Tentative is a winter test session on track in California where we can calibrate the gearbox shifting plus set up the active suspension and traction control. Before that we need to address: Fuel pressure is not stable. As revs increase and the alternator spins up then voltage increases and fuel pressure increases. It should not do that. The fuel pump and ECU should regulate pressure to keep it constant. Clearly thats not working. Need to diagnose the issue. Likely need a proper fuel regulator instead of the Caterham approach. These integration types of tasks to make all the car pieces work together take outsized time spans as you are troubleshooting things. This year saw one wiring pinout error in a plug take months to track down. Currently has the Duratec mystery map on it. Need to change that to the engine dyno map from Loyning Engines. We then take it to a tuning shop to do a proper ECU tune. Still some more electrical integration to do. There are a lot of cosmetic bits and pieces jobs to do - lights, rear lights, dash clean up, seats installed, belts to be bought and installed, build the 13 inch BBS wheels and get tires, etc. I seem to recall a similar effort in a 53yo Lamborghini with deferred maintenance and the middle of a pandemic in 2020 which did not go well in the snow.... Maybe not a good idea.

In all cases it can wait until the morning. None of us are sufficient desperate basket cases where we need to be on this site 24 hours a day. On second thoughts, there are two people that come to mind....

The gaskets stretch after use so they are no longer circular - they go oval. You can try to put it back to circle shape but I find they do not fit well afterwwards. Poor fit could mean leaky fuel, particularly on track. That was the cause for me nearly rolling at 110mph when the gasket failed and leaked fuel all over the outside rear tire which led to poo moment. However, you could feel lucky!

Make sure you change your gasket between the pump and the tank. Either that or make your own seal with blue Hylomar.

There is also an earlier Focus version used as I remember swapping in one in my 2018 420R - just check the product number to confirm. Only thing that did not come with it was the wire float but you just swap that over. Huge saving over the 320GBP that Caterham is charging. Love Rock Auto!

I'm not sure it is just slosh in this instance? While the Cat tank is a long wide thing susceptible to slosh, you can confirm this by just filling the tank and trying it out on track. I think the OP has done this and still gets the symptoms. So not slosh in this case. Exactly what I tried to say and failed earlier - very well said. This would be my preferred set up if I was redesigning the Cat system for production plus adding a return line. Keep in mind, any modification away from stock Caterham fuel system quickly strays into needing to modify ECU map and that gets very expensive in a hurry as you need a password to change it (not readily available). If you want to change the map then the agents for MBE make you buy a new unlocked ECU, new map and then their tuning time. As a result the cheapest and only practical solution is usually to drop in a new pump. Yes but Caterham is not using the pump as Ford designed it to be used which is what MV8 has been saying. You are also doing track work which loads a lot of physical forces on the pump.as it now sits in its very own gasoline wave pool. I'm replacing my similar fuel pump every 5 years on average. Easimap is quite good for diagnostics but its not going to give you a fault code and say replace this. You need to buy the not cheap proprietary cable from SBD Motorsports. Software is free download. Then go out and log a session on track with Easimap running on a laptop. Yes I saw it done last weekend by another USA7s member. Laptop strapped down in passenger seat and recording away while a 420R owner did 25 mins on track. The data quickly gave the pointer to the problem so the owner could work around it to keep him on track (likely failed lambda in this case). So you have two options: 1) Modify things like MV8 is suggesting which takes you down a road of making things better than Caterham designed it but may be more complicated and expensive than you want or are technically proficient in. or 2) Drop in a new fuel pump and see if it fixes the problem. If not then save the extra pump as a spare.
