Automoda Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 I've always wanted to try this. If I had some better sheet metal tooling I'd do it for my Birkin. Here's a photoshop I did on a picture I grabbed from the for-sale topic. It was a great looking car, and I think it looks even better with... Split windshield. (I realize the photoshopped angles arent perfect but it gets the point across) Center-hinged hood like the very early Fords had. Slight pointed angle at the front and a little scoop-like metal work. Blacked out under the clam-shells. Thats it. What do you think? http://herb.linkrealms.com/lotus/split%20idea.jpg
scannon Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 I like it! Gives the car a whole new retro look. I'm guessing it would cut down on wind buffeting as well.
powderbrake Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I like it, but getting the hood off will be a chore. sorry, I forgot to read the post, I see that you center folded the hood.
bsimon Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 (edited) Very nice, and it really doesn't look out of place on a Se7en. I like it, but getting the hood off will be a chore. If the windscreen frame was to pivot at the lowest stanchion hole, the entire assembly could swing back into the cockpit to allow removing a standard bonnet. ETA...fitting a roof may present some challenges. Edited April 4, 2016 by bsimon
Alaskossie Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 I'm still up for exploring some carbon-fiber clams... The black-out under the clams looks really fine.
Warren Nethercote Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 On a Locost 7 - source forgotten, and no idea if it was ever completed.
