Take one problem off the table. Don't use a HANS but look for something like the Simpson Hybrid which is intended to work somewhat more independently of the shoulder belts. The standard Caterham harness mounting points are too wide for a HANS anyway and need modification. https://www.simpsonraceproducts.com/simpson-hybrid-head-neck-restraints Mine has attachments to connect to the harness at the buckle. I went for this after my rather large scare 3 weeks back where I nearly rolled my seven and the lap belt attachments would hold you in better in the event of a roll over. After trialing last weekend, I felt much more tied in as I now have 10 points attaching me to to the car (6pt belts, 2 pt arm restrains, 2pt Simpson Hyrbid). You want a 6 point harness. It takes no great imagination to imagine what would happen to your babymakers in an accident when the 5th belt rams them lovingly through the roof of your mouth. My current Caterham 6 pointer (expiring 2021) has the design where they go through metal loops on the lap belt and then to the buckle. This puts the pressure on your inner thighs instead of potentially giving you a scrotal "degloving" (to use the medical terminology). I prefer the Caterham belts - they just fit. However, they are the old FIA designed (buckle on lap belt). The website does not show any harnesses in the new format right now. Maybe a phone call to Demon Tweeks in the UK to find out what others are using in FIA motorsport for Caterhams. We will not be the only ones with this issue and Demon Tweeks sell a lot of belts. I have seen Schroth also used in Caterhams - you need the openwheeler type with short lap and longer shoulder. I think they may be pull up.

Will you be using the 620R on a track day at a track which has noise restrictions? I am thinking possible California track trips... I run the two silencer and rear exit configuration on my UK 420R and it keeps me below 92db which is needed given the tight noise restrictions governing most UK and European tracks. For my CSR here in the US, I run a single silencer and a side exit. Depending on how tested it runs around 98-100db.

Congratulations! A good milestone achievement!
-
Correct. NJMP requires open cars to have 5 or 6 point belts, roll bar and arm restraints. No mention of HANS 4 points not permitted at NJMP
-
Don’t bother ordering from that carbon fiber supplier. They have a reputation of taking money and never supplying.
-
HANS is not mandatory at NJMP. 6 point belts plus arm restraints but no HANS. Matter of time I suspect.
-
Sounds like there is no option but to get 6 pointers with buckle latch on the crotch belt If you want a 5 year FIA life.

I suggest you give a few Caterham dealers a call across the country. They all have different supply order books and what one does not have, another quite likely does. At least one dealer has one of the new retro look Caterham supersports (with clams) on order - no idea if it has been sold or assigned. You are best to call not email - this is old school car selling. -
No point putting any badge on the back of the car - 620Rs are so quick no one will see it.
-
Excellent - comes with 13 inch wheels as standard

Good grief, you have had one of those weeks. I would never question your sanity... ...but I would observe your Microsoft background makes you far more resilient to bang your head against a wall repeatedly while being impervious to pain or the obvious logical need to stop. Back to bolts... I am confused which set of ARP bolts you are planning on using? Old ones from the former engine? New ones already installed and torqued by a vendor? New ARP from SBD. New ARP from ARP or new ARP from Cosworth? At the first, I would never reuse previously torqued bolts - I know you know that but I did get confused easily from your post (more coffee please). The dumb question is - are all these bolts the exact same thing? Same spec/product id? Should be but I learned to never trust these things. Assuming the ARP bolts are new and all the same, then I would go SBD approach. Its application specific for your build. Its more current (that Cosworth guidance is getting ancient). SBD is building these engines today. Plus the ARP spec is generic for a range of builds - not necessarily intended for yours. You could mix and match but why is your a la carte approach a logical one better than one of these experts? I could rationalize a 3 step build in torque to 105ft/lbs. Just my 5 cents

Hi Ross! Hope you are doing well? Its good to see everyone chime in with enthusiasm but you are right, there is no substitute for seeing and trying in person. It does not matter how many of these I have owned, I still find things I want to change from original. The fun in ordering a Caterham is deciding from the incredible array of options to personalize it just for you. There are no identical Caterhams (or any seven for that matter). In an ideal world there would be a nice big dealership close by with a bunch of cars to explore but due to our small market we make up with an enthusiastic owner group pitching in to assist new owners - a good thing to see.

One of the best videos of its type I have seen - excellent find.

I have a CSR/SV and an S3 in a workshop for you to try on back to back. The CSR has the lowered floors so you can see what that does. Location is Millville NJ at NJMP. Its the other side of the DE Memorial Bridge in southern NJ. I am here until Saturday morning but should be back again early Monday morning and into first half of next week. Cheers Mike

2G? Thats the least of its problems. It weighs 1550lbs. It needs power steering. It has problems with its brakes not getting enough heat into them? You dont need brakes in a seven - or shouldnt much need them. And i find it about as attractive as nearly all of the USA7s forum members. It costs $187,000. Might as well buy a Stalker for a fraction of that. More hp. Power steering. Brakes that work. Styling is actually better.

It will come with a 6 speed Sadev as you speculated. Vlad (Vovchandr) has the Quaife box. Good but not as buttery smooth as the Sadev. Getting reverse in the Sadev is not too bad. Make sure you are stopped. Nice clean clutch pedal move. Lift the gear lever locating ring and move into reverse. Most of the time it goes without a graunch. Only thing I hear mixed messages on is need for heel and toe with the sequential on the downshift - no clutch used. You can downshift without the heel and toe but you just have to ensure the downshift happens late in the braking and road speed is down below wheel speed I had a 620R on my Spain and Portugal track holiday a few years back. Also drove one at Hunagaroring. Great fun. Incredibly quick. About 145mph down the straight at Estoril and Portimao when you got the last corner right. Hungaroring was about 148mph - it would have been over 150 with a better driver. You will have no problems driving RHD. I have both an LHD and RHD Caterham and its easy to switch over. Estoril video will show how smooth the change is in a 620R. Not that fast as I am first time out with the 620R.

Hi Cem - welcome to the group! Did you buy the yellow 620R in at TIme Machine Auto? Who is doing the build? Dave LeBrun? Hopefully it has weather gear for all that rainy weather in the PNW! :seeya: Cheers mike

Caterham on Bringatrailer https://bringatrailer.com/listing/zetec-powered-super-seven-5-speed/ Not sure about this car - missing the Caterham VIN and missing the Caterham data plate? Ali skin seems perfect where you would expect them to be so may never have been there or patched? The chassis do not emerge from the factory without some identifying number to trace them. More info needed on this car. Nice video as part of the ad -
