Another "USA7s" Aluminum trailer is available...

Folks-

If you are looking for an all-aluminum trailer with a single axle and electric brakes, the place where Bruce W. and I got ours has another one available.

While not the cheapest solution (I think this one has the $500 aluminum deck option, too), these trailers fit our cars nicely and tow easily. Fit and finish is pretty good too. I think the deck is 6.5 x 14.

See below for shots of my trailer empty/loaded up.

Bruce-

I think they are still working on that....I think this is ANOTHER one that they ordered due to inquiries from walk-in customers seeing ours and asking "are those for ATVs?"

Hi Al,

Am I correct in thinking that they were unable to reduce the width of the trailer for Jeff D?

Bruce

PS: I like my trailer!! :D

Bruce,

I spoke with Glenn yesterday and they are looking at off-set wheels and narrowing the fenders. The wheels they received were the wrong bolt pattern so it's taken a little longer. Everyone's still optimistic that the 92" width is achievable.

One big thin to consider on the WIDTH of the BED is measure the width of your car with the widest tires and wheels that you might use.

Most of the time I trailer my car it is with 13 x 10 race slicks. These will not fit on or in most small stock trailers.

My Aluma trailer with car and extra set of race tires and tools is still under 2,000 lbs.

Specs and photos are posted.

  • 1 month later...

Al and Bruce,

Today ends my trailer saga and I'm happy to report that I just returned home with my "skinny" trailer -- 89 1/2" from outside the fenders -- and it fits in the garage. I've attached a couple of pics showing why it needed to be less than 92". Glenn ended up cutting the fenders and installing a narrower axle. The deck stayed exactly the same.

Now if I can find time to swap out the noisy rear end in the Ultralite, I can start looking for events further away.

I took the car to a track day at Summit Point and after two sessions, the rear end started making what I'd call gear whine. It was bad enough that I figured I was doing some sort of damage. After the track, I've done a few diagnostic runs it consistently whines loudly under acceleration or when you lift off throttle. If you ease off the throttle, the noise almost goes away. I have a spare diff and figure it shouldn't be too hard to swap it out. I guess it could also be an issue with the transmission.

Just haven't had any time to spend working on it.

Jeff,

Congrats, glad to hear they could work it out for you. That's a tight fit in the garage!!

I've only just recently started using my trailer and I've been very happy with it. Very easy to load/unload, simple to secure the car, and it pulled very easily with my Caravan (soon to be replaced with a true tow vehicle with brake controller, I hope).

Good luck getting your car fixed,

Bruce

Jeff-

Sorry I couldn't make it to have lunch with you on your way through NJ...I was tied up with our chili-cookoff fundraiser for the local education foundation. I was on my feet from 9 to 9 yesterday.

Glad the trailer worked out. Sorry it took so long. Hope to see you and the Ultralite sometime soon.

  • 1 year later...

I thought I'd drag this thread up to let owners of the USA7's/Mission trailer (Al, Jeff, Shotgunslade, etc) know of a small issue I had with my trailer.

My trailer spends most of the time stored outside and I had been noticing that under some conditions I'd have a fair amount of water trapped in the front center frame rail. I usually store my trailer with the tonque raised (so the deck would drain when it rained), but when I lowered the tonque water would come out of the front of the frame. I crawled under the trailer and noticed that all the frame rails had drain holes in them except for the rear of the center frame rail shown in the attached pic. I drilled a 5/16" hole in the frame rail and about a 1/2 gallon of water poured out. I'm sure the amount had nothing to do with all the crap rain we've had in the month of June! :banghead:

If any of you guys keep your trailer stored outside it might be worth checking to see if your trailer has a drain hole in that location and make sure the other drain holes are not plugged up.

Thanks. I'll check it out. Also, has anyone been having trouble with the electrical plug coming out of the socket, while the car is being towed. This happened to me and the plug dragged along the ground, pretty much destroying the plug. I had to order a new plug and cable, and fish it through the frame rail to the junction box. Now I use a hose clamp to keep it from falling out of the socket.

No probs with this on my Honda Pilot rig...we have the large round plug set up and the flip out cover on the tow vehicle portion of the coupling has a notch to keep the plug in place.

Also note that I run the electric cable through the "safety pin" that keeps the runaway brake line...so it is supported at some point along its run.

Bruce, thanks for the tip. I'll have them look at this when I bring it to the trailer place for more e-track (down the sides) and lips/chamfering for the ramps on the ground. side of things.
