  1. Nooooooo, I did that on a 350 mile trip up to Infineon a few years ago (with a silver tarp if that makes a difference). I thought I had bunjeed it down well but when I arrived the wind motion of the tarp had polished a pretty leopard pattern into the bare aluminum. That was removed with a few hours worth of elbow grease but I don't know what it might do to paint. It actually took off the chrome on some spots of the headlight pods. Anyway, be careful.... Gert
  2. Wow, this little motel in Durango even has Internet, if a little slow..... Mazda, this should not be black and white. I got color when I did a test drive. Hope you can figure this out for the weekend. Tomorrow I will be really in the middle of nowhere and can not reply. I did leave a polarization filter in but that should rather improve the color. Gert
  3. Odyssey PC625 (PWC format) is a quite a bit cheaper for some reasons than the other models. Although the cranking amps are lower than PC680 I believe the actual AmpHour capacity is even higher. Mine has been in the car for 5 years, no trickle charger needed. Starts up after a few months of storage no prob.
  4. Being the humble person that I am I opted for "SLOMOVE". I know that there are many much more talented track drivers than me (and many slower ones, too who believe they are fast) Unfortunately I found the license plate did not give me any credit with the California Highway Patrol :cuss:  Gert
  5. I have a brand new bullet camera kit for sale: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/237472927_gal520kitnew.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1202818306_8foot.jpg (with 3.6 and 6 mm lenses plus remote for digital zoom and pan) It is one of the new 520 line resolution low-light cameras with Sony Super HAD chip and I had bought it because I thought the resolution would be better than that of my 3 year old camera from rfconcepts.com. However, while the image quality is good it is not better than the old one. Therefore I am selling. I paid total $ 180 from www.qvcvideo.com and would be willing to sell for $140. Please send Private Message. Gert Edited to say: like most bullet camera microphones this one is complete trash in the Seven. It can not handle the high noise level.
  6. What???? Are you guys nuts? You live only once.....
  7. Quote: God But Bike Engines Rule!...Or What? I though they ARE bike engines. Well, I mean they WERE bike engines......
  8. Good idea....can you move this event a little more west? Maybe 2500 miles? Got some pretty nice and abandoned mountain roads here: something like this? Gert
  9. I heard the Westfield Boardroom was down
  10. Not sure what A) is about but why not if it helps and the Sevens community stays together. I am skeptical about B)...do we know if the mother ship would even appreciate a US dinghy? And, while they tolerate non-Caterham paying members to a degree they usually don't even allow them to participate in club activities. At the end, we would anyway need some US based area organizers and where would then be the difference? So, I don't have a silver bullet but honestly I am O.K. to leave it on the current low-key level of activities, i.e. providing a communication forum for all interested folks and helping organize occasional activities like tours, racing etc. We are anyway too far spread out for a normal club life with regular meets etc. Gert
  11. Let's see.... - got the Zetec ported and cams upgraded to stage 2, cam cover polished - Jenvey EFI - Emerald ECU - Innovate wideband Lambda and data logger permanent install - semi close T9 - Quaiffe LSD - Laminova Oil cooler/heat exchanger w/ remote oil filter - Truck size compressor horns - In-Dash gage-style radar detector - Header glass/aluminum wrap - Several exhaust systems, lately with RACECO can - Protech adjustable alloy shocks - Stiffer springs (325# front, 175# rear) - Replace rubber suspension bushings with rod ends (spherical joints) - completely re-wired from scratch - new black brushed anodized ali dash with new layout - remote battery cutoff switch/solenoid - Cobra Roadster7 seats - 7-point harnesses - tall roll bar with added diagonal and head pad, chrome plated - lowered floor on driver side - Fuel safe cell with flush "aircraft style" filler cap - license plate frame with integrated non-protruding LED lighting - High intensity top center LED brake light - "tripod" mounted bullet mirrors - Roll-up bikini top - aluminum folding boot lid - oil catch plumbing and aluminum coolant overflow bottle - small Geo alternator with adjustable tension mounting bracket - driver footwell venting system with shark gill inlet - luggage carrier for touring - removed heater and fan I guess that is about it (I stopped adding up all the invoices long time ago)....right now I am working on a robotic bullet cam mount for PNW 2007. That can be turned forward/left/rear with a dash dial and turns automatically rearward when camcorder is off (to avoid the bugs). Other projects in the pipeline are new headlights and a quick-change windshield for easier swap with aeroscreen when track driving. Maybe I will get around to stopping the crank oil leak sometimes..... Gert
  12. You can upload pictures within the post...... Looks like an excellent deal to me It cost me MUCH more to get to that spec. Darn it, I have one already
