I could very much do the second series of dates July 23/24. The first set of dates might be a problem as I have a 10am conference speech on the 15th in Calgary. Sadly I no longer have a private jet so would need to slum it on a commercial air service to Portland then drive over. For cars under restoration where you are adding value you do need to disclose that 1) the car is not in your normal garage, 2) it is being worked on to restore and 3) How much you are putting into it for increments. For value increases, I have found Hagerty do require proof in the form of comparables. I did docmentary analysis of the market on two of my cars and shared that with them - they agreed there was good reason to increase value and we agreed on a number. Its a bit of work but I think it is a fair way to approach things.

Hard to say. If its stated value then look at the policy. It usually is depreciated. So if you bought it for $X say 5 years ago then they will depreciate it over say Y years. If it is a regular car then 4-5 years on its usually at 40-50% of original cost. Varies by car make/model. I assume State Farm would use Kelly Blue Book or similar for depreciated values. Now you are not in that data with a Caterham. So comparables may come into play if they decide its close to another make.model (in their minds). Either way, have a claim and you have set yourself up for an extended food fight over the claim value. Sometimes the only way to resolve these disputes is litigation. So thats why you pay more for agreed value - it is insurance to avoid litigation on claim amount after a claim.

What makes Hagerty less coverage than State Farm?

Yes - belts, helmet, and Hans (or similar). Anything with a date label they will look at - so be careful with your arm restraints (I have Simon's red fluffy pair spare if you need them). You are probably safe with your AARP card though. Since it is so many years since you were last bothered to visit us, a Hans or Hybrid is mandatory. Edited to add - DOT tires have a max 5 year life. They check date codes. If you bring slicks then they do not have any date codes....
