Just received another container of Birkins and spare parts, these are the "classic" narrow body cars. Four of them are still available and we also have some of the Extra Space wide body cars. Tom BIRKIN DIRECT-USA

I have a container of the latest narrow body Birkins due to arrive in a month and would like to sell this car. I will be using one or the new cars as a demonstrator. This car now has about 1100 miles and has been trouble free. I will consider offers in the range of $41,000. Replacement cost would be in the mid $50's. Thanks, Tom Birkin Direct-USA http://www.birkindirect-usa.com 970-376-5188

Here are the heights of the cam cover at different locations. LOW PROFILE STOCK At timing chain 2.625” 2.875” At intake cam 2.25” 2.25” At exhaust cam 2.25” 2.875” At breather 2.5” 3” At oil fill cam 2.375” 3.75” Yes that is correct 1 3/8” lower at the oil fill cap, which is the highest point on the stock cover. Highest point to highest point 1 ¼” lower, this more than compensates for the added height of the 2.3 liter verses the 2.0 liter. I should have the non-branded covers on Friday and will post some side by side pictures. Tom

Hi to all I plan to make it again this year and working on getting a couple of other 7's also. Thanks for all the work in putting the event together. Tom

I will post some more pictures from on the track when I receive them. The high banks are a real kick, a bit spooky the first time but after that just flat out. On the infield part you can just chew up all of the high HP Corvettes and Mustangs. Tom

This past weekend there were 3 Birkins at Daytona for a NASA weekend. Here is a picture of the garage early morning of the 3 cars, the third is in the background with a cover on it. I used Harry's Lap timer and had a best lap of 2:23.28 average speed 96.3 mph in the silver XS (wide body) street car running street tires. It was a great time and a 4500 mile round trip from Colorado. Tom

Birkin XS - side by side comparison to a Caterham CSR
Tbox56 replied to Croc's topic in General Sevens Discussion
It was very interesting doing the side by side comparison of the 2 cars. I remember how impressed I was with Mikes CSR when he was in Colorado doing a shakedown prior to delivery, thinking wow that is the ultimate 7. It is quite nice to hear Mikes comments. I will just follow up on a couple of items. The 2.0 liter in the Birkin has a Raceline wet sump which by the way I never saw loose oil pressure even in the punch bowl. In the past I have seen slight blips in pressure with these. We also offer an install kit for the 2.3 liter Duratec without lowering the engine. The XS weight is 1285 with the windscreen, spare tire carrier (no wheel or tire), no driver, no fuel but all other fluids. This is only a 35 pound increase over the std S3. Yes the uprights offer 2 ride heights, the std height and 30mm lower. The core upright is the same at all 4 corners of the car. The steering arms and some of the ball joint attachment points bolt on to the core upright. The wheel bearing is off center up and down this allows the upright to be flipped over and achieve the lowered ride height. However there is no practical way to drive on the street with the lower setup, it would be for track only. I will post some pictures in a followup post. Tom -
Hi to all the fine folks I met on my adventure to NJMP. I have made it safely back to Colorado. The event was just outstanding and I will definitely attend again in the future. I will followup with some more information on questions in Croc's thread on the comparison of our two cars after some rest. Thanks again, Tom

I was at High Plains Raceway (east of Denver) Sunday for the first track day in the new Birkin XS (wide body) model and it performed flawlessly. To date I had only put 400 street miles on the car. I started out somewhat slowly and just kept pushing the car harder and harder. By the end of the day I had beaten my personal best in an IRS standard body car. I was running street tires on the XS and my best time in the standard body car was on slicks! I think John hit a home run with this one. Less than 1 week to NJMP, leaving Wednesday morning. Tom

Thanks guys. Just a week and a half away. Tom

Does anyone have an extra set of arm restraints? I ordered some that were to be delivered on 6/24 now they are not to ship until 7/1. I will be on the road by then. Thanks, Tom

I am bringing this car http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?10478-New-Birkin-XS along, I have put about 300 miles on it so far. I will be doing a track day at High Plains east of Denver the Sunday before and then heading to NJMP on Wednesday. Tom

Just signed up, looking forward to meeting all of you. See you in just short of 3 weeks. A 29 hour drive to get there. Tom

I have the red car listed here http://birkindirect-usa.com/pre-owned/ available, I will take less than what is listed as I have put about 1500 miles on it. The car is currently registered in Colorado. PM me with any questions. Tom

Hi Tom, The chin spoilers on the red and the yellow cars shown in one of the earlier post are items I had made, I still have some. If you are interested send me a PM or give me a call. Tom 970-376-5188

Here are some more pictures from various angles and some details. For those of you in Colorado I have signed up for a track day at High Plains on June 28th. Tom

Some more information. I have corner balanced the car and have the following weights. Empty weight 1285 lbs Rear weight empty 49.73% Rear weight w/150 lb driver (my son, boy to be 26 years old again) 53.12% Less of a weight penalty than I expected, and this car has the R180 rear differential verses the R160 about a 10 lb penalty just in the diff. First driving impression, drives much like the older standard body cars with quicker turn in. Steering wheel 1.75 turns lock to lock verses 2.75 lock to lock on the older standard body. This is just a couple of laps around the industrial area where the warehouse is located. I am planning to attend a track day at High Plains in June, will learn more there. Tom

Thanks for all of the questions and comments. I will post some more pictures soon, here are answers to the questions asked. The red car has a smaller headlight which is an option on both cars. The radiators and fuel tanks are the same on both cars. There will likely be options for larger of both in the future. The overall size of the car is 4" wider and 3" longer. All of this extra space is in the cockpit. The seats and pedal box are wider. The distance from the rear bulkhead to the dash is 4" longer. At 5' 10" I have the seat full forward. The engine options are still the 4 cylinder Ford. I have not yet corner balanced the car but will post the results. Tom

Here are a couple pictures of a newly finished XS (extra space) Birkin compared to the standard Birkin. The new XS is probably 90% new and re-engineered/ improved parts. Will post driving impressions after I get some miles behind the wheel. We have SX cars in stock and ready to ship. Tom

Yes this car has been sold. I don't have any in need of work cars at this time other that a complete build. Tom

The first container of 6 new SS3XS (wide body) Birkins loaded and on its way to the US. The container should hit the US port the end of August.