  13. What does that do to the aluminum of the airframe?
  14. I have a TRV17 that is maybe 5 or 6 years old. It is a nice camcorder with very good image quality and reasonably compact but I don't think it is on the market anymore. You can find it on eBay, though (e.g. #290129871977). Gert
  15. Just pulling your leg....
  16. That does not sound good.....:nonod:
  17. John, you should try to get a camcorder with a LANC remote input. The ZR45 specs don't mention this. That way you can turn the camera (which will be most likely in the boot) on and off as well as start/stop recording while driving. If you have to stop and get out of the car to do that every time you will miss the best pieces of the trip or run out of tape or battery. I stuck the (quarter-size) remote on the tranny tunnel and it has LEDs to show if it is on or off or recording. AFAIK you need a SONY or selected CANON camcorder for this input. Gert
  18. Oh dear.....here I ask people to reply by private message and then I never check my inbox to see who wrote back. Sorry about that!! But, normally I get a pop-up window when a message arrives and that did not happen here. Mazda??? Anyway, I have messages from 1. JonW 6/3 6:53pm 2. Solder_Guy 6/3 7:31pm 3. DIYMAN25 6/9 About the length: The fronts are 315mm extended (c/c bolt loops) and the rears 440mm (center bolt loop to the top of the stem rubber bushing). See below. Please reply in another message if you are still interested and I promise to check. Having replied first. JonW would have priority. Gert http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/199357003_IMG_3457.JPG
  19. Interesting info here. If the Duratec fits the small Arch frame why should it not fit the fat one?
  20. Admittedly without knowing much about the ins and outs of brake design....I can not see how such minimal constant pressure would help. There should not be anything forcing the pads back from the disks other than the residual wobble and roughness of the disk itself. The constant pressure surely can not overcome this and if it would the pads would be rubbing all the time. I also can not believe that a theoretical aerodynamic effect (like for the flying hard drive heads) can do anything to such heavy friction mechanical parts. Anyway....I never felt the need to improve my brakes once they are bled properly. They bite right away. By far the biggest slack in the system is probably my reaction time until I actually hit the brake with my foot Gert
  21. Quite impressive...almost looks like the Jay Leno roadster with the tank engine. I think this would make for a decent Sevens engine, too....IIRC a 5 or 6 liter Mercedes lump with quad turbo. Said to do some 1400+ bhp but when I saw it at a show it was obvious this was never run. Pretty bling, though and easier to fit in a Seven http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/298168137_120_2095 Large e-mail view.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/482581970_120_2097 Large e-mail view.jpg
  22. *Blush* I have been accused of overpolishing and some people wondered when I would install that big screen TV and a microwave oven. So, nice to get a compliment sometimes But the car is admittedly a little lardy at 1300 pounds and not a purebred racer.
  23. If you go there make sure to pre-order. They are made to order and the lead time used to be 4-5 weeks Gert
  24. Steve, this used to be a Magnaflow stainless bullet muffler (about 3.5 or 4" diameter) that I welded onto the existing header. Also welded that mitered exit elbow and the tip from the auto store with a built in mini-muffler. I had this for some 3 years, looked very nice, if a little loud and heavy but inexpensive. At the end the packing was blown out and the whole thing became really loud. As you can not repack the Magnaflow cans I trashed the whole thing and I am running now a RACECO titanium muffler with a regular tip. Quite expensive (especially with shipping from the UK) and with 6" diameter large but reasonably quiet, good sound, light and repackable. Gert
