I do have to admit that this may be the best looking series 4 out there, but only because of the number of distractions from the actual Fugly body. Sorry series 4 owners! I would actually drive this one.

Wow, they are giving that thing away! Little to no chance of me registering that in CA.

It makes a world of difference. I am 6'1" but with very long legs. I have passed on standard caterhams as I could not even get in. In an SV I had to pull the seat forward a few clicks. It's a real bummer that the SVs command such a premium price.

There is a guy named William Sours who used to have the Caterham dealership for California. He had a falling out with the company and is no longer listed, but I have seen and driven a few of his cars in years past. He may be willing to do a build. The Blue SV currently for sale was built by him. He lives in Ventura, but I no longer have contact info and his website is down (autocourseinc.com).

One post a week in the local Craigslist "Wanted" section for used motor oil and you may never buy fuel again.

Ron Hickman, Lotuseer, RIP

I still have one of those workbenches in the box from about 15 years or so ago. I guess I need to break it out and see what it is. Godspeed Ron. -
13 inch wheels on the street
LongTimeLurker replied to redgoose's topic in General Sevens Discussion
7's are one of the few cars that IMO look better with a shorter wheel and more tire. With such a light wheel a short sidewall on a bad road would not be nice, and probably detract from handling. A very smooth road may be a different story. -
None of the on-line photos recently do this car justice. I saw the new photos a few years back. It is stunning. The color of the paint is stunning, and i don't really like blue. Also of note, it was assembled be a former Caterham dealer so it is most likely bolted together pretty well. I am 6'1" all in my legs and had to pull the seat forward in another of his SV's. If you are long or fat this may be your only chance at happiness. Man, I wish I still had the income that I had in '06 when I missed it by a night.

Craig, does it currently have registration for the street? If so how is it registered and where?

January looks like my grandmother, but I'd hit august hard!

Ross, if you got that awesome car torture me with a few new photos, or better yet a video with sound.

The sell at a profit part is what concerns me. Properties, expecially condo's are no longer "guaranteed" to increase in value. Lots of people bought in 2007 or so with this dream of easy money. Rent when needed so you can move about and have a change of scenery.

IMO there is a significant difference between a girfriend telling you what to do, and your wife. A wife has a valid say in the family finances. A girfriend should worry about her own cash first. I'd guess she'd be fine with him blowing several thousand on a diamond bracelet for her, and you can't even drive a diamond.

If it has indeed been listed for 3 years at this price logic would tell me that the starting price is not too reasonable. :blueangel:

Back on eBay with two hours left: Beautiful recreation

I simply have zero personal experience with rotary engines. I have also looked at some of your earlier posts, and it appeared that you were having some reliability issues. Perhaps I am mistaken. Also, based on my research it appears that they are pretty loud, somewhat dirty, and have oiling issues. I am not set against it, as I have a friend who has been working on them for 26 years or so, and has gotten amazing power from them. His local shop gets awesome reviews so I would have fantastic support as far as the rotary goes. I just don't want to have a shop do all of my work. This builder estimates hp at 170, which would be a hoot. He is also only 2 hours or so from me by car. http://www.yelp.com/biz/rotorsport-complete-mazda-service-and-repair-santa-clara http://www.rotorsport2.com/aboutus.htm -

I have exchanged e-mails with the owner. I have tons of photo's, and one shows a rear California license plate, and it has registration stickers when the photo was taken. He also appears in some of the photos. The car has also been listed on lotustalk.com and californiacaterhamclub.com. I am no expert but I don't think it is a scam. My only slight concern was with the "VIN Verified registration", and the rotary. Registration problems are the last thing I wish to deal with in California. BTW The build looks outstanding right down to the custom underside plates. BTW I think he also supplied me with a phone number. -
The sound of a 1700 crossflow is worth about $1,000. Call it even.

He should turn around and go back for all of the bodywork that has fallen off.

Understood. From what I could surmise if you have the windshield you must then have adequate wipers. I would love the aero screens but hate to have to get and carry helmets every time I took someone for a ride. I have had my windshield cracked right in front of my face twice. Our roads suck around here.

This car was extremely well bought. I missed it by a narrow margin. The only free weekend I had was filled with a last minute funeral. In case the new biuyer wants to know this is the parts list and pricing to convert to a full windscreen with wipers and squirter optional (but required by CPH with the windshield from what I could tell). These are from CaterhamUSA. Scott, if the deal falls through for any reason send me a note please. Sorry about the formatting.
