater bar starting at about 12:00. This puts the force towards the anchored tool instead of away from it, trying to lift your engine and stretching your engine mounts. Tom
  11. Well, if your crank pulley has the rubber dampener layer in the middle, anything that you do to hold the outer portion still while you tighten a bolt on the inner portion has a chance of damaging that rubber interface. That linked tool looks like it anchors the center part of the pulley against a frame member or use of a long breaker bar, thereby not torquing that rubber junction. Tom
  12. If the starter is removed, you could fashion a tool that locks into the teeth of the flywheel and bolts to the starter's mounting holes. Tom
  13. Jim, I'm in Cave Creek and looking to put to gether day long rides for Sevens and their cousins.. Can you PM me your email if you'd be interested? Thanks. Tom
  14. Answer to question number one would be a hell yes. #2 Yes but will it pass inspection? #3 Driver will be too busy to watch that many gauges #4 Those are stock S-1 wheels but look like taller tires, so yes. I'd rock that baby all week long and overtime on Sunday Tom
  15. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/asset.php?fid=5759&uid=832&d=1390526891 This was a test. Real pics are on phone. Tom
  16. While not a Caterham, my Superformance S-1 had an intermittent headlight problem that was driving me nuts. They worked, they didn't work, they worked 15 minutes later. Arrrggghhh! Turned out to be the silliest thing. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?9212-Superformance-S-1-Headlight-problem&highlight=Superformance Tom
  17. Can you guys with the heated windshields also see the wires diffracting the sunlight during the day and headlights at night? Tom
  18. Yes, down through Oak Creek Canyon to Sedona. You also have the Lake Mary road which is another beautiful ride. Tom
  19. Retro, Can you email me that list? thomas (at) fiberspec.com Thanks Tom
  20. I hope that wasn't chassi #55. Tom
  21. Speaking of windshields of the S-1...Does evebody else see those little heating wires imbedded in the windshield or is it just me? Tom
  22. Looks good. I hope the rear mounts are flexible because that much tubing is going to expand when hot and will move the muffler back about 1/4". Are you ready for a blat down the switchbacks to Sedona?
  23. If you click the link in DaveD's post above, you can see the album that has pics of his crashed S-1. I think that probably explains it pretty well. DaveD, Did you have a fab shop bend up that shorter roll bar? It looks good. I'd like to do some HPDE days but need something like that for mine. Tom
  24. OMG! I found it! It was a loose 8-way connector behind the glove box, it was only latched completely on one side. I found it with my homemade voltage/continuity tester (Tom Tester) that has a LOUD warbler and flashing red LED whenever it sees 5-30 +DC volts or continuity. Was looking for 12 volts with it at the dimmer relay on the large Red with white strip wire that connect the headlight rocker switch to the dimmer relay. It had power, it didn't have power. Took the glove box out and while doing the standard wiggle test on everything, BINGO! the sounder goes off. There are 3, 8 wire connectors all tied to a bar with a cable tie that goes through the same pocket that the connector's latch is supposed to go through! I don't know if tightening down the cable tie dislodged the clip or what, but the cable tie should not have been attached to the 8-way connector in that fashion. You can even see where the loose connection caused enough heat to discolor the white plastic of the connector housing. Finally. Will take it for a test drive tonight. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
  25. I wonder if a track worthy roll over bar could be adapted on a temporary basis? Maybe bolt onto the existing double hoops? I sure like the looks of the double hoops and my top fits right over them. I don't know if a high bar will fit. Tom
