  1. I'll be there both days with my 2011 Ariel Atom 3, so if you have wanted to see one of these- now is your chance! http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/2011-04-0914-20-31-IMG_4776ArielAtom3atECRrightfrontclose.jpg Eddie:flag:
  2. No, sir, this one is Honda Civic Type R, 2 liter supercharged 300 HP four cylinder. None of the 25 V-8's scheduled to be built are in the US yet. And at a price of $250,000, I'm not apt to be an owner--, but I can dream-- Eddie:flag:
  3. We had another great day at Eagles Canyon last Saturday! Lots of sun, and lots of fun!! http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/2011-04-0914-20-23-IMG_4772ArielAtom3atECRrightfrontstaging.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/2011-04-0914-29-43-IMG_4809Atom3atECRleftfront.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/2011-04-0914-29-43-IMG_4813Atom3atECRheadon.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/2011-04-0914-39-48-IMG_4917Atom3atECR.jpg best laps were in the 1:59 and 1:58 range- Eddie
  4. Update- the weather suddenly got radically worse, and the track is too cold, and it was misting rain off and on today, so no traction to be had, and there is a freeze warning at Hallett till 9 am in the morning, Sunday March 27, So I never got on track today. I left right after noon and won't go back for tomorrow. We'll try it again next month at Hallett, April 23 and 24. Eddie
  5. I'm going for both days with my 2011 Ariel Atom 3, and a friend is going with me with his new Mustang that he has made into a track car. It's been a long winter--I need some GEE!! http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/IMG_0053.jpg Anyone from here going? Eddie
  6. I don't own mine anymore, but I still think they are the most beautiful car ever built! http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Lola%20Coupe/029SEdandErcieacrossLola.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Lola%20Coupe/018SLolaweddiing1984.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Lola%20Coupe/2030LolaT-70CoupeRFthreequartereyel.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Lola%20Coupe/CopyofLolafronteyelevelMay10-07.jpg I am very grateful for the ~33 years I enjoyed her! You have a very beautiful car-- congratulations, and enjoy! Eddie
  7. Here is the gee graph on my new 2011 Ariel Atom 3, at Eagles Canyon Raceway last Saturday. The inner circle is 1.25 gee and the outer circle is 2.5 gee. The Atom 3 is completely stock with no adjustments or modifications at all, except for the Hoosier A6's that I put on the original-equip wheels. This shows two laps in the 1:59's and one lap at 1:58.2. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/2011_Ariel_Atom_3_gee_graph_Eagles_Canyon_1_58.jpg It is hard for me to put into words how much fun I'm having at the Eagles Canyon and Hallett road courses!:hurray: Eddie:)
  8. My TraqMate data recorder gave me the following info from my best lap in the last session at Eagles Canyon last Saturday. Lap time 1:58.2 Maximum gee: Braking-1.45 Accelerating 1.08 Right gee (turning left) 2.20 Left gee (turning right) 1.98 This on my company demonstrator, a 2011 Ariel Atom 3. I put new Hoosier A6 tires on the stock wheels, but NO other changes or adjustments. The alignment, ride height, suspension settings, engine, etc. all just as it came. That is very close to my best times with my modified Atom II with the huge Formula Atlantic slicks on it! I am VERY HAPPY with this new Atom 3!!:hurray::cheers: Eddie:flag:
  9. I wish you could, too-- it's a HOOT!:hurray: Eddie
  10. At Eagles Canyon Raceway Saturday Feb. 26, Eddie Hill will be running, showing, and telling about his new Ariel Atom 3 demonstrator. The track is about 12 miles northeast of Decatur, Tx., on highway 51, and the forecast is for mid-70's and mostly sunny. It is a fun track, with friendly folks, and the new Atom is great! Love to have you! http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/IMG_0047-1.jpg Eddie:flag:
  11. Thanks! Here's a couple more- http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/IMG_0075-1.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/IMG_0079-1.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/IMG_0082-1.jpg Eddie
  12. Here is some fun we had at Hallett Halloween, turning one minute, twenty eight second laps, stone stock on street tires. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/H-134.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/H-174.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/J-237.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/H-037.jpg This was a LOT of fun, and no work! I'm going to be at Eagles Canyon Raceway 12 miles NE of Decatur, Texas, with it tomorrow, Saturday Nov 20-- If you can make it, should be a great day. Forecast is sun, and mid 70's! Eddie
  13. My 2006 Atom II, built by Brammo in Oregon, was twitchy and unstable and would turn itself a bit right or left sometimes if I turned loose of the steering wheel, but it came with a bit of toe OUT in the rear, and the manual from Brammo called for that. When I went to the road race track at Hallett, as a brand-new rookie road racer in 2007, the experienced drivers told me that was wrong and showed me how to fix it with one to one and a half mm of toe IN! per side in the rear. That totally fixed it. And the car was unbelievably more stable under heavy braking! The Atom 3's are built by TMI at Virginia International Raceway, and my new 2011 Atom 3 has what I'd call perfect handling and stability and ride, and the TMI-supplied manual calls for ---wait for it----- 3mm total toe in rear! I haven't checked my new one for alignment, but I bet it is right on spec. I did not see the article you mentioned, but if the Atom he drove really was twitchy, it may not have had the alignment they are now using. I will say this, if a driver is used to more sluggish handling cars, and everything I've ever driven is sluggish-handling compared to the Atom--you can make the Atom seem twitchy by just very small and unintended hand movements that you may not even be aware of, and that most any other car would not notice or respond to. I've never been privileged to drive a 7, but I'll bet it probably gets called twitchy by some drivers that aren't used to a really light car that instantly does just exactly what you tell it to do. Sunset in North Texas- gotta love it! http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/IMG_0074-1.jpg Eddie
