http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/854963654_hettel.jpg Parking Brake Combination Lock handle by Hettel is a great anti - theft device! These were available at the ToTD event as prizes and for sale. Being a gadget freak I just had to have one! Included in the kit: Black Handbrake Grip with built-in three numbered wheel combination, rubber insert for better fit, wrench for the shear screw/bolt, 2 small plates with three numbers, instructions and warrantee card which has a measuring card. Description: This is a larger replacement grip for your handbrake. It measures approximately 4" long. I can get my longest finger 3/4 way around it .. whereas I can get my two longest fingers around my existing handbrake grip. It feels like leather. There are two white dots above and below the numbered wheels. There is a small toggle switch (which is called the safety switch in the instructions) on the driver's side. When that switch is up, the 3 numbered wheels can be turned to line up the combination at the dots. (Note: the combination is preset and cannot be changed.) There is a screw bolt on the side. The instructions say to tighten it to the point when it shears off. Use the wrench to help shear it. Once installed the grip is permanently set. (Warrantee is for one year .. and you are instructed to send it back??) This is great for round handbrakes ... but may not work as well with flat or square handbrake levers. You must remove the existing rubber cover off of your handbrake. If your existing grip is longer than the new one you can measure to cut away only the necessary length of grip. The instructions say to try out the round rubber insert or the optional insert for the best fit. I don't know what the optional insert is as it was missing from my kit. There are two small concerns when using this grip: The combination is obvious to anyone driving or riding in your car. And it could be seen by someone with super - human vision in a truck beside you at a stop light. Also for those who wish to replace the leather cover over the lever mechanism, the neck hole will probably be too small. So if your leather cover is worn, replace it before installing this new grip. This should last the lifetime of your car. Rob

We had a good laugh about it ..  and he gave it back to me .. It is a miscut by Martin Townsend (UK) with his laser .. so it doesn't fit any of our cars. I may cut out the Seven and put it on my spare tire. Rob Mitchell

USA7s.com event at the Tail of the Dragon ...
solder_guy posted a topic in General Sevens Discussion
USA7s.com event at the Tail of the Dragon was a big success. Al and Mazda and others should be complemented on their efforts to pull off a professionally run event. Although I showed up a day late .. I could see that many friendships had been forged through the common experience of life with a LSIS. Everybody is enthusiastic about their cars! And that passion led to a thorough enjoyment experienced by all. Everyone was wowed by the group photo shots of 50 LSIS cars! Amazing to me were the two Lotus Sevens S1s in front. All the extra details were professional: Event Program, stickers, gifts, notebooks, pencils, even the database forms and feedback forms were top notch! And the raffle of the miniture Caterum model raised $835 for a local charity which is their local EMS. The event is summarized by all participants giving Al and the other organizers a standing ovation to express their appreciation after dinner Saturday night. Here Here! :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: I wish to thank Al, Mazda and others for a great experience of sharing the LSIS passion. Rob -
My Biggest Laugh at the ToTD was walking up to a few participants (one of whom was Mazda) with my spare 7 nose cone grill in my hand .. I said, "Excuse me, I found this on the side of the road a few miles back .. and I figure it must belong to someone here at this event." Mazda's response, "That's my grill! It must have fallen off somehow!" So with my grill in his hands he begins to walk to find his car and figure how a significant part of his car had fallen out of his nose cone! At that point I revealed my identity and told him that I was pulling his leg. Rob Mitchell

Well the weather was a minor problem at the ToTD. There were scattered thunderstorms on Saturday about early afternoon .. and many drivers and riders came back to Tapoko Lodge drenched and damp. All money and cards that were shared was wet .. After that the weather was clearing .. Rob

Where do you keep your registration papers?
solder_guy replied to solder_guy's topic in General Sevens Discussion
My final solution: I have a small zippered pouch with a loop in which I am keeping two sets of keys to the car, registration and insurance cards, ear plugs, etc. So all this is removed from the car when I leave it. Rob -

Got new VIN plate (17 characters) made this past Monday. Called State Farm and told them that the VIN was wrong and to update it. Got the special form (Georgia form T-22B) by which an officer must certify inspection of the VIN and got that done this morning. Then I asked my wife to go to the DMV with me .. and we submitted the Bill of Sale (with new VIN), the T-22B, and request for special vanity plate .. and walked out with a temporary cardboard permit which is good for 90 days until the special plate arrives which will be ... TOPGEAR. I'm legal. (My first two choices were taken: SE7EN and SEVEN.) Rob
