solder_guy replied to solder_guy's topic in Member Rides
Updated Saturday 4/11/09: These are the projects that I plan to do with my Rotus: DONE: 1. Amber torpedo LED lights on the front fenders with custom daytime running light circuit (Feb 09). 2. Muth motorcycle side mirrors with red directional LED chevrons and forward facing yellow LED markers. Here's more info: forward yellow LEDs. RH mirror was purchased for $25 off ebay. The other LH mirror was bought off an internet ad. Installed by Dennis Hedges. 2a. The red directional chevron and yellow LEDs light when the brakes are applied via the Muth Multifunction Module. (Done) 2b. Quick flash when backing up via the Muth Multifunction Module (Done) 2c. Tick flash to simulate alarm mode when left unattended via the Muth Multifunction Module .. or just cruising down the road (Watch out for me!). (Done) 2d. The "third door" chevron strobe function of the Muth MultiFunction Module activates when the horn is sounded. (Done) 2e. I purchased the Muth MultiFunction Module which integrates all of the above functions. This circuit retails for $119. I got it for $1 plus shipping on eBay! March 15, 06. What a deal! 3. New pics of my car and dash: The 7 grill was under the Christmas tree '06 .. now installed! http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/20070404_035934_rotus7.jpg Grant Steering Wheel Security System in place ... The wire hanging down is the horn pin wire now connected to the horn relay to activate the horn!: http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/20070404_040152_dash.jpg Here's pics of my Rotus 7 as delivered to me in October '06. Note the signal mirrors: They are made by Muth which make most of the mirrors with the red chevron signals. The mirrors are now wired up via the multifunction module and work as brake lights as well as flash for various conditions: horn, security tic, reverse. As you can see it's a beater car. Still to be painted this fall. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/20061221_150652_Seven1.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/20061221_150706_seven2.jpg And from a 1984 magazine ... So, tell us a little about yourselves

Welcome rv-4mike! Most people go with >Hagerty Insurance. Al and Mazda: Should this thread be sticky? Can this be done? Rob Mitchell solder_guy2006-12-21 15:03:24 -
Good idea .. because the General section is getting cluttered with other stuff. It is gettig a bit difficult to find a pic of a specific car. Rob M.

Under the Christmas tree there's a new stainless, laser cut grill wrapped with my name on it. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif Rob Mitchell

I have had so little time to work on the car lately due to my work schedule. I've been servicing the left rear light assembly recently. One brake bulb was out. I had to jack up the car with a scissors jack due to the low clearance and remove the wheel to access the light assembly. I then wired in the new 3rd LED strip on the roll bar. In the process of doing this, the 1" thick wooden block spacer broke in two. So I used some wood glue to get it back together. It's still jacked up so that I can get some LED 1157 and 1156 bulbs. I want to get this done right once so that I don't have to do this just to replace a bulb again. I've used bulb grease on every electrical connection thus far. Bought a replacement 4 cyl VDO tach off ebay. Now installed and working. Got the VDO clock looking good in working order (Thanks to Mazda for his old clock for parts.) I've been trying to id the wiring harness that Dennis Hedges installed. Why does the instrument dimmer knob only dim one VDO gauge?? Some wiring is new and some is original. I checked the functions of all the fuses. Five ID, two still unknown, and one fuse slot is unused. For some unknown reason the wiper motor failed. So I worked with it for a little while and it started working again. (Mazda: remember that I asked you to ID the round and rectangle thing mounted in front of the passenger seat.) It is a Lucas ws wiper motor. But I recently got an engraved VIN plate from a friend. Epoxied and Riveted in place. So now I am FINALLY ready to get inspected, tagged and insured. Rob Mitchell

Nice. Very '80s sound. The video must have been filmed during the annual meeting of the >Six Of One Prisoner Fan Club which gathers at >Portmeirion resort every year. They always reinact the human chess game. Rover gives me the willies! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/eek6.gif Rob Mitchell solder_guy2006-12-06 08:15:01

Low profile 28 LED stip is mounted on the roll bar as a CHMSL third brake light. Looks great. Pic to follow. Fooled around with the dual carbs again .. no progress .. still wants to die at low idle. Rob Mitchell

Seven Grill, Seven Heat Shield and other custom parts
solder_guy replied to solder_guy's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Q: Do you plan to buy a heat shield for the other side? Q: How hard was it to slide the shield over your existing exhaust system into place? Q: How did you bolt it to your car? Rob Mitchell solder_guy2006-12-02 23:11:01 -
You have to wonder if there were any fist-fights after that race. Rob M.
