  7. Finished the car on Thursday evening and we went out for a spin in her on Sunday afternoon around the Hinterland, it was great to be back on the road in Grace. Drove to work this morning and had to put a jersey on . The guys who painter Grace did a great job and also did the underside of the guards with rubberised ute liner to stop stone chips. Some pics of it sitting in my workshop http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Cars/IMG_5664_zps636edcea.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Cars/IMG_5663_zpsf3dbd472.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Cars/IMG_5665_zps3b2c5878.jpg
  8. Hi Jumba I already have all the recovery gear sorted out and a compressor to air up after being off road. The side steps are stock at the moment, I'll be getting some Poision Spyder rock sliders soon though. I will check out the oracle lights though as lights are on the list.
  9. Out with the Jeep boys for the weekend, this was our first time ever 4WD'ing and it was FUN FUN FUN. Plan is now to get Stu the Jeep sorted for a Simpson Desert crossing in 1 years time and also for a bit of off road touring. First recovery http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Jeep%20Adventures/P1050775_zpseb154124.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Jeep%20Adventures/P1050827_zpsef555cd1.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Jeep%20Adventures/P1050902_zpse3b324fd.jpg
  10. Hi guys been a bit busy lately and finally got back to posting on some forums, first off I hope none on here was caught in the terrible twisters in Oklahoma, being through a big natural disaster my heart really goes out to those who have suffered through it. Anyway its gone cold, Brisbane had its coldest May day morning on record at 3deg at the airport in the morning...by 8pm it was 16 though and reached a lovely 22deg for a high. Grace has been of the road the last 6 weeks while i stripped her down for a new paint job (see my build diary) mean while though Stu the Jeep is keeping us very entertained off-road and taking us places we would never get to normally go, its really nice have 2 very different style of cars. Stu the Jeep has had a couple of more upgrades though in the last 2 weeks, we have fitted a TJM 9500lbs winch and a AEV XT 2.5" premium lift with JKS quick disconnects, also a ARB rear diff plate. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Jeep%20Adventures/a7e46c06-f40b-4e39-9841-f3afcc12a25b_zpsba891e8f.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Jeep%20Adventures/P1060231_zps1eb70ba5.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Jeep%20Adventures/P1060225_zps6971a54b.jpg
  11. Lights on, stuck with the old lights as I quite liked them and no need to pay for something I already have. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/bits%20and%20pieces/P1050682_zpse686ce3d.jpg Next thing to do is the S/S guard protectors and then strip it down and take the bits to be painted.
  12. Time for the new guards and nose cone to be put on. Up on stands ready for the guards to come off http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/bits%20and%20pieces/P1050673_zpsf629ca5f.jpg New guard on, was a bit of a mission as the new guards seems narrower across the dia but I managed to pull them out and get them bolted on. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/bits%20and%20pieces/P1050679_zps1f250ad2.jpg Wheels on, new guards have a much better shape to them than the older ones http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/bits%20and%20pieces/P1050681_zps8b04d309.jpg
  13. Hi Pete Sounds like you had a fantastic time, I can tell you ownership only gets better from here on, enjoy .
  14. Duane love the rear bag, where did you get it from. ??
  15. Great photo
  16. Jackal I haven't towed yet with my SWB Jeep but have been told with the addition of a auto trans cooler I will be ok, I plan to tow one of these next year with it. http://blkmav.com/myswag/swan1.jpg Here is a picture of a JKU CRD towing one so you should be OK towing a car trailer. http://i1036.photobucket.com/albums/a448/zerosecta/Setup.jpg
  17. Mondo Google Brisbane, QLD, Australia and then start looking in a 200km circle at the coast line and inland behind Brisbane, lots of beaches with my fav one being a place called Noosa, also 3 islands of the Brisbane coastline, Moreton Island, North Stradbroke Island and further up Fraser Island, all are meccas for 4WD beach driving and camping with Fraser being world renowned for its natural beauty.
  18. Jackal check out the AEV gear it's very nice and week made.
  19. Next up is the Jeep called Stu ( the name came from a mate called Stuart who said I was a wanker because I owned a jeep) , since this was the first car we purchased we kept it pretty stock until now and is the first car I have owned that is built in the USA and is an American icon and I love it, in the last 2 weeks its had some new AEV (American Expedition Vehicles) bull bars fitted front and rear and some Goodyear Wrangler MT/Z Kevlar muddies, plans for this car are to make it capable to do Cape York and the Simpson Desert 4WD tracks in 2 years, next up is a ARV 2.5 lift kit, ARB diff lockers, Warn 12000lb winch, full roof bar set up for touring and some other bits to make it a very capable off road tourer, we are also joining a Jeep Brisbane 4WD club so we can head away on camping runs and learn to 4WD safely. I love this car it really fits in to my ethos of owning cars that are different, I love the fact I can mod it with so much gear and everyone I see is different due to those mods. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Jeep%20Upgrade/IMG_0138_zpsdbb8d5ee.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Jeep%20Upgrade/null_zpsd7afe354.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Jeep%20Upgrade/IMG_0140_zps49dda32e.jpg Between the Lotus and the Jeep most weekends are kept pretty busy and now that the storm season has passed we are really looking forward to getting away in both cars as often as we can.
  20. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Cars/null-20.jpg Sunshine Clubbies cars http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Cars/null-21.jpg Purchased another car due the 6 weeks of rain we had after Christmas, I was driving Grace as my daily driver in the torrential rain but decided it wouldn't be good for her long term to continually be wet for that long. We purchased a 2006 Mazda MPS, with 190kW at 5,500rpm and 380Nm at 3,000rpm this thing is fast and makes my WRX I had in NZ look slow, its a fun car out on the twisty roads and also great for cruising on the Motorways when heading to Noosa of the Byron Bay. There are plenty of mods around for it too but it staying stock as all the mods are being done to the Jeep. 8-) http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Cars/null_zps12d3b611.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Cars/null_zps00a7d451.jpg
  21. Had our first run out with some other Clubmans from the Sunshine Coast, these guys run once a month and we have plans to join them. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Cars/null-24.jpg Real Lotus Seven S2 which is very nice http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Cars/null-22.jpg 3 Wheeler Bec, guy is getting sorted out to produce them, went like a rocket too. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Cars/null-18.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Cars/null-15.jpg
  22. Hi guys a quick update of our adventure in OZ and CARS which we all love. Since it's cooled off a bit now (avg 27 deg in the day) I have been getting out in a Grace a bit more on weekends as time allows, last Sat while Marg was in NZ for the week I went out for a bit of a drive and ended up doing around 450 kms around the back of Brisbane in the hinterland, roads were very much like NZ and so was the scenery, most of what I drove through reminded me very much of the roads. Also just twenty mins from my house, I took a video this time and when I get a chance I will edit it and post it up. Top of Mt Mee 20 mins from my house, overlooking the Glass house mountains. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Cars/P1050531_zpsa9d02402.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Cars/P1050530_zpsc22aeeba.jpg Start of Lake Somerset http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Cars/P1050535_zps5***fee6.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Australia/Cars/P1050537_zpsda757901.jpg
  23. Thanks ordered one.
  24. I didn't have my side deflectors on but the Bimi top did cut down the wind buffeting.
  25. Hi Maurice The changes I want to make are exactly what you have suggested, I intend to leave 2 small pieces of strap with a click in buckle in the boot attached to where the roll bar mounts when I pout the top on these will click into the straps from the roof and I can tension it from there. We must have a coffee with you sometime then. :auto:
