  2. Just saw this on the Top Gear site. They have created a replica of the Nissan Deltawing from a Westfield and are taking it to display at Arnage this weekend. Looks to be a pretty trick bit of kit. It certainly looks the part, but a discerning eye will see the Seven in front of the cockpit. Hopefully after Le Mans, they'll give the Stig a chance to run it on their track. http://www.topgear.com/uk/photos/top-gear-nissan-deltawing-finished-2012-06-14?imageNo=0
  3. Did you check for the Arch Motors stamp on the frame? It will be on the top piece of the left hand footwell near the bracket for the clutch and brake pedals. Every frame is stamped by Arch with "AM ## ##"; the first numbers are the year produced (68, 69, or 70 for a genuine Lotus), and the second is the sequence number (where it is in that years production.) This page has some links that might help with identification and inspection. http://7faq.com/owbase/ow.asp
  4. Nice looking car for a great price, for sure. Not a 72, 73 - those were the last S4's. Not even a 75 or 76, but it is a 1970s vintage chassis. It would take some research with yearly production numbers and where this CS3-4108(?) is in line to pin it down. Or just the Arch number on the pedal brace. The early builder's plates were "Seven Cars", not "Caterham". The dash layout looks later than mine -1975 manufacture. Even if the engine did come with the car - builder's plate doesn't suggest this, the tall block Twinks were later in the production run of Twin-Cam engined cars. Whatever the heritage, this car is gonna make someone real happy for the price.
  5. Jay Leno rolling through around the 1:00 mark.
  6. Ayrton Senna de Silva would have been 52 today. I came across this article last night. I thought it was powerful and speaks highly of the Champion's character - worth the read. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/manish-pandey/ayrton-senna_b_909096.html
  7. Great news, and glad to hear it! Nothing like a healthy dose of Vitamin 7 to perk up a January day!
  8. I have a Montego Blue '96. Drivetrain is stock, with Flyin' Miata stage 2 suspension kit. Skip arranged the purchase for me last spring, and I absolutely love this car. There is a turbo kit somewhere in the future, but there are other more important things first - roll bar, replace the "cute" airhorn with something scary and attention getting.
  9. I'd say the odds are even that I'll be there with the old Twin-Cam. After all, it is free parking at the center of the event!
  10. Keep the posts coming Randall, it's helping me to keep the mundane real world I had to return to in denial. Glad to hear that it was just the wiring in your car (imagine that - dodgy wiring in a Seven! Even one with no trace of Lucas). Wish I was still along. My best to the group. I'll get some pictures sorted and posted in the other thread in the next couple of days. Cheers!
  11. BSimon and I have made it home to Colorado. Was a hot, hot drive across Wyoming today. He did try to tell me that he had the windows down and the heater on in his Tahoe, but the puddle from the frozen air conditioning condenser betrayed his story at the rest area north of Wheatland . . . Have fun out there on the rest of the tour! Wish I were still along . . .
  12. Wrapping up the last night at the hotel in Custer. The old Twin-Cam is ready for the road home to Colorado tomorrow. What a spectacular week this has been! The drives have been only a part of the fun - the comaradarie with new friends has really made this a week to remember! Many thanks to Slomove for organizing the tour, and rzempel & Z3Stalker for daily posts and pics. It's been fantastic to meet and spend so many wonderful miles and smiles with everyone. Cheers! Derek
  13. Glad to hear you made it safely. Did you have pie for dinner? Or perhaps a Turtle Puff? (Incriminating photo to follow . . . ?)
  14. My sister ate dinner there last Thursday night. She said it was good, but pricey.