  14. More pictures- http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/IMG_0049-1.jpg
  15. I was very impressed with how comfortable and planted, or stable, the ride was/is. I never noticed any trace of twitchiness, or darting, or instability of any sort, and I spent quite a bit of chassis/shock/setup/tuning time with my 2006 Atom II, to finally arrive at about the same place this 2011 Atom 3 is starting out! Big congratulations to TMI for an excellent job. I feel that the new Atom 3 owners will be very happy with the car just exactly the way it comes. What an excellent combination of a stable and comfortable ride, and fantastic grip and controllability and cornering power! http://forum.atomclub.com/Smileys/custom/thumbsup.gif One weekend was not enough time, for me, to get anywhere near where I think the car will eventually be, lap-time-wise, because I've had SO many laps with my Ecotec 5-speed with a different power band and different shift pattern and different ratios, etc. But I am pretty happy with 1:28's in both of the last two sessions, on street AO48 tires and running the car EXACTLY the way it comes from TMI! All fun and fast and NO work--that is my kind of weekend! http://forum.atomclub.com/Smileys/custom/grin.gif Eddie
  16. We did Hallett Halloween and it was great! And then I took these at home yesterday- http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/IMG_0043-2.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/IMG_0047-1.jpg Eddie
  17. The new Atom and I are headed to Oklahoma for Hallett Halloween! http://forum.atomclub.com/Smileys/custom/thumbsup.gif I enjoyed it last year- it was a real scream! http://forum.atomclub.com/Smileys/custom/evil.gif If any of the prospective Atom customers that I have been talking to about checking out my new demo are seeing this---The Atom and I will be at Hallett Motor Raceway, just south of Hallett, Oklahoma, from about 6 PM tonight (Friday Oct 29) 'till about 6 PM Sunday the 31st. I would love to show and tell about the new Atom, if you can be there! However, I feel that I must warn you that last year at this event there were ghosts and goblins- so proceed at your own risk! http://forum.atomclub.com/Smileys/custom/evil.gif Eddie:driving:
  18. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/IMG_0083.jpg Eddie:)
  19. I have only 34 miles so far, so I need a lot more seat time to evaluate things like that, but initial impression is that buffeting is not a problem-- I love this angle! http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/IMG_0071.jpg I love the front view at night. Wonder what the folks that see this view think? http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/IMG_0085.jpg Eddie:flag:
  20. The car is here now, and I spent the weekend looking, inspecting, waxing and Armor-alling. I wanted it protected before it ever got dirty the first time. I now have 34 miles on it and it is GREAT! Click on this picture for a slideshow! http://s80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/th_IMG_0022.jpg I LOVE this car!:hurray::driving: Eddie:flag:
  21. Hank, The 2011 Ariel Atom 3 that I'm showing the pictures of-- is not here yet. The pictures are those that the factory, TMI, sent me. The car is in transit today on it's way here. So I can't take pictures of the seats, but they are fiberglass. As far as selling the seats and/or wings separately, you should probably talk directly to TMI at 877-422-9130, and the parts dept. is extension 300, for Sheila Kirk. I have the car and options price list, but I don't know if they sell components for non-Atom use, or what the prices would be that way.
  22. I don't have wings on my 2006 Ariel Atom 2, that I've had for over three and a half years and about 6500 miles. And this new 2011 Ariel Atom 3, with the wings, that I'm showing the pictures of, is not here yet. It is still in transit from the factory at VIR (Virginia International Raceway) on it's way to here in Wichita Falls, Texas. So I haven't even seen it yet, except in the pictures that TMI, the factory, sent me. So to date I haven't driven an Atom with wings, but I have been in the one minute and nineteen second range with my Atom 2 at Hallett- without them. I'll be winging it soon, though! Eddie:flag:
  23. Here it is at VIR, where they are built. It is finished and tested, waiting to be picked up by the transportation company. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/FourFathers2011ArielAtom3finished07436.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/FourFathers2011ArielAtom3finished07435.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/FourFathers2011ArielAtom3finished07434.jpg And it is now in the trailer in transit to Wichita Falls, Texas!! It feels like Christmas eve! Eddie
  24. Here it is at the factory at Virginia International Raceway, getting the finishing touches, prior to track-testing. It has the Honda Type "R" 2.0 liter engine with Jackson supercharger and 300 HP, six-speed, with limited slip differential. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/EddieHill2011Atom3DSC_0306.jpg Carbon Fiber wings and fenders, Yohohama A-048 tires http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/FourFathers2011ArielAtom396.jpg I'm getting the full windshield on this one- my 2006 one does not have a windshield or deflectors. I think my passengers, when I take folks for demo rides, will appreciate the windshield. It is pretty easily removable, should I want it off, for track use. See the passenger has a dead pedal, or footrest, in addition to the one for the driver. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/FourFatherEddieHill2011ArielAtom389.jpg It is just about ready to track-test and bed in the brakes. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/FourFather/Eddie%20Hill%20Ariel%20Atom/Eddie%20Hill%202011%20Ariel%20Atom%203/FourFatherEddieHill2011ArielAtom392.jpg The transportation company is scheduled to pick it up in the morning, and it will probably make here to Wichita Falls, Tx, Thursday. If all goes perfect, I'll take it to Hallett Motor Raceway for the HST (High Speed Touring) event this coming Friday, Oct 22. So I can give it a proper break-in-- on track! I'm so pumped I can hardly sleep! Thanks for looking! Eddie
  25. October at Hallett sounds like a blast--Maybe we can swap rides or something- it's all good! Looking forward to it. If my modified hotrod Atom II is not ready, my new Honda 300hp/six-speed Atom 3 should be ready to dance-- Come on, cooler weather! Eddie:seeya:
