This is not politically correct, but I'm for putting the money into American schools and building development centers where there is currently economic devastation and exploring inner space through meditation.

Getting scary. What about income producing real estate?

Since we are talking about motors, outside of the many possibilities, which might include rotaries, LS1s, the Miata or S2000 engines, and if we just stick with the Ford varieties that are available or have parts available in the US, what would be the affordable motor of choice in terms of power, weight, cost, and durability?

I picked up on this little deal for 39.99. Uses Grant 5 hole setup. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230653555107&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT Would like to stick a Lotus emblem on the horn.

Below are notes from the seller, Bill Mitchell, at Bill Mitchell Classics in answer to my questions. No affiliation. I am just sharing this info so interested parties might know more about this lisiting. I can't afford to have two 7's right now, but this might be a fun and relatively sturdy car with Toyota and Mazda parts. The headers and exhaust on the 7 produce a pleasing note and are not unpleasantly loud. The seats are not adjustable, the pedals are adjustable with some mechanical know-how. No one who has driven the car has complained about the seating position. I'm 5'8" and 220 pounds and have no real problems, but I do take off my cell phone and wallet before I take off. I've had guys over 6 feet tall drive it with no complaints. The car has disc brakes on all four wheels. It has a limited slip differential. The motor is a 3TC single cam from a 1982 Toyota Corolla which had approximately 54,000 miles on it when installed. The odometer now reads 55,521. My mechanic has been through the engine and says it looks fine. A new clutch was replaced about 200 miles ago. The odometer and speedo appear accurate. The car has an aluminum fuel cell with an accurate fuel gage. The RX-7 suspension is mostly in the rear and comes from a 1985 first generation. The front suspension is mostly Mazda Miata including spindles, hubs and brakes. The transmission is stock Corolla and works great in all gears. The car has not been dyno'd. If you would like you can give my mechanic Ray a call to get more detailed information. His number is 334-324-2157. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

With the Boxster, you can check the oil, add windshield washer fluid, change the serpentine belt, take off a wheel and change the plugs and otherwise, you have to drop the engine. That's scary if you have a budget.

Been studying Boxsters for months and finally drove a 2005 Boxster S today. Verdicts: 1. Steering (new for 05) incredible. 2. Overall balance of car: the best 3. Look and feel of the full leather: fab 4. Feeling of car: Almost as boring as a Honda SI but heavier feeling. 5. Acceleration: Doesn't touch my 2001 M3 Final Verdict; I love my 7.

Rotary Shack makes a muffler with stainless steel internal baffles that don't melt under the intense heat like fiberglass does on rotaries, but it weighs 50 pounds and costs $250.00.

I am running a magnaflow.

My 13B Mazda rotary engined car is just too darn loud. I hear that the rotaries run very hot and burn up conventional mufflers. Anyone with knowledge of muffler systems for rotaries?

Not to hijack this thread, but I am also interested in the Cayman's sister, the Boxster S. Getting ready to test drive one.

Getting in touch with my feminine side
Ruadhd2 replied to Mondo's topic in General Sevens Discussion
The longest I have ever kept a sports car was 2.5 years with a 1996 Miata in beautiful Montego Blue. Nothing went wrong, not even a light bulb. It sort of becomes like a glove or sock you forgot you were wearing. Its that seamless to operate. Here's a hint: If you buy a 1999 or 2000 you get rid of the pop-up headlights and still can run regular gas. After that it is premium. Also, there is the Mazdaspeed only made in 2004 and 2005, which is turboed and doesn't even say "Miata" on it. If you want a little more power and better resale value look for the Mazdaspeed. Also, you'll feel a little less feminine as a guy, if that's how you want to feel, because of the boost in factory power. Ultimately I got rid of mine for an M3. I just needed the thrill. -
Could not find my way out of a paper bag without my two Garmins. The newer ones display the actual speed limit and your mph so you know how bad you are speeding and are great as a replacement for a non-calibrated speedometer as found on many kit cars. Also I have camera alerts, traffic updates etc. which you can get as lifetime subscriptions. Actually the fat older ones seem to have easier to read screens like the 550c which also has an mp3 player and bluetooth. Get all the bells and whistles and you might enjoy them later, except the mp3 player which sounds crummy and is kinda dumb. Also the picture viewer. Give me a break. At the minimum get bluetooth, traffic alerts, and camera alerts. Paid for themselves in gas, time and frustration from sitting in traffic many times over. I just pull one of them out of one of my real cars and suspend from a suction cup on the windshield of the 7 when I drive it.
