It started by blocking me on the Edge and Firefox browsers but I am now blocked on Safari - irrespective of VPN or not. One way to turn customers away. Clearing cookies makes no difference. I can see there are cars for sale but I cannot click into them without being blocked. Ridiculous.

No mockery here - kudos for the imagination to take on such a worthy challenge! Can I clarify - is it in pieces now or assembled? How long has it been in pieces? If it is assembled and you want to disassemble to bring it into CA then no go. Federal rules are pretty clear on once it is together then it stays together as a car. You may want to bring it in as pieces but you cannot classify it as parts then as it was a car before you disassembled. Of course lots of people do exactly this but you only have to check out what happened to the Nissan Skyline GTR folks to know the consequences. You can still bring the pieces in declared as a car restoration project. God help you with the Customs inspection though - my experience was they are not the brightest - so a lot of hand holding will be needed by your import agent. Now if it were in bits in France then that is another issue. To get it from France to UK you would need to inventory everything down to the individual screw/bolt types. Then expect to pay UK import tax on it plus potentially French taxes of some kind. Brexit has made a mess of it sadly.

Ignore it and carry it in the car? I did this a long time ago Bracket came up from underneath nosecone. Two strips of aluminum with some spacer strips to hold them parallel. Two mounts off the chassis tube, one hole in the underside of the nose cone (can be seen inside grille in second photo) for a third hold point, then the two arms floated upwards around the nose cone (without touching) to which the plate mounted. No visible holes in the nose cone this way.

The simpler variation I did a long time back was take the standard Caterham plexi wind wings and bend them further in boiling water. This has the effect of making them stand out from the car further and shift the buffeting point rearwards past my ear. Not as effective as John's but a lot simpler to do. A variation of that theme done by someone else was to glue a plexi post (with a rubber end cap for the body) onto the Caterham wind wings and push them outwards.

@Kitcat Mike - you and I met George at the USA7s event at NJMP in 2017. I spent a good amount of time chatting with George about this Birkin. Tom Carlin invited him to join us and knew George and his car well. I never associated this car for sale as his. George knew how to maintain the car in good condition and had developed it well. First thing is check your existing harness. If it has no expiry date label then forget about adding the extra crotch strap. The NJMP regs require SFI/FIA labels with expiry and the standard Caterham harnesses do not have those. So you want to order a 5 or 6 pointer harness in advance that you know will comply and fits the Caterham. Sometimes TJ at TK Autosport has them on the shelf but not always so advance planning is needed. Its a pain to change the harness over quickly as a few people will testify. The novice group is a great starting point. They take it easy and add the speed on over the course of the day. Given the level of power and the peakiness of the power delivery in a 620R, your thinking on starting gently is very sensible.

Could be worse, Land Rover Brooklyn (NYC) is now charging $499 per hour for mechanical work on Land Rovers. I'll take Moal anyday. Seriously, this speaks to the shortage of trained mechanics available. The old process of learning your trade at a dealers then moving up to specialty work is broken as dealer mechanics only know how to plug a computer into a car to have it tell the mechanic to replace Part C12 - its an Ikea repair.

Update 7/30/2023 It looks like NJMP has changed the dates to Sunday September 10 and Monday September 11 to avoid the conflict with FuelFest on the Saturday. We have had no official confirmation of this other than via Motorsportreg.com dashboard. We will find out from NJMP what is going on and update you accordingly.
