I had a Belltronics STI radar detector which is about as good as they come along with the Valentine V1 with radar detectors you get what you pay for the cheaper it is the worst the detection is. My STI saved me hundreds of $$$ in fines and paid for it self within the first 6 months, however it also taught me to slow down to the speed limit as I was all ways more weary of my speed with the detector in the car too the point where i didn't need it any more so sold it on, its only now with owning a seven im thinking of getting one again not because I want to speed past the 100kmh speed limit in NZ but I just want to know where the cops are when I have that urge to drag a boy racer at the light

So after a week at the local Seven builders here in Christchurch NZ (McGregor Motosport) Grace was finished, she has had a new back panel in 1.6mm aluminum to help stiffen up the rear end as the birkins are quite lightly fabricated in the rear end, also the orignal panel was had very bad stone damage to it when i purchsed her in January but you couldnt see it from photos, 2 new S/S stone chip guards a new spare wheel holder and nice shiny blue metalic paint job, both the rear panel and the bonnet have been polished too. Here are some pics (Updated with better pictures) http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/BlueBirkin9.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/BlueBirkin5.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/BlueBirkin12.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/BlueBirkin8.jpg Still a few jobs left too do, chrome the roll bar and spare wheel carrier a new S/S heat shield to extend up to the 4 into 1 collector and couple of other bits and shes done ready for spring/summer.

No but she is sure going to look great in blue next week But back on topic.

Sounds like a good idea ill see what i can come up with and how small our laser cutter will cut too without losing detail and the edges being too rough.

I work for a laser-cutting firm and have made some seven grill signs and sold them to quite a few people around the world I had a request from a couple of guys to make full grills for their sevens here in NZ and started playing around with autocad to see what could be done and make one for my Birkin as a first off test one, here is what i have done so far in autocad. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/bits%20and%20pieces/birkingrills.jpg And heres the one I cut in my grill before painting and heading off to another Birkin owner. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/bits%20and%20pieces/7grilleclose.jpg Now I could do any 7 grill, any size and any designm would there be any intrest for these if there is I would be willing to look at what people wanted and work out a price for them. Cheers Kiwibirkin

Well the last bits that I want done to Grace are now being completed at McGregor Motosports the back panel has been pulled off and scrapped as it was in pretty bad shape when I purchased the car, lots of dents and stone damage and other damage that really stood out, the guards are all off plus the nosecone and they have been sent to the painters to be resprayed from black to a ford metalic blue, Grace looked great in black & aluminum but it was such a had colour to keep clean and polish and with it needing a repaint due to stone damage and the old red paint job showing through in parts it was decided that it was time to change colour. Im keeping the bare aluminum on the car as it has grown on me and ill just live with polishing it. These 2 jobs complete my main list of things to do on the car im looking forward to getting it back together and seeing the new paint job now. Hey Rich there would be no change in price from the US $$ price & postage which was US $10 so were talking about £45 inc postage from New Zealand The overall height would be 150mm and the width was brought down to size in proportion to height, I wont be putting any through the laser cutter this week but possible will next week, I have 2 left too sell from the last batch but next week im cutting some full caterham style grills for a local seven builder with his own logo and can run it in with them.

Id love 185hp in Grace
-
Ok ill get back too you after the weekend on a price + shipping to the UK Cheers Kiwibirkin
-
West7se I could shrink and resize my Autocad file down to suit and see what price a one off would cost, just tell me the maximum height you could get away with as the width would need to be moved to make it look right. and ill get back to you. The 7 is 135mm overall height.

I have Rich I have all the build manuals for the Birkin but I still wasnt sure if the guard/fender was removed with that inside panel in place, I have now been told it is and on Monday im about to find out as my car is going in to have a new back aluminum panel put on.
-
Well Mondo has recived his and seems pretty pleased with it going by his email, I now have 2 left of these if anyone else would like one. Postage was US $10 by airmail and arrived within a week to his address in CA. Cheers Kiwibirkin

I enjoyed watching them thanks West7se and passed then on to a guy at my NZ lotus 7 forums (http://www.lotus7.co.nz) who was having trouble with building a lotus replica he had purchased in bits, he didnt know what assembly order to build in that show helped him out alot.

Yep the rear fenders/ wings, guards its a Kiwi thing

One of my winter projects for my Birkin is to have a new alloy panel made for the rear and then get a new coat of paint while the rear guards are off are off. Has anyone here removed there Birkin rear guards ?? the reason im asking is do you have to remove the inside drivers & passangers black trim that sits just inside the car by the seat, if so how easy is it too remove. Cheers Kiwibirkin

How do you pay to become a member I dont think I have seen any info on what you need to do.
-
I now have only 5 left of these as they are for sale else where.

Great looking car. To get aluminum up to a nice finish, use 1200 wet and dry and kerosean (deisel) and then clean with water, move up to 2000 wet and dry and repeat again and clean with water, then any decent aluminum polish like Mothers will bring it up to a nice finish, if you go as far as 4000 wet and dry it should come out like a mirror with plenty of elbo grease.

I sent a email back in inches didnt see this.
