mr.vman Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 I am new to the list and have been looking for a Lotus S4 seven project. Questions; Is the windshield frame still available? If so, from who? Seats, are they Europa or? Side curtains and weather gear, once again, available and from where? How to post in Cars Wanted section, cannot seem to post. I have contacted the site with no response yet. Thanks in advance. Steve V. In Arizona USA
scannon Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Welcome aboard Steve. This is not a project but a complete car (but then isn't every Lotus a project?). http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/4706549273.html No pictures in the ad but it was at the British Motoring Conclave in September and looked well taken care of.
DeanG Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 The traditional (meaning they have been around long enough to know the older cars) are Dave Bean Engineering (CA), JAE (CA), RD Enterprises (PA), Sports Car World (TX). They all know each other. Some have some parts but not others...
mr.vman Posted October 18, 2014 Author Posted October 18, 2014 Thanks for the response, familiar with the traditional Lotus suppliers. Sports Car World seems to have disappeared, at least on the internet. As I understand, Redline in the UK has taken over the Caterham parts? But the Lotus Seven S4 appears to be the orphan Seven. Not much information on them. Is there an S4 site? Or perhaps some type of interchange or technical site out there? I know the front suspension is Europa, rear axle is front load English Ford, probably 2000E trans. Some Twin Cams, others Crossflow. Who does the body parts? WIndshield frame? Tops? Other parts? Thanks, Mr.vman in Arizona
Paul Hill Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Were it me I would be talking to gent with the one for sale in Denver real quick. Perhaps a deal could be struck to borrow/rent parts for molds or patterns. Or perhaps he could advise you who buys it, then.make a deal with the new owner. That car does seem to be intact, have all the parts in question. Not seen very often....
