Help identify this car

He needs some help identifying this car:

Thank you for the advise and assistance.

I have been told it was created in Canada in the early mid 1970's to look

like a 1966 Series II model. Well using the crossflow engine throws that

out, the dash layout certainly isn't '66, and the rear axle isn't true to

anything I've read about. [it's a Datson/Nissan quick gear switchout rear?].

The front wings have never been drilled for any indicators, the seating

compartment has no interior 'paneling'. The brake and clutch masters were

replaced before I bought it. VIN on the firewall is DTG0945A, on the frame

it is DTG0945AR.

Any help as to figuring out manufacturer and when is most appreciated.

My quick guess, as all my Seven books are at home is a Robin Hood. Dimesions look the same, the one piece hood, the SUs through the bonnet... I may be wrong but i would start there.

I was told that my Locost came over in a container with a bunch of others. Maybe they are related. Mines RHD though. It is definatly a crossflow. I have a Haynes manual and could find out the size for you if you wish. It looks like a 1600. Is it a 4spd? The BH looks small like it has a Sierra trams. My 1300 has a 4spd but the BH it huge. Russ

To the best of my understanding, yes it is a 1600, originally I thought ford 1500, but those weren't crossflows? so perhaps a Robin Hood or a Locost eh? The firewall shot is supposed to show the top plaque has a lotus design, but I'm thinking anybody can buy those most anywhere?

Does anybody recognize the VIN manufacturer code DTG??

BA is 1600cc . Assembly was started on Dec 31 1978 by Tom Seacrest, after 8 pints of Guiness, and finished on Jan19, 1979 after he got out of the hospital after suffering a one car accident on the M1 early on the 1 of Jan. Just kidding but a BA is 1600. Russ

Looking at the engine compartment it looks to be a LOCOST due to the frame layout no upper support tube running from the trans area to the upper front tube on eithe side of the engine. The rims look to be the same as the ones that I have on my LOCOST book build which came off an MGB also the speedo and tach look to be the same as mine which are Smith (MGB) along with the turn indicators and highbeam indicator mounted in the dash.

Nice looking car no mater what it is...ITS STILL A 7 and will always put a smile on your face.
