James A
This next week and weekend are the SCCA National Championship Runoffs, there are 5 Caterhams that I know of competing in E Production, likely some Lotus 7s in F Production. Although the rules create a huge disadvantage for all things 7 in the SCCA, it will be fun to watch, the races are webcast, usually.
MichaelD
are any of the races broadcast?
breezy7
I don't think the Runoffs have been on TV for a few years. The races are on Speedcast TV over the web http://speedcasttv.com/scca/ There isn't a schedule that I could find on that site yet. James A
Yes, SpeedCast on line, the coverage is OK, FP is Friday the 10th and EP is Saturday the 11th, here is the schedule: http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/assets/2014_Runoffs_Schedule_9.5.14.pdf
TheDingo8MyBaby
Laguna Seca offers the best chance for a Seven to take home a victory in a long time. I'll be there Sunday to support, but I'll be looking forward to seeing what the sevens do in EP and FP.
James A
I suspect that there will be somewhere around a 2 second a lap difference between anything Mazda and the Caterhams. The SCCA has pretty much given Mazda what they want and denied requests from Caterham owners for modifications that would keep us competitive. But then again Mazda pours money in to the SCCA, and as the say, "money talks and BS walks" In fact there was one Caterham in our Region who beat a National Class RX-8, so the SCCA just added 100lb weight to Caterhams with any SVT engine parts, oh and allowed the RX-8 to take out 100 lbs, nice SCCA, real nice! James A
OK, day 1 qualifying for EP: Jim Daniels Mazda 1:37:9 Matt Reynolds Mazda 1:38:3 Jesse Prather Mazda 1:39:7 Aaron DowneyMazda 1:40:1 Josh Carroll Mazda 1:40:9 John Brakke Mazda 1:41:0 Now all the way down in 16th: Rick Kosdrosky Caterham 1:44:6 Rick's car is nicely prepared and Rick is a very good driver, it is just that he is not in the SCCA's preferred car. What Mazda wants in the rules, Mazda gets...

James A
Not a bad showing at all for the Caterhams, given how severely handicapped they are by the SCCA!
