  1. Cheers for all the info guys im going with Gaz adjustable rose jointed shocks for the rear that are 16" long with 175lbs springs, im changing the rear over from the normal Birkin top mount to this idea that a guy in Japan used when he changed his rears on his Birkin but using AVO shocks. These are his pictures not mine but mine outcome will be the same. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/bits%20and%20pieces/p1.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/bits%20and%20pieces/p4.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/bits%20and%20pieces/AVOinside2.jpg Kiwibirkin
  2. HI guys I have have just had another 10 of these grills cut and at a cheaper price of NZ $65 plus postage which works out to be about US $43 plus postage if any ones intrested. You can either PM me pr just post here and ill get back too you. Im also now doing Westfield grills and also full custom grills and have sold a couple in NZ and in Aus ill put up a seperate thread with some pics in. Cheers Kiwibirkin
  3. Cheers guys I had a long chat today with a couple of NZ lotus 7 replica builders Fraser Cars & McGregor Sevens and they recommended 250 fronts & 175 rears as they seemed to have settled on them for genral road use on NZ roads and the odd track day. Kiwibirkin
  4. Cheers Budlite I have now been given some info on what they should be. Now my next Qs is what lbs springs are people using in the rear shocks of their Birkins I have new 250lb springs on the front and I need to match the rears to this. Cheers Kiwibirkin
  5. Nice car i love it as it is.
  6. Hi all I need some info from some one who has built a Birkin and maybe measured there rear shocks before they installed them or are able to measure a set for me prior to there install. I want to replace my rear shocks as I have just replaced my front Spax with some new GAZ adjustable shocks and new 250lb springs and the ride & handling diffrence is amazing. The info I would like if possible is overall length extended, overall length compressed and length with the spring on at the set ride height for a Birkin live axle if possible. This will all need to be measured to underneath the rear plate that the shock pops through at the top of car. Cheers for any help offerd. Kiwibirkin
  7. I can say the same about my Birkin it has oversteer at its limits but has only plowed once when I had the pressures wrong in the front tires it was a easy fix increase the fronts for 16psi to 18psi and it went away.
  8. I have just replaced my front Spax with new Gaz adjustable shocks and 250lb front springs and man what a diffrence they made to the car, it seems the front springs on the orignal spax were too long for the shock and we couldnt even get them to release pressure when the adjustment ring was fully slackend off to the bottom of the shock. So on some advice from the place that fitted them and set them up im running 6 clicks in from full soft out of 30 clicks and 18psi on the new Toyo Tr1's and the car is just so much better over bumps, next up is to replace the rear spax shocks with new GAZ rear adjustable shocks and new springs, can any one tell me what rear lbs springs there running on there rear of their Birkin. Cheers Kiwibirkin
  9. I also prefer the Birkin in fact its started getting more use than the WRX too the point where I have discussed it with my wife about it becoming my daily driver and selling the WRX so I can get her a MX5 or Toyota MR-S.
  10. I just want to say Slomove your car looks great in its new colours I bet your really pleased also you aluminum looks fantastic can you let on how you managed to get it so good. Cheers Kiwibirkin PS : If ever I come state side I would like to hold you to a trip in your car even though I didn't offer up a colour
  11. We had a small winter night blat here in Christchurch NZ 7 Sevens showed up for the run of about 100km road trip. This is a small video my wife took while running through the Lytellton tunnel, speed limit is 50kmh and we were stuck behind a truck but it sounds good as some of us slowed down and dropped to second gear for a squirt on the thr. Video was taken from my Birkin S3 with a NZ made Fraser in the front and locally made Mcgregor Super 7 behind me, the lead car was an original Series 4 car. Kiwibirkin
  12. Just give Andy a go in the Birkin Bruce
  13. Welcome to the forums BCBirk
  14. Its been pretty handy for me being able to get hold of the online manuals showed me how to pull some bits of my car
  15. Jeeez Bruce you aint getting that Birkin back. On another note you own a WRX and a Birkin, funny that so do I :driving:
  16. I just had my Birkin nose cone, cycle fenders and rear fenders painted here in NZ in 2 pac with 2 coats of clear coat Slomove all bits were removed from the car and the cost was NZ $850 including GST (local govt taxes 17.5%) it will be intresting to see what you get priced in the good old US or A Pictures of the car with the new paint job are under the members ride section.
  17. Lovely car and great history too. The only thing I would do to that car is some stone chip guards in mirror finish stainless steel, the rest i would leave as its a classic and full of history.
  18. Keeping the rear end out of line is the most fun you can have in a seven, glad to see you enjoyed your first blat.
  19. Sounds like I shouldnt look
  20. How easy was it to redo your dash, its about the only part on my Birkin I haven't pulled apart yet to have a look at, it seems pretty easy to remove the scuttle only a few bots I think hold it on.
  21. Welcome along 7veloce and congrats on the new seven
  22. Hey Usher welcome to one of the best 7 forums out there, also nice Westfield
  23. I know the later model MX5 engine the NB is a higher torque engine with about 133hp and its a quite easy to get more hp out of with a simple cam upgrade.
  24. I may have the chance to re-power my Birkin S3 with a 1998 1800 Mazda (Miata)MX motor but dont know if its worth doing my Birkin has been powerd by a 1600xflow with weber 40s and a T9 gearbox since its build date in 1997 and the motor is pretty strong and goes ok with about 100 HP, the Mazda MX5 1800 would be with its standard ECU and 5 speed gearbox. I really interested in comments about going from carbs to injection and apart from the MX5 being a more modern motor what would be the pros & cons off this as I have a lot of interest in people wanting my 1600xflow setup for formula ford racing here in NZ as the motors are getting very hard to get now, it would be a straight swap with no cost to me on getting my motor out and replacing with a MX5 motor installed into my Birkin by the the local Seven builders here in Christchruch NZ who use MX5 motors in all the turnkey cars. I know this seems like a silly Qs as the MX5 motor is more modern but there must be some pros & cons. Cheers
  25.
