Ian7
I haven't brought a car over since 2002. Anyone done a port-to-port or driveway-to-driveway recently, and willing to share what they spent? And who they used, and were they a good choice? Thanks
Croc
Is this a high end car or something lower end that ro-ro would work for? Do you need your own container or are you happy with share? I assume these are all over 25 year old road cars? They are the cheapest for importation/shipping costs. With Hanjin sinking the container freight rates are a little unsettled right now. I would get some updated quotes if I were you. I will only use Cosdel now after previously using a bunch. Process is managed smoothly albeit somewhat abrupt in the communications at times. No share containers with multiple cars - dedicated container for your car. They do all the US to UK and UK to US for events like Goodwood, Monterey, etc., so they know how to treat high end cars. They took care of my last 3 cars being shipped internationally. The Batmobile arrived without any damage and that fiberglass fairing is fragile and easily damaged. I can talk offline on costs for my cars.
Ian7
Thx, looking at pre '92 Caterhams, so I'd risk ro/ro. I'm 10 miles from 3rd busiest port on the east coast so I'm hoping that will keep prices reasonable.
mrmustang
I recommend: https://www.schumachercargo.com/ Last trip for a vintage Mustang to the UK (roll on/roll off) was four years ago, price dropped off at the docks in Newark, NJ was $2,100, delivered to the buyers door just north of Yorkshire Bill S
Ian7
Thx Bill, that's about 180% of what I paid 14 years ago, seems very fair. Well, it was an all original, under 20K original mile, 1972 Mustang convertible, so that might have had something to do with it.
Ian7
My comment was sincere, it did sound like an acceptable increase for that period of time to have gone by. :-) As it turns out I can share info just received: RORO, british sellers driveway to US east coast port $2850 In container, also driveway to port, $4350 2850 from 2100 four years ago is hard to swallow.
